This is such a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the song. Chance, The Hound & The Fox harmonize so well together. Their version of "Sounds of Silence" & "A Whistling Lad" are all terrific as well.
Chance is a remarkable talent....photographer (his instagram is awesome), writer, and singer...did you hear his deep bass ?? He gets to show off his lower range in this one
So beautiful. Hound + Fox collaborate with Chance and Tim a lot. I love this one and I love their rendition of Hurt, another Johnny Cash song. They did We Three Kings with Tim and just did a lullaby with him. Chance does a lot of guitar with them. 😍😄
I really enjoy "The Hound & The Fox's music. They've done a lot of collaborations with different members of Home Free & other artists. Their voices really suit the older folk style of songs & Chance blends well with them. This is a very old song that has been covered by many famous artists such as Burl Ives, Emmylou Harris & Johnny Cash.

The Hound + The Fox have appeared in at least a couple HF videos, Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reineer, the couple with the baby at the door when the HF carolers show up, and also they are the couple in the Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On mashup video too.
Yes, it was sung by Johnny Cash and on one of his albums. Chance and Fox and Hound also did " Hurt" together which was also done by Johnny Cash. It has a mood-setting as well and is done beautifully by the trio.
As many have said - it is an OLD song. Us "seasoned fries" were probably exposed to it by Joan Baz in the 60s. If you watch the really old HF videos, you will see the name FifGen on them - The Hound & The Fox were FifGen, along with Jimmy Barnes who still does most of HF's filming. And when you watch Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get it on, they are the couple in that video - they also did a cover of Thinking Out Loud that is a prequel to the HF one. H&F have collaborated with Tim, Chance, Jeffrey, and Peter Hollens a number of times. They just released a video for their cover of Pure Imagination with Peter and his wife a couple weeks ago, and a beautiful one for Dream a Little Dream just last Friday. Their catalog is as varied as HF's is, but in a different way. Enjoy their rabbit hole, too.
Isn't this gorgeous!!? I keep very little on my playlist that isn't just Home Free, but this beautiful gem is on it. Beautiful music makes me cry, as well. Your reactions are thoughtful and insightful and I always look forward to them.
I love The Hound+The Fox. They are very folk music oriented which brings me back to my early years. They also did many of Home Free's early videos. Chance and Tim collaborate with them most often. They were the couple with the baby in Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. They have a beautiful lullaby with Tim,named All the Little Horses. Thanks for your reaction Red.
The Hound + The Fox are awesome, and have done a lot of work with various Home Guys in side projects over the years, they are good friends. They even appear as actors in one (some?) of Home Free's music videos. They did some awesome projects with Tim Foust as well. I think that getting involved with Home Free will naturally introduce you to The Hound + The Fox as well as Peter Hollens. All fantastic and wonderful musicians/groups.
The Hound and the Fox are married couple Reilly and McKenzie Zamber - they started out making music videos for others (including Home Free), as part of FifGen, but 7 or 8 years ago, they started making their own music in this folky, acoustic style. They recently released a lullaby album, with collabs with Chance and Tim, as well as others. They have a lot of fans among the Home Fries, as talented musicians and good people, as so many of Home Free's friend and collaborators are.
They do a great job with this one but i think my favorite from the three of them is " Hurt". I also love them and Tim Foust singing " Hush-A-Bye ( All the Pretty Little Horses) . Thanks for the reaction
It has been a blessing for members of Home Free to collaborate with vocalists like the Fox and Hound. There is quite a network they have come along side and we the audience get the opportunity to hear some of these artists we might not ever encounter if this wasn’t the case. They are paying forward what several legendary artists have done in collaboration with Home Free. Thank you Home Free!!❣️. And thank you RHN for your part with these reactions!! 💖
Hey Red, sorry about being silent for a while but was on a cruise, did catch your reactions but couldn’t respond from South America. This is one of my favorite songs anyway but they did it up right in a little blue grass style! The old version I remember is Tennessee Ernie Ford! I sing it sometimes myself. Great reaction, we have quite a bit in common as far as styles we love! You will have to check out their Thinking out loud/ Let’s get it on cover by Home Free, an Ed Sheeron and Marvin Gay cover, featuring the Fox and the Hound. Love your channel! Low bass Kenneth
