So for a bit of in-universe backstory, Viktor was actually a bootlegger for the Lackadaisy crew for a long time, but he had to retire because he developed problems with his knees. Mitzi chose to keep him on as a bartender. Rocky used to exclusively play violin for the speakeasy's band, and then he volunteered to become a bootlegger because he didn't want to see Mitzi or Lackadaisy fail

Lackadaisy is based on a webcomic that came out in 2006. Which is not done but went on hiatus for a few years to work on the "Animation Film Pilot.". So the world and character already have established characterization to them, but this is just to give you new viewer a few glimpses a good chunk of the cast.

The construction lines are intentional! Made to pay homage to the webcomic's sketchier style!! The Film-feel is probably moreso from how polished everything is and how it's not supposed to be too quick-paced, but they are aiming to have a series that follows the webcomic's focus on Lackadaisy vs. Marigold and other stuff surrounding Atlas (the cat in the painting). Also, glad ya liked Viktor's accent! He's my fav Slav boi from the since past Austro-Hungarian empire!!

It's kinda common sense. Look at how clean the animation is and how competent it is. Those lines would have been erased during the process, there would be no reason for them to still be present if they weren't intentional.

the opening poem was an ode to the Mississippi River, stating that "Old Man River" doesn't fully capture it

Agree about the music/sound effects. Since this pilot was funded by Kickstarter, if memory serves, the music and sound budget came from the stretch goals, so maybe if they get some studio money behind them, those aspects will become more robust. I've got my fingers crossed for a high-end mini series.

I believe originally it was supposed to be a short film. They renamed it as a pilot. I have faith that they will iron out the kinks.

Typical Millennial review. If you never seen a REAL cartoon that was not computer created, if it does not have your type of chaos music, if does not have sounds that dominates the dialogue and blows your ears off and did not finish Grammar School, you will not like it.

In case it has not already been said, and it was not figured out, Rocky goes nuts with the dynamite at the Quarry because it is owned by Sedgewick Sable (he says "Mr Sable" when asked to elaborate about the dynamite and machinery). Rocky has a thing for Mitzi BUT at one point in the comics you can see Wick kissing Mitzi, and Rocky happens to see it. Thus, him going nuts about destroying something Wick owns that is valuable. If I am correct on this part, Wick being wealthy and better than Rocky is why Rocky was more so enjoying destroying something that would ruin something Wick gets money from (and which would also set Wick back a lot in cost).
