Okay, time to make a comment, I've been to this video probably a hundred times. The pickup/amp combination is still I think - to this day - the absolute best I've ever heard. As I'm sure, anyone who has made their way to this video is in an ever-long search for tone, this seems to be it. My ears thank you. My bank account will not. It must be mine.
The gain channel of the SS amp is like a modern version of a 67 Marshall Plexi. The clean channel is like a fender twin wit a bit of Vox chime added to it. Seems like a very excellent company, I bet these will always be versatile and desirable hand-wired amps.

cant seem to make out what settings he is on..looks like his mids are over half....Hey Doug, can you confirm? that amp sounds killer but knowing he used 5150ll heads for awhile.....didnt know if you ever tried tgem or or what your best settings on that amp were... thats what I'm using now... Hello Mark Day and thanks for your demos too. They've helped me get a little closer on a couple covers when I needed to get a little closer! Isn't Doug amazing???
Sounds like Van Halen=Boring.But Edward is great of course but he never had this much gain at least not on the 5 first albums.And one of the"secrets"to his sound was no master volume amps instead he used a variac(really?..ha)and an echoplex which ads a little bit of saturation.So it would be cool to have a Stevens Friedman with no master volume because like Michael Landau says"Master volume amps sounds fake to me".