That part after her verse that you went back twice and replayed is my favorite part of the song. Your expression and the way it appeared you felt is exactly how I feel with that part. It also gives me chills all over! If you continue to watch the little bit at at the you’ll see that it will continue (separately) into their video of Sound of Silence which is gorgeous! These three also did another song that Johnny Cash covered late in life, which is “Hurt”. These three did an amazing cover. The Hound + The Fox used to be part of Fif Gen, a production company that did Home Free videos post Sing Off. They left to pursue their own music career. They actually started early on in a Home Free video cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”. It’s a sweet video! Maybe you’ll check it out. They didn’t sing, though. They were the actors in the video.
It was first published in 1858. Many people have recorded it. First time I heard it was back in the '60's by Joan Baez. You should go down the Hound + the Fox rabbit hole. They are fellow Oregonians so I'm kinda biased. You should have let the video play out til the end... it wasn't quite over. lol
This trio gives me Peter, Paul and Mary vibes. Their version of Sound of Silence is great. One that I really enjoy that doesn't get talked about much and which really surprised me when I first saw it is their version of My Mother Told Me. And The Hound and the Fox recently released a lullaby album, which includes Adam Chance on Puff the Magic Dragon and Jeffrey East on House at Pooh Corner and Tim Foust on All the Pretty Little Horses. All of which are totally worth a look.
These three sound so good together, they have another song, whispering lad, and my mother told me, so good, they have also done songs with Tim Foust too
That crescendo just before the end catches everybody. It gets replayed over and over. The Hound and the Fox have had non singing appearances in other Home Free videos. In Grand Ma got Run Over By a Reindeer, they were the couple holding the baby at the door. And I believe they were one of the couples in I Want Crazy. They are all good friends and work together on different projects. There are two versions of this song; Wayfaring Stranger and the one I am more familiar with which is sung in church, Wayfaring Pilgrim. I continue to love your reactions and look forward to the next one.
I am like you Red you can't pick a favorite from Home Free. I will say Chance is so good . all of them are great don't get me wrong. Chance is like a hidden gem. ❤❤❤#reaction #thehoundthefox #adamchance #redheadedneighbor
While all HF guys are excellent, Chance is my favorite voice and if HF ever disbanded (heaven forbid!) these 3 make an excellent trio. If you had played this video a couple seconds longer, you would have seen the trio turn to face the tunnel preparing to sing Sound of Silence. At the end of the SoS video, they turn around to face outward again. So cool to pair the 2 songs that way! I also like H&F's Whistling Lad, featuring Chance. BTW- Love your reactions to all HF and related videos!
This song is in the movie Cold Mountain. In that version it was sung by Jack White, it's very good. You should check it out, and watch the movie if you haven't. It's heartbreaking. As much as I like Chance, I don't care for this version.
This was a genius of a collab on so many levels. 1st they sound amazing together. The hound and the Fox have a wonderful soft folksy sound that I just cannot get enough of and paired with Adam's slightly mournful tone....perfection! 2nd- If you watch to the end, they turn around to face the other direction and in the lower right of the screen is a thumbnail for the Hound and & The Fox with Adam Chance singing The Sound of Silence, which was filmed in the same location with them facing the other way. And the videos were released on the same day, 15 minutes apart. So not only is the song brilliant, but the making and releasing of the videos are brilliant as well!
Never heard them before, definitely shades of Johnny Cash about it now idea if he recorded it or not. Nice performance and singing, nicely balanced! Well, you’ve done it again more stuff for me to be interested in! 🌹
You wanted some romantic songs for Valentine's Day. Try Home Free "Yours". Chance sings this like he is singing this to his soon to be wife on their wedding day while getting ready with the guys for the ceremony.
But how did the fox have sung a lot of beautiful songs! Are you saying another one with Adam… We three Kings. Check out their playlist! They made cameos in Home free videos… Grandma got run over by a reindeer, and they are the awkward dating couple in talking out loud let’s get it on home free video! Nice reaction!!
I'm a big fan of this song. Jack White did a beautiful cover. Weird how you have grey and gloom, across the pond. Same in Manchester UK. It originates from the 19th century blue grass, I think Burl Ives did something. Its a classic song. ❤ ❤
You should check out Rhiannon Giddens doing Wayfaring Stranger.... it is just her, her banjo, and the accordian player is Phil Cunningham from Scotland. Hauntingly stripped down....
4:34 Adam has a new single coming out on the 2nd of feb love that smile red and there is that glint in your eyes ❤❤sorry an wrong it was arve usless me😢
Tim did the Christmas song We Three Kings with the Hound & Fox. It is so beautiful. Worth a listen even though Christmas is past. The scenery makes it even better.
