The briar ult one seems more liability than good thing. Since briar can 'trick' it by ulting from fountain and have her fling herself right into the fountain.
Same thing with amumu q instead of making amumu come to her by getting hit by q she reflects it and comes to him instead this seems like a silly interaction against some champions
I noticed that at 17:55, Urgot's ultimate is reflected and the reactivation symbol appears on Mel's ultimate. After the effect of Urgot's ult ends, Mel's ultimate goes on cooldown without her using it.
her ult can only be cast after reflecting the ability since she needs to apply a stack of passive, but the spell going on cooldown when urgot's timer ends rather than the overwhelm icon ending is weird
If you look above urgots head you can see the icon is blinking RED , that means her R will execute them because the stack threshold reached execute level . Same with minions , if they glow red your next attack on them will execute them . But it going on CD is weird so that is most likely a bug from urgots ultimate

Why does the reflected Pyke E stun her? 1:17 She stole Akshan's passive! 2:20 Brand's passive Caitlyn's E doesn't give her a headshot 3:50 It tried to predict where Ezreal was going, like how Senna's Q works 4:30 What about his cooldown refund? 7:25 Kai'Sa's passive and ult indicator etc edit: did not steal Senna's passive 17:55 it put her R on cooldown!
She even has custom indicator for Kai'sa's passive. Some engineers and product owners worked overtime for that Edit: oh wait nvm that is from that Kai'sa skin, mb
She doesn't steal passives, if the champion's passive procs through abilities, she gains the effects of it, but not all effects. It's caitlyin's passive, it gives Caitlyin a headshot. Ezreal's E is a targeted skill. Gnar didn't grab the boomerang. That's Senna's passive, same as Cait. Probably a bug.
but Brand doesn't have an empower skill, it stacks with his passive? did it count the moment she got hit and carry the effect back to Brand? otherwise it's buggy af.
@@sapk3532 yes brands passive makes it so whatever his skills hit will apply the passive, it just that normally it doesn't target himself and his allies
I very much want them to implement something that lets her actually use the second part of two part abilities, like Vex ult. Seeing as you can cancel the Briar ult with E, just like Briar, I feel like they should be able to code it in so that recasting W while a two part ability is being reflected will recast that ability. Other than that, fantastic work, as soon as I saw her W I wanted this video. Thank you.
I mean, it's not like it makes any difference, it's the last skill she maximizes, and at that point she already has enough mana to the point that if the skill costed like 100, it wouldn't matter
Doesn't seem too bad really. Judging from how it interacts with like briar ult, it looks like shes just negating the projectile and casting it again. I cant tell if skillshot abilities get point-and-click auto tracking, but in either case it would either be reversing the vector of the projectile or just casting it with point-and-click tracking turned on
But there was an option to "recast" urgot ult when she reflected r1 onto him. Obviously, he didn't show if we could or not, but I'm pretty sure that is what the trailer showed
@@TheQxtm If you look at previous times where something has been reflected, the ult lights up, but doesnt have that timer like the ult does when the urgot ult is reflected. It also puts mel's ult on CD weirdly enough.
@@kylekresse8667super weird that it put Mel’s ult on CD. You’d think they would have ironed out the bugs on an ability interaction shown in the trailer.
Cant wait to see viegos interaction with reflected passives! Wonder what would happen if you reflect varus R for example, then kill him transform into him and use abilities, would it proc the dmg from Mels reflected w's passive?
higher cooldown + deactivates after the first deflected ability, and its balanced imo, still busted in lane but needs good timing to thrive in teamfights, like a stronger but less often sivir e
passive give a fix movement speed for attacks and abilities, w can ricochet to the whole team, targets behind tanks, e blocks abilities, r gives movement speed for entire team, duration resets upon kills
The briar one makes the least sense but holy shit is it funny. What I'm getting at is it isn't reflecting the projectile, it's destroying it then recasting a new instance with Mel as the owner.
