This is so inconsistent because Sylas stealing ults for example doesn't benefit from passives. Sylas using Vel'Koz ult will never apply the true damage from hitting 3 stacks. But Mel reflecting Brand ult even triggers the Brand passive explosion on 3 stacks which is insanely bullshit. I don't remember if Sylas can also apply Brand passive, but I think he couldn't.
I was like "well okay it's not THAT bad, it's only relevant lategame" and then Vandiril hit me with the "Minion damage is also reflected" anklebreaker.
Samira is a champion that is extremely reliant on her R. Usually she goes to the backline and just presses her R. If she does it vs Mel, and Mel manages to find W on her keyboard - Samira is likely going to get nuked. Especially with any champ/minion/monster close to Mel. Mel's W has a surpisingly big hitbox. It's really not easy to avoid it. If you play Mel - stand close to allies or Samira. If you play Samira - I'd advise to ban Mel.
Of you play ANY champ with high damage projectiles, you should ban Mel... Veigar, Graves, Draven, Mf and baisically any other ADC. Im certain that this champ will have the loweest play rate of any new champ simply because if im ADC im not gonna take the gamble on my first pick picking the champ, its gonna be banned
Technically Mel W should be able to take away Kat's W dagger too, did you test that? Both Yasuo and Samira can cancel Kat's W dagger, so in theory so should Mel, but the hitbox looks very odd.
Also keep in mind - I did all the tests with Samira having full HP. If she's gonna be around 80% or 50% HP when she goes in this is gonna be much much worse. Enemies will be also adding their damage to it. So in reality - it can be even worse.
Release Samira was something else, RIP... She's all good now but not extending CC, E not working on turrets and teammates, *feels* so clunky. Wish they found a way to not completely remove those abilities but instead balance via number changes.

You shouldn't look at nerf or buffs in isolation, but instead at how the interact with the champ identity. Trundle champ identity is as split pusher that is good at killing tanks. He is not a team based champion. Riot might of thought that his pillar was too good in team fights and nerf that since otherwise it would be OP due to it breaking the champ identity.
the main difference between normal ability and ult is the cd so if it has a high cd who cares. Champ will probably get fucked hard by melee assasins and bruisers
The community will hate her, which is a bit funny because her reflect makes her one of the best counters to Teemo. If you reflect his Q, not only do you block one of his only damage abilities, but you'll blind him. Which matters A LOT because Teemo is honestly an auto-attack focused champion. The grand majority of his damages comes from autoing.

Have u seen the Kaisa interaction? When Mel reflects Kaisa's revolved q it doesn't do reduced dmg like Kaisa does. so a 2 item mel one shots a full build Kaisa with just her own q

Like, they've consciously made the decision that Mel gets to interact with other champions passives, ability combos, and items while no other champion does. For example, if she reflects Brand ult, she can get his passive. However, Sylas doesn't when he steals Brand's ult
Sylas does do it for some champions if I remember well? I could be wrong but I swear he fears when using fiddle's ult, despite that being a passive on fiddle's Q ability.
But then what would be the benefit of a reflect outside of some niche situations? I’d rather have a block that has more uptime than a reflect that only scales with what I build and has a very high cooldown. The way it is now is very rewarding for players with proper positioning and cooldown management and punishing for those, that just mindlessly press buttons in a fight without thinking where the attacks land.
I mean, it's a *reflect*. It's meant to scale off how much their cast would do. Sylas is casting the ability with his own stats, Mel is redirecting their cast, only it's converted into magic damage.
There's a reason why reflect abilites are so scarcely found in games, and I mean especially in pvp games. Just blocking and protecting nearby allies is already powerful, the damage should be kept on a tight leash.
Only other reflect ability I know in mobas is limited to unit target spells on the one reflecting. Sometimes you have to press reflect before the enemy casts too and not whenever the ability hits. This ability seems like it just gets the best of every world both unit target and AOE gets reflected and so do auto attacks im pretty sure and these can all be timed to be when it hits you and not on cast. So you can't even ignore mel to play around reflects.
@@kf532 Normally when there is damage reflection mechanics there is normally a threshold damage cap. Something like these. 1. Can only reflect X% of either the enemy or reflectors max hp or damage. Normally 10-30%. 2. Reflected damage is X% of damage done +/- Y amount. Normally 5-20% plus bonus damage. Mel W just seems ungodly broken and unbalanced as shit. The fact that her 1 skill more than denies half the ults in game, she also basically over denies half the skills in game. I guess the new meta is using spammy champs that can force her W or keep chinking her down.
It's only been in the downside in the last years cause whales in games usually buys stuff that directly/indirectly influencing damage, and reflect reflects that P2W and publishers don't want that. Dota 2 Blademail and MU(

