I love how John tried to help and include his son and was so proud of him. My heart goes out to his son growing up without such an amazing dad. I hope he makes John proud 💪
i hope god takes care of that child. and i hope people watching these videos think of alex. and maybe one day even try to do something nice for him. hard to believe in god when he does that to a child fck
Whoever is uploading these videos know how much of a blessing this man's knowledge is for the world. Like knowledge being sent from heaven itself. RIP legend 🙏
God took the wrong life. This man had a purpose on this earth, I don’t. Spare his and take mine. He at least helped a bettered people’s lives unlike myself. Hate how this world works sometimes. RIP John Meadows 😢
Yo, I definitely miss John. Even though I never met the man, I truly appreciate everything he's taught us about fitness and to always be humble with others. Sir, you'll always be there in my memory. RIP
Second day of seeing Alexander since his dad passed. Truly breaks my heart seeing these two together. Watched so many vids with his yo yo tricks, hope to see them again. Take care Meadows family.
I had a dream about John Meadows last night, which brought me back to his UA-cam after 2 years. I woke up crying and heart broken all over again. Crazy how someone I didn’t even know could have so much impact on my life. He seemed like such an intelligent, down to earth dude who inspired so many of us.
A legend and titan in the game. John was loved from his hometown and to the international fitness community. When he spoke everyone would listen. RIP to this wise king and God bless his family 💪🏻👑
Brilliant advice.. Food is fuel. I have noticably worse workouts when not eating enough an hour before even eating a good meal the night prior. And feel much better having at least a shake 30 min to an hour after, and another meal an hour later and eating every 2 or 3 hours. I definitely used to overtrain, every group twice a week keeping the weight medium but higher volume.. Reduced to each group once a week and found 1 to 2 sets and lower reps but more demanding reps and intensity between the 6-10 range have yielded more strength and size being in a daily calorie surplus. More growth means needing more calories
Amazing how much John is still helping people when he’s been dead for some years now. Amazing how much content he must have recorded and props to his family for still uploading the content. Rip man.
Whatever I achieve in bodybuilding, John Meadows will be a big part of that. I’ve learned sooo much from him and I can’t believe it was all for free here on UA-cam. You will be missed, legend.
John is still alive in UA-cam ❤ Love all the videos and training. I was a bodybuilder up to my mid 30's and then got busy with career. A few years later I'm training again. These videos fill a big void as BB mags now don't offer much advice and theres a real lack of down to earth training. Mountaindog1 is great. Appreciate the weight management advice, needed to hear that as I've been wanting to eat before the gym, (I'm getting really back in to it). Couldn't figure out why but now i know my body was telling me what it needed-good nutrition for the workout and also to loose unnecessary weight. Computer work too is a killer- I lost nerve sensors and almost all my feeling and muscle in my left arm and just spent 4 months building myself up again to the point where I can bench press 60 lb, which is not much but it's a great start. Never stop bodybuilding!❤
What a wonderful father. This is literally my first time seeing this man, and I'm just now reading his is gone. I've only seen the first minute of this video, and knew he was a good man. God bless him and his family
The advice I give to new lifters is that it's a marathon not a sprint, understand you will need to adjust your lifestyle. It's ok to look at fitness goals in years because if you are natty that is just part of the process.
This is perfect. I started caloric reduction/intermittent fasting 3 weeks and needed some guidance on how to properly maximize training..... Mountain Dog to the rescue!!!
I was shocked just like everyone else. I still watch his content and use content for reference even today. Hope he is pushing iron in the big gym in the sky.
It's truly amazing & inspiring to be taught by such a humble & generous man, whose legacy will certainly outlive many of us. He's like the Steve Irwin of body building. He put so much effort, passion & enthusiasm in each of his knowledge-filled videos, as he freely gave tips to us all. It makes a big-hearted person want to attempt to emulate those awesome character traits. May his family continue to heal & may they be fully blessed beyond human understanding.
I was just talking about this yesterday. Such a tricky subject with folks who don't know about how many calories body builders have to eat. Or how low their body fat percentages have to be to get that definition.
As this video had just been released I was praying that John was still alive and I made a mistake. He will always be an inspiration and his spirit lives on!
My heart skipped a couple beats the moment I saw the recommendation.. I'm quite far away from the bodybuilding/powerlifting community now but he's still in my heart and I often think about him, Dallas and Cedric. Now Jo Linder too...damn!
I totally agree. I lack explosive power and intensity if I attempt to train in a fasted state. My preference is to eat a meal about 1.5 hours before a training session.
A great bloke, and it's hard to believe that he is no longer with us, but at least he is immortalised in videos like this which are a testimony to the calibre of man he was!
He has a point about high volume. If you are natural it is hard to recover from. But you do recover and it's great. You will need a Gatorade or something while training because the training will zap your energy after awhile. But the good news is you will start recovering faster eventually. Finding that maintenance and tracking food calories and macros is vital. And he did shoot a lot of content. He like the bodybuilding Tupac.
AS far as nutrient timing. It seems logical to bias your carbs toward the beginning of the day and bias the protein toward the end of the day. That way getting carbs straight to storage while you sleep but are getting the protein you need to repair while you sleep. And I typically eat my main meal of the day after the workout.
Man this video was exactly what I need right now. I remember when he did it originally but a good word for me today. Also is just good to hear John. Thank you.
Well everybody should go for a minimum 10 minute walk after every meal but yes walking is really really good recovery, it's a full body recovery movement where you could just walk 2 miles twice a day besides walking after every meal and you get a lot more natural activity in that isn't going to affect your overall training
I really should learn how to work out my calories. For me at the moment food is just fuel and although I am getting bigger i'm not very lean. I don't eat particularly bad, I just don't care much about what I am eating, portion size is another big one for me.
RIP to the best who ever did it. Hope his wife and kids are doing ok. I also hope that many in the industry have learned from his passing: Take care of your hearts. John took good care of his health and still suffered a cardiovascular event which greatly damaged his heart several months before he had a fatal heart attack in his sleep. Be smart about gear use and if you're going to use gear please get regular check ups and be honest with your doctor. Also: Please don't blast competition cycles after age 30 unless you have a good reason (aka you make money bodybuilding). It's not worth the long term effects on your cardiovascular system.
I love how John tried to help and include his son and was so proud of him. My heart goes out to his son growing up without such an amazing dad. I hope he makes John proud 💪
How many sets is that? Should I try protein?
What he has passed away?
@@toshaturner1610unfortunately
@@toshaturner1610unfortunately yes. He died almost exactly 2 Years ago. 😢

