Love Chance's gravely voice here. He said in the premier that when he is working with Hound & Fox to call him the Wolf...lol
I have really grown to love Chance's voice. I can listen to him all day long. Any of the Home Free boys I cannot get enough of. I love all of them. But chances voice is mesmerizing to me.
I'm damned old now. One of the perks is that I remember this song when it first came out by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. It was forgotten for a while. Now I get to watch as artists - who weren't even alive then - rediscover this song and give it their own interpretation. Yeah, like you, I've heard it a million times. But it's such a gem, so well written, that it holds up. It's quite a blessing to watch this song over the decades. It has a life of it's own, now, and will still be going after we're all gone. It's something we all know, but it's quite an experience to watch it happen in real time.
They did "We Three Kings" with Tim Foust and it was fantastic. Also check out Adam Chance with The Hound + the Fox singing "The Wellermen".
One of the best covers of that song. I love it. My 4 year old niece loves sea shanties. It baffles her preschool teacher who is teaching her those.
I also love their covers of "Hurt" and "My Mother Told Me".
Funny story, I love The Fox and the Hound and was at the house of a friend of mine. She was playing a Christmas CD while we were talking. The CD went into We Three Kings and my head snapped up. I said that’s Tim Foust. I asked her what CD she was playing. She said oh, just something I picked up at Walmart. She showed me the cover and it was The Fox and The Hound featuring Tim Foust and others. It’s a great album, I recommend it highly.
Tim is very much unmistakable, and his low note is ground shaking

I really enjoy "The Hound & The Fox's music. They've done a lot of collaborations with different members of Home Free & other artists. Their voices really suit the older folk style of songs & Chance blends well with them. "Wayfaring Stranger" is a very old song that has been covered by many famous artists such as Burl Ives, Emmylou Harris & Johnny Cash. And they do a nice job of the classic song "Sound Of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel.
As one of the people demanding you react to this, thank you so much, and I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. I love the Hound and the Fox, and even started watching them before Home Free - it was so cool when I realised they knew each other and sometimes worked together.
I could give you a list of great music they've done, both solo and in collaboration - an original lullaby with KO of Pentatonix on cello (It Can Wait), for one - but if I had to pick one it would be the original Addams Family song they did for Halloween a couple of years ago - Rot Next to You.
McKenzie is their song writer, and Reilly their producer, and he also produces all of Chance's solo music. They do a lot of folk style covers of everything from Disney to Journey, but their originals are so beautiful, and they're both such nice people.
You might remember seeing the hound and fox with their son in Home Free's grandma got run over by a reindeer. And a couple other video's.
Call me crazy or old, the three of them remind me of a modern Peter, Paul & Mary.

Just simply both songs were done just perfectly. I agree Wayfaring Stranger was my favorite of the two. To hear that beautiful bass of Chance...so glad you got to hear him shine here. Have you heard Chance's lead in Home Free's cover of Cover me up ? It's amazing & I think you'd get a lot of things to chat about, especially how the video ends....because the video goes beyond the music and continues to something very special - it's a must see. It's really refreshing seeing people call chance a bass because he's always next to Tim so he can get lost in the mix but he is also an incredible bass
This is so beautiful. Chance's voice comes into its own here. Together with The Hound & The Fox it sounds great. In addition to having to stay in Home Free, I would love it that he works with The Hound & The Fox every now and then
Also listen to previous collaborations between The Hound and The Fox /Adam Chance such as My Mother Told Me and Hurt, all so beautiful. I often listen with my headphones on, dark in the house, eyes closed and then in a relaxed position on the couch. Then I completely relax
Their version of My Mother Told Me is my favourite, even better than Colm McGuinness in Old Norse, which is something special!

For someone watching The Hound and The Fox for the first time you really seem to be on the same page as them. They will sing you to sleep as they have many lullaby videos on their channel and yes, they have done themes from various video games. Tim Foust and Rob Lundquist have also been on their channel. Tim in We Three Kings and Rob in Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
Chance and Austin also have their own channel. I love the cover "Hurt" that Adam did with The Hound and The Fox.

I have to admit that I think Chance is even better with The Hound and The Fox. Reilly and McKenzie Zamber were producers of some of the early Home Free videos along with PTX and Peter Hollens vids. Just as Peter is known for layering vocals, Reilly is a master of layering instrumentals.
I think Chances voice is just a really great fit for folksy stuff

these videos' are so pretty! I like your reaction a lot even with a instrumental cover. H+F and Adam also did a cover of hurt which is also amazing! also if you don't mind getting a little Christin H+F did a absolutely gorgeous cover of down to the river with Peter Hollens and his wife.
I truly suggest listening to more of The Hound + The Fox. Even outside their collaborations, they have a bunch of fantastic covers.

Also if you want a little Chance solo check out ‘Oh de-lally’ which if you know Disney at all is from Robin Hood, it’s just him and the guitar, spontaneously recorded during a photo shoot.

We all love Home Free's a capella! It's sad we dont get to see them play instruments. Several of them can and are amazing!
Just a piece to point out (honestly, it happened throughout both songs) ... while you were off in lala land -- Hey, did ya notice? :) The transition from Adam to Reilley when "pairing" with McKenzie? The harmony and blends are amazing --- then again... this fits my ear very well.
These two videos are designed to be played back-to-back (-to-back-to-back-to-back). At the end of Wayfaring Stranger they turn to their positions in Sound of Silence and the outro music changes keys from WS's key to SoS's key. Then at the end of Sound of Silence, they turn to their positions in Wayfaring Stranger and the outro music changes keys from SoS's key to WS's key. You can literally just put these two songs on continuous loop.
H+F are spectacular! Enjoy this rabbit hole because it is as fun as Home Free’s.

So glad you reacted to these, more people should know about these videos and both The Hound + The Fox's music and Adam Chance's solo stuff. As a quick note (as I mentioned elsewhere), they do some cool things to loop the two videos around to each other, like turning around at the end of each video so they're facing the way they are in the next, and having the outro music shift keys in each case from one to the next. Just awesome little touches!

without a doubt this is my favorite reaction video from you, Mortius, and first ever hearing Chance away from Home Free. WoW! I use to sing this song well, the first verse anyway, when I was alone working in my kitchen. I learned it many, many years ago from a TV series called "Then Came Bronson", who actually sang this in the show. I fell in love with him, and the song (teenage-idol thing, you know), but haven't heard it since early 70's. Sigh. You just blew me away with your emo reaction to their harmonies and breakdown of technique in the vocals. Thanks my friend, you made me laugh AND sing along to an old crush song. Thank you.

You should really investigate the Hound and The Fox. They are a folk like duo. Their voices are angelic.

They were in at least 2 Home Free videos, Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, and Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. I love their use of that culvert too. I believe its on their property. Love both of these covers, but I definitely favor “Wayfaring Stranger” more! When they were about to get into the cut out part that you love, I was anticipating your reaction because I knew you would absolutely go crazy over it. I really loved your reaction to that part the most! That was pretty close to my reaction the first time I watched it! I had to go back several times and watch that part. Lol Their voices sound incredible together. You definitely should react to more The Hound + The Fox! I don’t remember if you have checked out Chance’s channel or not. It’s definitely worth checking. Unpopular opinion... I'm not a fan of the vocal/harmoic accrobatics in Sound of Silence. I feel it takes away from the message of the song. I loved Wayfaring Stranger tho.