It allows for mel to pick the dagger, if she bounces brand's ultimate it also stacks his passive and deals damage to himself and his allies and every other weird interaction, BUT when reflecting kai'sa's q or graves basics she doesn't have the damage penalty they do ¿

@@jakubwarenich4439 akshan revive is counter intuitive since let's say enemy gets quad kill, you would have to kill them all by yourself vs them and whoever else is left in order to revive your team if you're in a teamfight and let's say your adc gets last hit by a tank on enemy team and your mid gets last hit by enemy adc, you don't really have a choice in who gets revived unless you decide to throw or gamble it having a cd that straight up reflects all projectiles that hit it is far easier and effective to use than an ability becomes less useful the better you are doing, since this nullifies pretty much 90% of all dmg sources in the game and you can use it with impunity even at low hp so akshan revive like any recovery mechanic in the game is intrinsically on a feasibility-effectivity axis where it easier to use when least effective and most effective when least likely

Samira's stats will generally be trash. She takes more skill to use than the average ADC. The majority of people who simply pick her for fun are going to perform horribly as her.
Kinda absurd that Sylas can't properly utilize ults like Darius and Vel'Koz because he doesn't get their passives but Mel gets passives even if they aren't related to the projectile.
Considering mel used the dagger, even though its not part of kata's Q (bit she apparently applies brand's passive even if its not part of the reflected ability) who knows what other interactions there are

that exacly why the reflected damage, especially upon repeted reflects needs to be FAR lower, it would also be logical to make mel items proc not the items of the original caster.
Then that would just be Spell shield or old Fiora E then ( ikr it only reflects AA but that's not the point) It's a well known fact that spellshields are useless against spells that hits multiple times like Kaisa Q

Resistance and vamps against the reflected element. It's like how TM that's not rammus is useless especially when the attacker has lifesteal and magic resist. Last time I IIRC, both kat and samira can lifesteal/vamp from their ults, on top of resistance and sustain items like Sundered Sky, tankier/sustain allies, baiting, hard CC, magic resist/armor, sustain, or split push, or pick non-projectile champs/skills like Alistar/Kayne/garen. There's like 8 reasons still not dying even if hard countered, it's not like there's taunt skill that forces you to cast spells. Make that 9 reasons, if Mel allies didn't try to hard CC due to muscle memory trying to auto CC channeling abilities. Lastly, If it's really too unbalanced then people should be auto Grandmasters in collectively 24 hours by then, not counting games that banned Mel cause how would a too unbalance influence something if it was banned?
He already did a video with most of the champs. Taliyah's Q and R just get reflected as normal (Mel just summons the wall back at Taliyah). W and E of course can't be reflected because they are not projectiles.

She makes laning phase hell for Teemo. Teemo can't Q Mel, otherwise he blinds himself and ends up causing a hugely negative trade for himself because he can't fight back while blinded lol.
You should check it with Kai'Sa. Kai'sa has a feature where every missile after the first does 25% damage, but this doesnt apply when mel bounces it back. So when Mel reflects Kai'Sa Q, Kai'sa just insta dies
the funny thing is that everybody is so focused on Mel W that they forget she has permanent Smolder execute on her passive and an instant Karthus ult on any target she dealt damage to

Being honest, i think this is an awesome series of interactions, especially since it seems like Mel is expected to be a capable support champion. A ranged mage with a big playmaking ability that can be even stronger when up-close sounds great since it forces them to leave their comfort zone to make the best play. Even the two enchanters that like getting closer: Karma or Morgana, aren't incentivized to be as daring for the reward. It makes it so that, while it won't happen often, there is always a chance that the Mel player will be more exciting to face than most others like her.

