    Another incredible detailed review, thank you I currently own two different makes of Robot Vacuum cleaners, one coming to the end of it's life as it gets used every day and has been for over 3 years. The Eufy RoboVacs look fantastic and I can see the huge upgrade either would be and interestingly they cost so much less than either of my current machines. I love the details you give and the fact you have included everything I want to know. On balance I think I'd probably use the X8 more as I like to mop properly using a cleaner but the Hybrid is very convenient for a wipe over floors.

    Great review, thanks! My current Eufy models struggle with beams of sunlight which confuses the sensors and often end up "trapping" them. Much like you have at 15:09. Any findings of how the new model handles this?

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  2 роки тому +4

      So far...it's been fine! I assume the laser distance sensor fixes the issues that affect the camera-only robovacs, and a few of the rooms at the front of my house get strong sunlight like you see in the video. Zero issues so far!

    Fantastic review. I am new to your channel but was REALLY impressed with the quality and detail of your review. Great to have a British perspective too as US homes tend to differ a bit. Liked and subscribed! One question - does the Eufy have any dog poo detection? 🤣 I know some Roomba and I think other brands have this but, despite having a well trained dog, I am terrified of the consequences if she was ill and there was an accident!!

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks a lot! 🙌🏼
      So there’s no specific detection, which means it’s really going to depend on the size of the poo 🤷‍♂️ you’ve got LDS and infrared so you’re maximising your chances of detecting it, but small ones may not get picked up. Sorry, I realise that “maybe” isn’t a very helpful answer!

    For the X8 Hybrid, does the water tank continue to drip feed to the pad even when not doing mopping (i.e. gravity fed) like some cheaper robot vacuums or is the pad saturation controlled electronically (like on the Roborock S7)?

    • @insidetechltd

      As far as I can tell: gravity. However i've never actually noticed a big puddle if I left the water tank installed and full 🤔 (best to empty it either way of course)

    I just got Main today. I had the Roomba prior to getting this model. The EUFY's is by far better and cheaper. It was so easy to use that I did not have to read the instructions. I literally just let it map out my house, then I sent it back home, then I asked it to clean. It did such an amazing job! I have three cats and I was shocked at how much it sucked up. The Roomba is very good, but it was dumb ocelot the capacity to navigate properly, just used and inbuilt algorithm, so was very clumsy. I am so glad I got this. I don't think I will use the mop though.

    How do you like it? We have 2700 sq ft carpet, tile and vinyl. One Persian cat and 1 girl. Concerned about pet hair and ability to clean carpets. Any issues with emptying the dirt bin or hair breaking or getting stuck on rollers etc? How is the maintenance? Does it auto detect when the on-board bin is full and go back to the base for a clean or does it keep cleaning but doing a poor job because the bin is full? • @rob12841
    @rob12841 2 роки тому +5

    I had mine delivered today and I have to say it’s an excellent little machine. The mapping and the features is just brilliant. Had to fiddle about with the maps to perfect the boundaries which felt somewhat tedious making boundaries, merging rooms, making more boundaries, merging again etc etc to get it perfect as bits of bathroom was in a bedroom. Got it sussed in the end but as I say it was a pain engineering it in such a way to remove mistakes. But a LiDAR robot makes such a difference to a gyro one it really does. Wish the wheel/brush motors were a tad more quiet but that’s my only criticism really. The app is great compared to some others and is really intuitive, eufy should of included a percentage on the battery though. This is a solid buy, I was looking at the mova LiDAR robot but eufy looks to have the best support out of all these manufacturers 👍

    Besides loudness during cleaning or some other extenuating circumstance, is there any reason why one wouldn't just use the max suction power at all times? More airflow = always cleans better. No?

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  2 роки тому +1

      No necessarily. Using max power means max battery usage also. So maybe if you have a large house, the RoboVac won't be able to clean the entire house on a single charge (but it could if it was using a lower suction power). Even if it can cover your whole house though, more battery usage means more charge cycles. More charge cycles means the battery health depletes faster. So maybe in 2/3 years time the cleaner can no longer cover your house on a single charge because the battery health is worse.
      So that's why people might want to use a lower power!

    • @rrockich
      @rrockich 2 роки тому

      @@insidetechltd Gotcha. Well, this thing can handle my square footage with ease, so no prob getting through cleaning on a single charge. Honestly, even if it did have to recharge between runs to get finished, I'd probably still leave it in Max power since I value the cleaning power over having to replace the battery sooner (especially because in a few years, even a battery that only holds 80% of its original capacity could still finish my job with juice to spare). Also, having a cleaner carpet means longer carpet life over time - all things being equal. Grit left in between carpet fibers chews it up quicker. Better to get as much out as you can and keep it that way as long as possible. Carpet is more expensive to replace than a battery!

    • @insidetechltd

      No, that’s not how it works. It vacuums AND mops when you have the mop attachment attached. It will vacuum and mop all rooms you tell it to go into. Does this avoid obstacles like wires, small toys etc? Also does this stop mopping when it goes on Carpets. Great Review by the way !! keep it up

    • @insidetechltd
      @insidetechltd  2 роки тому +4

      No, wires will be too small to be detected, but it might detect some small toys and avoid them depending on their size.
      With mopping, it doesn’t automatically stop mopping on a carpet, but you can set up no-mop zones over your carpeted areas. That means if the water tank is attached to the robovac, it will avoid the carpeted areas, and when the tank is removed, it vacuum cleans everywhere. You could also avoid carpeted areas by selecting to clean by rooms or zones. You can set up the no-mop zones once, and then the robovacs will remember this going forwards (so in effect, automatically not mopping a carpeted area)
      I hope that helps!