17:58 after reflecting Urgot ult although it didnt use the second part of his ult, it did highlight Mel's ult not just lighting it up for her passive but with a timed box around the border. Maybe she still needs to recast to get the execute? otherwise not sure why they'd show it in the champion showcase video lol
Either: they missed a part in the code that lets you recast the skill or it auto casts it OR: they changed their minds about recastable abilities that force their way in to the Mel's kit to prevent more bugs
17:57 pretty sure you had to press R for the urgot ult, you can see the timer on it, and after the timer her own ult went on cd for like 90+ seconds, so im pretty sure thats a bug, her normal ult cd is like under 80 seconds from what i remember, so that was definitely urgots ult lmao
But Urgot ult should also activate by itself at the end of the timer, if the target is low enough. As that didn't happen, I think pressing R would just have cast her ult instead but not the reel in of the Urgot ult. But I think that interaction is definitely bugged, as the reel in will take Braum an execute him if he blocks it, yet here it didn't do anything.
@lubue5795 her normal ult doesnt have a timer around it when its active, so it probably would've activated urgot ult imo?, also yea, it could activate her ult instead, but definitely bugged
im almost sure that removing the cdr of spells in pratice toll is making some interactions not work as intended. Mel can (as of her teaser) recast urgots R. If that is the case, maybe it would be nice to test again sylas R@Vandiril
A few things to add (Leona especially): Akali Q (works as expected) Brand E (If targeted nearby ally, the jump to you can be reflected. If targeted on Mel with an ally nearby, it reflects the jump to that ally) Draven R (blocking it AFTER it hits Mel, will make it instantly return to Mel and end it. The next Draven R does no damage) Graves Q (After his Q does the first portion and before it lands to do the comeback part, Mel can reflect it to make it hers and do the second part retargeted towards Graves) Katarina Q (Lands a dagger, which can be stepped on by Mel. She spins and does the damage of it. Doesn't effect E CD) Katarina R (Reflects as expected, does more damage if allies stand behind her) Leona E! (Depending on timing, both can get rooted, or Mel will jump to Leona. ALSO: Mel can cast Q when reflecting, either slightly before or after, and she will dash to her Q, NOT Leona) Pyke E (standing on his start cast location stuns you both. Also, reflecting E will chase him until it hits him, even after teleporting around in practice tool) Urgot Q (Can be reflected before hitting the ground) Urgot R (Note: As shown, doesnt work as trailer showed. Sets Mel's R cd to max)
When using Lux against Yasuo you can cast e with the center of the ability just a little bit outside the windwall and when the ability arrives to the point and expands if yasuo is standing near the windwall you can hit him, maybe you can do the same against Mel, bait his reflector with lux e but casting the ability trying to hit Mel with the outter part of the ability and not the center so it arrives to the point, expands an instantly proc it
she's literally a counter for almost every skillshot/mages champs (I said ALMOST not all) (Omg i just realized she can counter teemo the satan pretty well because if they tries to blind you they're blinded)
Yeah... It seemed like Urgot's R recast tried to substitute her R, and you can see this by the yellow thing around the skill... So maybe the Urgot being pulled by his ult in the cinematic is intentional, it's just bugged? Weird how it put HER ult on cooldown though.
I can't imagine how Rito will balance this for pro play. Imagined the best players in the world being able to turn almost any ability or ult back on the other team.
they gave her a weak early game thats how dev keeps all champs from proplay, they said in pro the early game is everything thats why we dont see that much scaling champs in pro and when we do they have 100 supports to well support them
I honestly don't think it will be that bad. After all, it's not "almost every ability" as there are a ton of champs and kits that don't have a single projectile. And many projectiles she doesn't want to reflect like Nautiuls Q or AmumuQ. So this spell is a hard counter for certain spells, but entirely useless against others. So, she will only be meta if other meta Champs have strong projectiles that are worth bouncing back. And we also don't see a lot of Braum in play, despite him too countering projectiles. Not to forget that she's a midlaner and there are many other things she has to do to be playable.
They will definitely switch the W for her R like with tahm kench but obviously they will make the champ overtuned for no reason except to buy the skins
Been playing league since 2017, and nah, I don't think it's unbalanced. Dota 2 has this ability on AM (with insane 3s cd and shareable with shard upgrade). There's also an item that does the same thing, but doesn't block, only reflect, with reflect duration of 6s. Both are honestly super situational uses. In pro play, they just auto that reflecting motherfucker down. You can reflect spells but you can't do jack shit against getting hit.
ok the function of the w is for every ability attack who starts like a projectile, but don't work for ability attack who starts and ends like a zone of damage,i think
Two questions: 1) Can teammates pick up Mel's reflected Thresh W? 2) When reflecting Zoe's Q, does the missile damage stack off the extra distance gained by the reflection?
