It's dripping because it's a speakeasy, a tunneled club retailing alcohol during prohibition, that pretty important period in our history where they banned liquor. It's a beautiful indie pilot.

He hasn't actually been doing his job much because they're struggling and there's not been a lot of guests... so much so _he literally forgot what he was supposed to be doing_ and thought Mitzi was just there to chat.

The M16 was the replacement of the M14 which was the general service rifle. The AR10 was the favored in the trials of what became the M14 and the military later regretted choosing the T44 to become the M14.
For the record, the handgun Mordecai uses is the famous M1911 Pistol which, as the name would suggest, was invented in 1911, and so was most certainly available during prohibition.
ok Ryan we all know your mentely stuck in the 50s but the show is happening in 1927 doing the prohibition i been told that this story is apparently a web comic from back in the day, as far back as 2007 apparently i have never heard of it or read it but from what i can glean from this pilot the story is of a group? gang? what ever red dress cat and the rest of the table she sat with is, what ever they are they clearly use to have a successful bar/pop but now they hit hard times not only is the prohibition going on killing thire bar/pop business, but red dress cat also seem to have lost her husband who may have been co owner or the original owner of their business so now they they have scrambled together what ever alcohol they can to stay in business not sure why the grave robber cats were attacked but my guess is that the villain cats are from a riveling gang i can be wrong about a lot of points here but that's my best guess
You got the gist of it, yes. The Lackadaisy speakeasy was doing well until its proprietor was killed. The first few pages of the comic do give some additional context.
If you liked this, I cannot recommend the original webcomic enough. Every character here gets fleshed out, and the artwork progresses from good to fantastic!
The guns are a sawed off M1918 BAR, A 1921AC Thompson due to the Cutts Compensator a very low chance of a 1927 Police converted to full auto. What looks like a Bayard 1908 in 32 or 380 acp due to six rounds total. It was an underbarrel pocket semi auto very popular in the 1920s. So many in the US you can pick one up today for 400 bucks. A M1911 Colt. Some long barrel revolver even possibly dating to the civil war converted to cartridge, no closeup to narrow it down from over a dozen possibles.
I heard in one of their livestreams that the reason they kept the guidelines in was to make it clear that people made this in an age where studios are experimenting with AI to automate the production process of animation.
This takes place at the same time period as "the great Gatsby" story and not the 50s. Think 30ish years before the 50s. Hope that reference helps you more.
Clearly a lot of love and care was put into this project. Tracy Butler is a big history nerd and the original comic is filled with historically accurate places and small facts. I really wish this project'll get picked up by a bigger studio! Or that they get the fundings to continue!

They perfected a lighting style similar to Don Bluth's early independent productions like 'Secret of NIMH.' The circus tent Rocky imagines at the rock quarry is stunning.
If you didn't know before Lackadaisy first started as a comic series from the mid-2000s era like 2006 so its been around for a while now. The comic itself by Tracy is full of incredible detailed artwork as well as having well-done research info on the 1920s and Prohibition. Rocky poem from the beginning is from the comic and serves as a little insight of Rocky personality being a eccentric artful soul, a few details here. Rocky and Freckle are cousins also the Savoys siblings are Louisiana Cajuns, Mordecai used to work for the Lackadaisy speakeasy under Altas ( the former boss & Mitzi Husband ) before his murder & the one reason why he didn't shoot Ivy is due to her being Altas goddaughter.
Their fur is also so dense that if it gets soaked down to the skin, it’s impossible to properly dry it without a high-velocity drier. Which in turn leaves them susceptible to skin infections.
The reason they couldn't just go to Canada and get the whiskey is because American police were watching every vehicle that came over the border to prevent just that. Prohibition meant no alcohol , either home brewed or imported. So the funeral home smuggled it in somehow, packed them in a coffin, buried said box, and had a phony memorial printed in the paper coded so the bootleggers could figure out which grave and go dig it up. One detail I just noticed even though I've watched this many times: in the scene on the bridge where the musical note is on the rail road track; above the tracks on the overhead beams were clover symbols, which are the secret code emblem for the Lackadaisy speakeasy. The burned flower on Asa's lapel is a marigold, for the Marigold gang.

So yeah, when Rocky turned on the quarry lighting? That was actually a smart move since your eyes constantly adjust to light OR dark, so unless you're wearing an eyepatch to keep one eye in "dark mode" you cannot see in the light AND in the dark at the same time.
I feel that in order for it to be a furry show, the characters would have to be humans turned into anthropomorphic animals. However, from what I’ve heard from the creator, the characters are literally anthropomorphised versions of cats she knows or has owned. I think Rocky’s namesake was a childhood pet of hers. But, I don’t consider myself a furry and really have no idea what makes something furry. At this point in human civilisation, I think we should just accept it. History and archaeology shows that pretending to be animals might just be part of the human condition.
Ryan, I recommend also watching Long Gone Gulch, which was another animated pilot that was in production for years, and it came out 2 years ago, its pretty funny.

St Louis is riddled with limestone caves under the streets. Old brewers used to chill beer in them. To this day you can go on tours of some of them.

it was an officers gun in ww2. it wasn't until Korea that the US military had enough to have the front line troops have it.

Apparently, there was one McCoy who would sell alcohol from his boat, keeping it 3 miles offshore so it could qualify as international waters.