Home Free always has their friends along. Think they were at the door in a Home Free xmas video (Grandma got run over by a reindeer i think) their baby might have been with them. I love their musical skills. Very purposeful in what they do, and do it wonderfully. I didn't know they had done production work with Home Free. Cool. thanks to your watcher. Nice reaction to really good work.
That was excellent! I think you're right with Johnny Cash, or at least that's where I know it from. I didn't know it from the title but definitely knew the song. They gave it a real folky feeling to it.
This is a very old folk song - there have been other covers maybe Cash. on Hound and Fox channel they did a cover of Hurt. The other song these three did in the culvert is Sound of Silence on Hound and Fox channel
Now try Sound of Silence and some of Adam Chance's solo work. Don't forget Eva Cassidy and Lucy Thomas. Oh! I'll be adopting you as my granddaughter! LOL!
Yes -- Well Done / Done Well!!! HF and HF members have brought to the front several different "Peoples" (other performers/acts and the like) ... and Dong-gonit RoyGene ....... it's so so good. No matter if it's HF together, individual solo stuffs, HF Collabs or Individual collabs ---- my gosh it so good and I'll listen all day long. These "musics" don't receive the promotion they deserve; the "industry" has no desire in it (or the promotion of country musics even tbh).... THIS is how it happens! #BeattheSystem (monopolized systems) Be Safe
This is my favorite Chance/ H+F collab. (The second is The Sound Of Silence, recorded right before/ after Wayfaring Stranger on H+F 's channel. Another must-react to video. ) These three sound so good together.
A Whistling Lad (feat. Adam Chance) | The Hound + The Fox ua-cam.com/video/XCmJztFdUMM/v-deo.htmlsi=d4IfEFyuipdj-JWt Please please please This one haunts my dreams it wakes me and I must go to my computer and watch it.
The Hound and the Fox, just put out, Dream a Little dream of me. It says 3 days ago. They did a great job. They also did, Sounds of Silance, With Adam, in the tunnel also.
The Hound + Fox (Reilly and Mackenzie) have always had their own following, but through the last decade have also become part of Home Free's huge extended family of fantastic artists. Chance and Tim both have numerous collaborations with them -- all beautiful! You might also recognize them as actors in other HF videos! Chance has a leaning toward folk music styles, and his voice is perfect for it. I love this, and love your reaction. I, too, believe that your followers have an ear and appreciation for good music, no matter the genre!
According to YT, The Hound & the Fox were among my top five most watched groups last year, which honestly surprised me - along with VoicePlay and Home Free, which didn't! However, 60% of the music I watched was metal, so what you said about wide-ranging tastes is right on the money. I love this rendition - if you watch to the end you'll see them turn around, then they record _The_ _Sound_ _of_ _Silence_ video shot from the other end of the drain!
Wonderful reaction, Red. FYI- The Hound & The Fox were in HF's Grandma Got Run Over... they were the young couple with the baby. Also, you were correct, Johnny Cash did this song, and I believe Trace Adkins did a rendition.
"This was recorded by Johnny Cash?" Yes ma'am. Many artists have recorded this beautiful, haunting song. Eva Cassidy, Joan Baez, Burl Ives and Rhiannon Giddens (perhaps my favorite ❤) to name a few. I have never actually looked into the song's origin but love it just the same. The Hound & The Fox are incredible. Love their stuff. Nice reaction.
Slightly different version than what I'm used to, but that is the beauty of pure folk music. Different communities different States, even sometimes different members of the same family can have a different version that they prefer. I teach history so sometimes I use historical folk songs to illustrate a point. One of my favorites when we talked about the California Gold Rush is Sweet Betsy from Pike. I learn to sing it from my dad's collection of Burl Ives folk songs, but there are dozens of additional verses that came from different parts of the country.
Chase has great voice and they perform perfectly together its me again ive been rewatching all your reaction vids awsome now can we add voice play little mermaid medley featuring Rachel potter and Geoff castelluchi deep bass cover of jimmy deans ,big bad john cant wait so many songs so little time love your work thanks again
Helo,ur so beautiful,im ur viewers,i like to subscribe u,but first pls.do reaction to marcelito pomoy to his cover song THE POWER OF LOVE by celine dion❤❤❤❤❤
This is such a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the song. Chance, The Hound & The Fox harmonize so well together. Their version of "Sounds of Silence" & "A Whistling Lad" are all terrific as well.
"A Whistling Lad" is an obsession of mine, love it. H&F recently did an album of lullabies with some stunning songs.
Also the songs "Hurt", "The Wellermen" and "My Mother Told Me".
Chance is a remarkable talent....photographer (his instagram is awesome), writer, and singer...did you hear his deep bass ?? He gets to show off his lower range in this one