I mean it will only negate Mel from sleeping her Allies won’t be covered, and the only one Mel sleeps is lillia herself. So in a scenario where Lillia applied passive to all 5 of Mel’s Allies and Mel reflects, it would turn into a 4v1 ( Lillia would be asleep and Mel’s team except her would be asleep)
@@jasonescobar1828 - Depends. If Mel stays in front of her team, she can reflect all, or most, projectiles from her R. Just like Yasuo can delete all of them. Her shield acts like a barrier, she can stop things that normally wouldn't be stopped to convert them into her ability - doesn't matter if aimed at her or not.
Lilia R and Vayne E are the 2 most interesting interactions out of all of these. Kinda weird we didnt test Aphelios... Feels like his R and Green Q would be very weird with the auto attack part and the fact that her passive stacks a big auto
Little addition on how recasts seem to work: If the recast is a straight-up different spell (say anivia Q2, ziggs W2, akali E2, urgot R2), Mel won't be able to use it whatsoever, because she doesn't obtain the new recast spell. So, all recasts - or at least all of those i can think of right now - cannot be used by Mel. In the case of Urgot R specifically, i'm guessing it cannot pull because the execute part of the spell is reserved to the recast (R2), and doesn't exist in R1! And since R2 isn't given to Mel, she can't execute. On the other hand, spells that require another "spell position" to be used, like Briar R that requires Briar to use her E to cancel the berserk, *do* work, as in Mel simply needs to use E to get out of briar's R effect. (it works the same if Sylas steals Briar R, so it also seems to be consistent). Meanwhile, i wonder if Nautilus Q and Thresh Q, when reflected by Mel, refunds a part of Mel's Q if it hits? Are there other projectiles in the game that can give a spell refund, or has an interaction with a spell "slot" specifically that Mel could utilise? Edit: They changed urgot's R interaction! Now you know why it didn't work in the first place, at least.
Vast majority of abilities are not a projectile. Take WW, Aurelion, Wukong, Garen, etc. all those champs have no proiectile in their kit whatsoever. And there are many projectiles that are simply not worth reflecting like Brand Q, Ornn Q, etc. as she can't do anything with them afterwards and her W has around 35 -22 seconds CD. Throwing it out willy nilly will just get you punished.
She counters skillshot AOE CC ults like Renata and Seraphine extremely hard. On the other hand, the best counterpicks against her are the champs that get their main skillshot value even when they are reflected. Amumu Q, Briar Ult make her jump into them. Nautilus Q only changes who took the damage.
@@Janders797- Not only them - I'd say champions with recast skills are very strong against her. Lux with E and Gragas with Q can just poke her and force her shield out - and she won't hit them if she reflects because she can't pop the explosion.
Looks like it's probably just using Wind Wall's logic, based on that Pantheon ult. For anyone he missed (I noticed Talon myself, but there are others in the comments) I'd bet you can just look to any chart that shows Wind Wall interactions and assume her W will reflect it only if Wind Wall cancels it.
1:15 Did she get Ashkan's passive as well ??? She got a shield, how did she get a bloody shield otherwise ?? She literally steals the entire champion's kit.
@@zephloe both of these and probably others were it reflects more then just the spell has got to be unintended right? also saw it used brand passive. abit unfair that it uses more then it says it does. and Sylas ULT doesn't do this.
@@FlameBlueNova Sylas Ult is weird, someties it steals "more" and sometimes it doesn´t, it is very inconsistent as far as I know. @schokokeks149 well jaxs empowerd aa is in his ult and kaisa well he couldn’t ever use it if he didn't get part of her passive. Pretty sure it only works with cc tho and doesn't give extra dmg
I like that she turns the reflected abilities in gold. I wish Sylas did this when copying ults. Like when he turns into the champion at cast but in a purple model.
It makes sense that he doesn't, honestly. Mel can reflect, and she turns the magic around for them - but Sylas steals the magic, that's his thing. He doesn't have a copy, something edited or reflected, he has the pure magic he stole.
