- In todays video we are looking at eufy's latest Robot Vacuum the X8 and the experience I have had with it. This is not a traditional review and doesn't discuss all of the features in depth. I look at the 3 criteria I look for in robot vacuum cleaners and how the X8 matches up with those.
While the x8 doesn't hit all my criteria, the added suction power thanks to the twin turbines makes it a husky hair magnet and an essential bit of tech for me.

Thanks again, HA is the first criteria for me. Plus with matter around the corner I won't spend much $$.
I do have a DeeBot T9 which is also very good. It just works. Also with a bit of a fiddle it works in HA. So for me it Hey ... Clean Specific Room.
That's the only real miss that I have. Being able to use HA to say clean a set room etc. I quite liked the Neato integration but had so many issues with the Neato vacs. Maybe someone will pick one up and expand on the integration :P
Are you able to share a quick how to with regards the HA integration you’ve done. I’ve been fiddling with my HA and X8 trying to get something basic but I’m failing miserably

Hi Mark, I do like your video's! And normally I'll get the intergrations running in HA whit everything you explain, but this one doesn't seem to work for me :( Would you be able to make a (short) video how you did the integration in HA, even if it is basic I would like to use it :) Thanx!
Hey Peter. The integration for this is pretty janky as the X8 isn't officially supported. You can get it to work like I did but it doesn't offer full functionality.
@@MarkWattTech thanx. Right now I use ALEXA routines to have some controlls, hopefully EUFY will make it posible to have it full integrated in HA sometime :)
I know you said it's louder. But is it louder than a normal non robotic vacuum such as a stick cordless like Shark or Vax?
I would say it’s on par with my Shark stick vac. But not as loud as a traditional vacuum.
HA integration is an important one for me. Do you know if eufy is going to use Matter in the future? If so, do you think that will make HA integration easier?
No idea if they will adopt Matter. As I guess I think they might as it will be a "cool thing" to have slapped on the box to help with sales. But on the other hand eufy do like having there own closed of system. Would be great for it all to play nice.
I love these I have one upstairs and one downstairs. Shame there's no HA integration, it would be great for the alarm system to be able to just use the contact sensors and ignore the motion detection when cleaning in progress and reinstate when docked.
I hope someone in the community picks it up and gets it added in. It's a great little machine. I'm using the old integration just to be able to start and dock the robot in various automations. You could also do the same without the integration by doing an Alexa call or Google routine via HA.
Would be 100% easier if there was just a standard eufy integration though. We can dream... :)
Roborock S8 , mop and vacuum would be a better model. Best value machine to get! $499 amazing mop function !!
Do roborocks even have an s8 version? Thought they only did an S7?

Is work ok here. But im can only start, stop it ind HA.
So i use there app. Clean 3 times a week.
I’m still yet to try any Roborock. I’ve heard good things though :)
What integration are you using?
Heya! Sorry for the delay I've been away. It's the old integration for eufy vacs by pbulteer (Now linked in description). It works but the states show as errors and you also see an error popup when you do the service calls (but it triggers the robot still).
Hopefully someone adds it officially in the future.

How are robo vacs handling doorsteps lately? Had a Roomba way back which wasnt too good 😔
Ones like this which have the suspension type wheels are okay with small steps. However because of the added "climbing" ability they can often try and mount things and get stuck. This one isn't too bad for mounting things but the Neato vac I had would literally try and climb walls haha
@@MarkWattTech As long as it doesn't try to climb my wife I'm fine with it 🤣 previous owners of our house have placed floor over floor over floor in the living room but not in the hallway so the step down/up is about 1,5cm. 😭
Most vacuums can handle steps of 2cm, but depends on the model. Often it's stated on the website
🤣🤣 you should be safe. I'm not 100% sure what height eufy claim the vac can get over. I think it would handle 1.5cm though.
Does it go back to charge itself automatically if it runs out of charge?
It does yes :)