"Wayfaring Stranger" is a Christian hymn that arose from an African American spiritual song of the 19th century. The lyrics of this hymn illustrate the life of a Christian longing for their home of God's kingdom as a "wayfaring stranger" on earth. 1 I’m just a poor wayfaring stranger,
I’m trav’ling through this world below;
There is no sickness, toil, nor danger,
In that bright world to which I go.
I’m going there to see my father,
I’m going there no more to roam;
I’m just a going over Jordan,
I’m just a going over home.
2 I know dark clouds will gather o’er me,
I know my pathway’s rough and steep;
But golden fields lie out before me,
Where weary eyes no more shall weep.
I’m going there to see my mother,
She said she’d meet me when I come;
I’m just a going over Jordan,
I’m just a going over home.
3 I want to sing salvations story,
In concert with the blood-washed band;
I want to wear a crown of glory,
When I get home to that good land.
I’m going there to see my brothers,
They passed before me one by one;
I’m just a going over Jordan,
I’m just a going over home.
4 I’ll soon be free from every trial,
This form will rest beneath the sod;
I’ll drop the cross of self-denial,
And enter in my home with God.
I’m going there to see my Saviour,
Who shed for me His precious blood;
I’m just a going over Jordan,
I’m just a going over home.

I'm a big fan of this song. Jack White did a beautiful cover. Weird how you have grey and gloom, across the pond. Same in Manchester UK. It originates from the 19th century blue grass, I think Burl Ives did something. Its a classic song. ❤ ❤
💕💕💕💕💕💕
@@redheadedneighbor ♥ ♥ Thanks for playing. Its a good cover. A meaningful song passed down through generations.
You get prettier with every video you produce. Be well, DUke
Thank you.💕🥹
You should check out Rhiannon Giddens doing Wayfaring Stranger.... it is just her, her banjo, and the accordian player is Phil Cunningham from Scotland. Hauntingly stripped down....
4:34 Adam has a new single coming out on the 2nd of feb love that smile red and there is that glint in your eyes ❤❤sorry an wrong it was arve usless me😢
💕🔥💕
Johnny Cash did a version of the song, but I believe Burl Ives did it first.

I wanna talk to you
Enjoyed the song and the reaction.👍👍❤️
⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑
I wanna talk to you
I would love to see you react to 'Concrete Angel' by Martina McBride.
⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑
I wanna talk to you
Tim did the Christmas song We Three Kings with the Hound & Fox. It is so beautiful. Worth a listen even though Christmas is past. The scenery makes it even better.
Didn't you react to Gma got run over... reindeer?
Hound+Fox answered a door at the beginning with their baby.
Fun little Easter Egg.
⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑
I wanna talk to you
I did. I didn’t recognize them!
Hayde has a really good version of this song as well.
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
Home Free always has their friends along. Think they were at the door in a Home Free xmas video (Grandma got run over by a reindeer i think) their baby might have been with them. I love their musical skills. Very purposeful in what they do, and do it wonderfully. I didn't know they had done production work with Home Free. Cool. thanks to your watcher. Nice reaction to really good work.
A variation of an old hymn! We sing at church often!
Yes, Johnny Cash did do Wayfaring Stranger.