To be honest I actually like this champion, compared to others realesed in recent years doesn't seem to be overloaded and having tons of dashes and mobility.
more realistic and common scenario is usually only going to be 1 person tbh usually when u actually peel for more than 1 person either ur team is actually coordinated or coincidence . Personally I think the fix for this reflect is to just gut its dmg its main appeal shouldnt be dmg but its ability to reflect cc and core abilities.
W reflect gonna be changed from 40-70% + ap scaling to maybe 40-50% and no ap scaling. And instead of being invulnerable it'll probably be changed to 80% damage reduction with maybe a little ap scaling so you can get it to 90%.

This ability has only few seconds longer CD at max lvl than Sivir's and and Riot thinks it justifies to make it this broken.

I don't know if she has a long W cooldown, but as an ability this might be one the most broken non-ult ability Riot ever created
It's...fairly long, but building full cooldown is already a viable build for every other one of her abilities so it ends up being not *that* long
Akshan has revive on basic ability without cd and you consider spell reflection broken.

if you're in a teamfight and let's say your adc gets last hit by a tank on enemy team and your mid gets last hit by enemy adc, you don't really have a choice in who gets revived unless you decide to throw or gamble it
having a cd that straight up reflects all projectiles that hit it is far easier and effective to use than an ability becomes less useful the better you are doing, since this nullifies pretty much 90% of all dmg sources in the game and you can use it with impunity even at low hp
so akshan revive like any recovery mechanic in the game is intrinsically on a feasibility-effectivity axis where it easier to use when least effective and most effective when least likely

Resistance and vamps against the reflected element. It's like how TM that's not rammus is useless especially when the attacker has lifesteal and magic resist. Last time I IIRC, both kat and samira can lifesteal/vamp from their ults, on top of resistance and sustain items like Sundered Sky, tankier/sustain allies, baiting, hard CC, magic resist/armor, sustain, or split push, or pick non-projectile champs/skills like Alistar/Kayne/garen. There's like 8 reasons still not dying even if hard countered, it's not like there's taunt skill that forces you to cast spells. Make that 9 reasons, if Mel allies didn't try to hard CC due to muscle memory trying to auto CC channeling abilities.
Lastly, If it's really too unbalanced then people should be auto Grandmasters in collectively 24 hours by then, not counting games that banned Mel cause how would a too unbalance influence something if it was banned?

Hey, could you test it with Taliyah's Q, W and E? I think it would be interesting, since her Q is like Lucian's ultimate and her W E are very unique
He already did a video with most of the champs. Taliyah's Q and R just get reflected as normal (Mel just summons the wall back at Taliyah). W and E of course can't be reflected because they are not projectiles.

You should check it with Kai'Sa. Kai'sa has a feature where every missile after the first does 25% damage, but this doesnt apply when mel bounces it back. So when Mel reflects Kai'Sa Q, Kai'sa just insta dies

Being honest, i think this is an awesome series of interactions, especially since it seems like Mel is expected to be a capable support champion. A ranged mage with a big playmaking ability that can be even stronger when up-close sounds great since it forces them to leave their comfort zone to make the best play. Even the two enchanters that like getting closer: Karma or Morgana, aren't incentivized to be as daring for the reward. It makes it so that, while it won't happen often, there is always a chance that the Mel player will be more exciting to face than most others like her.

W reflect gonna be changed from 40-70% + ap scaling to maybe 40-50% and no ap scaling. And instead of being invulnerable it'll probably be changed to 80% damage reduction with maybe a little ap scaling so you can get it to 90%.