Great content bro*

@Marol - 100% agree…
Actually this is a reupload. But I don't mind.
Yo, I definitely miss John. Even though I never met the man, I truly appreciate everything he's taught us about fitness and to always be humble with others. Sir, you'll always be there in my memory. RIP
Oh cool thanks for your input on dieting for naturals. I'll try that.
Second day of seeing Alexander since his dad passed. Truly breaks my heart seeing these two together. Watched so many vids with his yo yo tricks, hope to see them again. Take care Meadows family.
He is a legend and his story should continue… RIP my man
You can be the biggest, toughest mofo in town yet have a heart made of gold. That father-son moment made me tear up. God damn it man!! RIP legend.
re-watching the older vids - damn, how John is missed! Humble, full of ideas and knowledge, accessible... ah.

That's incredibly unhealthy.

Being on a deficit is tough. Much ❤, thanks for posting
Thank you John Meadows for your huge heart and compassion to all of us. May you rest without regret and among kings 🙏
This is perfect. I started caloric reduction/intermittent fasting 3 weeks and needed some guidance on how to properly maximize training..... Mountain Dog to the rescue!!!
Every time I watch his video's its always with a heavy heart! Truly, a genuine caring man. My thoughts and prayers to his family. Stay strong 🙏❤
Yes people need to understand the importance of a pre workout meal in big sessions
I was shocked just like everyone else. I still watch his content and use content for reference even today. Hope he is pushing iron in the big gym in the sky.

Man I miss Mountain Dog… I hope his family is doing ok. It was a YUGE loss for all of us. I love that we still get new content from the master!!!
Great content, RIP! Having enough energy to fuel the workout definitely is key 🔥💪
I was just talking about this yesterday. Such a tricky subject with folks who don't know about how many calories body builders have to eat. Or how low their body fat percentages have to be to get that definition.
Shout out to him being a good supportive dad
I just found out about this great man a few weeks ago and sad to know that he's no longer here :(
