Also ask HOW MANY of your competitor is at a craft fair/event.. some are really good with being fair and limiting only so many …others just want the money and put way to many there. I won’t do a show if there is too high a ratio of my competitors compared to the number of expected attendees. No matter how good your booth is there are only so many candles someone will buy. And some of those shows are not cheap!

I agree. I used to do a market where there were only 2, maybe 3 candle makers. The last time I went, there were 7!! I was like, nope... I won't be back if they continue to allow that many there. Don't think money was a factor because the fee is only $45.00. I've been with this person for a whole, but... I just can't do that.
@@latricejohnson3210 yes I’ve learned when asked to do a market or signing up I always try to find out how many will be there or will they have a limited amount in each category. It’s simply unfair to everyone between the cost, set up time and work.

I just ship them normal. Lids are optional, but they can help with protection and shipping

Great timing and always great info. I am preparing for my biggest fair that I have done. It is 11 days and last years attendance was 543,000. How much inventory would you recommend for an event like this?

This is a stupid question in the age of information but how do you all go about discovering every venue or opportunity to sell candles at? Is there a specific resource we all use or just google fb and word of mouth?

At craft shows, do you charge sales tax or wrap it into your COGS? Im under the impression people dont expect to pay sales tax at shows. Am I wrong?
I don't think it matters. I've rarely heard a customer complain about thst. Most understand collecting sales tax is required. But yah, I generally just make my own a nice even binder that inside tax. Not for the reason you mentioned but because I don't wanna deal with change/coin at a show.

Nope. It's a small risk at most places. It might happened to some every now and again I'm sure... but very little impact in grand scheme of things
But be sure to watch his video when everything was stolen !! Makes you think twice