I wanna talk to you
Thank you, I thought so!
#THEHOUNDANDTHEFOX
💕
That was excellent! I think you're right with Johnny Cash, or at least that's where I know it from. I didn't know it from the title but definitely knew the song. They gave it a real folky feeling to it.
I think so
This is a very old folk song - there have been other covers maybe Cash. on Hound and Fox channel they did a cover of Hurt. The other song these three did in the culvert is Sound of Silence on Hound and Fox channel
⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑⇑
I wanna talk to you
This is an old, old song!
YES YES YES 1000 TIMES YES! One of my faves (Im a Chance stan 🤷♂️)
💕💕💕
Now try Sound of Silence and some of Adam Chance's solo work. Don't forget Eva Cassidy and Lucy Thomas. Oh! I'll be adopting you as my granddaughter! LOL!
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
Yes -- Well Done / Done Well!!! HF and HF members have brought to the front several different "Peoples" (other performers/acts and the like) ... and Dong-gonit RoyGene ....... it's so so good. No matter if it's HF together, individual solo stuffs, HF Collabs or Individual collabs ---- my gosh it so good and I'll listen all day long. These "musics" don't receive the promotion they deserve; the "industry" has no desire in it (or the promotion of country musics even tbh).... THIS is how it happens! #BeattheSystem (monopolized systems) Be Safe

I wanna talk to you
This is my favorite Chance/ H+F collab. (The second is The Sound Of Silence, recorded right before/ after Wayfaring Stranger on H+F 's channel. Another must-react to video. ) These three sound so good together.
💕💕
A Whistling Lad (feat. Adam Chance) | The Hound + The Fox ua-cam.com/video/XCmJztFdUMM/v-deo.htmlsi=d4IfEFyuipdj-JWt Please please please This one haunts my dreams it wakes me and I must go to my computer and watch it.
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
The Hound and the Fox, just put out, Dream a Little dream of me. It says 3 days ago. They did a great job. They also did, Sounds of Silance, With Adam, in the tunnel also.
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
The Hound + Fox (Reilly and Mackenzie) have always had their own following, but through the last decade have also become part of Home Free's huge extended family of fantastic artists. Chance and Tim both have numerous collaborations with them -- all beautiful! You might also recognize them as actors in other HF videos! Chance has a leaning toward folk music styles, and his voice is perfect for it. I love this, and love your reaction. I, too, believe that your followers have an ear and appreciation for good music, no matter the genre!
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
According to YT, The Hound & the Fox were among my top five most watched groups last year, which honestly surprised me - along with VoicePlay and Home Free, which didn't! However, 60% of the music I watched was metal, so what you said about wide-ranging tastes is right on the money. I love this rendition - if you watch to the end you'll see them turn around, then they record _The_ _Sound_ _of_ _Silence_ video shot from the other end of the drain!

I wanna talk to you
The most recent video from Fox and Hound is spectacular!
Remembered "Dream a little dream of me"
Adam has an awesome voice for story telling songs. Please consider doing a reaction to "Hero" by Mariah Carey.
Thank you.💕
And when they finished this, they turned facing the opposite direction and sang Sound of Silence.

It would have been a winner if you had watched until the end of the bloody video!!!
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
A version of this song by Peter Hollens featuring The Swingle Singers is one I go to often for times of stress.

*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
Nothin' like a great bell chord to get your attention.

I wanna talk to you
Wonderful reaction, Red. FYI- The Hound & The Fox were in HF's Grandma Got Run Over... they were the young couple with the baby. Also, you were correct, Johnny Cash did this song, and I believe Trace Adkins did a rendition.
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
Love it
"This was recorded by Johnny Cash?" Yes ma'am.

I wanna talk to you
I am so excited
Slightly different version than what I'm used to, but that is the beauty of pure folk music. Different communities different States, even sometimes different members of the same family can have a different version that they prefer.
I teach history so sometimes I use historical folk songs to illustrate a point. One of my favorites when we talked about the California Gold Rush is Sweet Betsy from Pike. I learn to sing it from my dad's collection of Burl Ives folk songs, but there are dozens of additional verses that came from different parts of the country.
*Thanks for watching❤️❤️*
That is brilliant to use music