0:38 it doesn't reflect Ahri Q it mirrors it. If it was reflect it would only return to ahri but it hits ahri and goes back to mel despite the fact she didn't cast it.
This is my biggest question tbh. Really seems like it should be a bit too much for the reflected abilities to track enemy location. It should just be reflected in the same direction it was originally cast. There does seem to be some indication in this video that there is some tracking happening.

1. Does Briar W get reflected?
2. What happens when Mel tries to reflect Irelia E's initial cast?
3. Does unenpowered Jayce Q get empowered if it's reflected version goes through Jayce E?
4. Can Thresh W be used my Mels teammates?
5. Can Mel stack Tristana E? Does it have a Cooldown reset?
6. Does the Vayne E bug push her toward Mels base, or just (0,0)? Does it maybe scale with the distance to base/(0,0)?
7. Does Braum passive stun work after you reflect Q?
Thanks for reading! :)
Vandiril you missed Shen! His Q can be blocked by Yasuo/Braum so I expect Mel to steal the Q :D

3. If Ezreal has a reflected W on him, will Mel's autos/abilities proc it? (The video only shows a reflected Q proccing it, I want to know if Mel's stuff can)
4. If Mel catches a reflected Gnar boomerang or picks up a reflected rock, does she get the corresponding Q cooldown partial resets?
5. Does it still reflect Galio and Gragas Qs if they finish moving before you use it?
6. If Mel reflect's Heimer's turret shots, does it target the turret or Heimer?
7. Does a Viego-Irelia benefit from the Unstable debuff of a reflected Irelia ultimate?
8. Can an ally Sylas ult to Kai'sa after her W is reflected?
9. If casting E ends reflected Briar ult early, does the same apply for pressing Q to travel to the Lee Sin mark?
10. If Lillia's E is reflected, can an ally Sylas use Lillia ult off of that?
11. If Lulu Qs with Pix on someone else, does the reflected Q go towards Pix, Pix's current host, or Lulu?
12. Do Mel's autos proc Lux passive after reflecting one of her abilities? In the video, it looks like she has the passive mark on her. If not, would a Viego-Lux be able to proc them?
13. Same as the Lee Sin question earlier, can Mel press E to blink to a reflected Lissandra E?
14. Can an ally Viego-Quinn benefit from Quinn's passive being applied from reflected Q?
15. Similar to the Lee Sin and Lissandra questions, can Mel cast Q to redirect Renata's Q after it lands?
16. Same question again, can Mel press E to pull Swain after reflecting his E? Same question, Thresh Q?
17. Do Mel's autos empower the Tristana bomb after reflecting it?
18. I think you missed Twitch E, I'm pretty sure that's blockable by windwall. If that was missed, does it base the damage on how many stacks Mel has, or how many Twitch has?
19. Do Mel's abilities proc the Varus passive?
It looks like there was a recast indicator when you reflected the first part of Urgot R, try pressing it there to get the result from the cinematic. (The indicator doesn't show up for other recastable ultimates like Vex R)
20. Does reflected Blue Card restore Mel's mana?
21. Do Mel's autos proc the Vex passive after reflected E?
22. After a reflected Braum Q, do teammates' autos continue stacking the passive?
This is what autism looks like

please vandiril check interactions with viego and with when there are the mirror ally on your own team to see if your new projectile will interact with their abilities/passives like above asked, it would be interesting to see. like for example a regular jayce Q going through allied jayce portal or even enemy one?
does morg R get reflected?
also, if mel intercepts a point and click projectile targetted someone else, who will the new target be? for example AAs, veigar R etc.
and, do distance travelled scaling abilities like ashe jinx R etc seem to calculate their scaling based on their travel time from original source? or rather does the calculation reset when they become your projectile?

But Urgot ult should also activate by itself at the end of the timer, if the target is low enough. As that didn't happen, I think pressing R would just have cast her ult instead but not the reel in of the Urgot ult. But I think that interaction is definitely bugged, as the reel in will take Braum an execute him if he blocks it, yet here it didn't do anything.
@lubue5795 her normal ult doesnt have a timer around it when its active, so it probably would've activated urgot ult imo?, also yea, it could activate her ult instead, but definitely bugged

A few things to add (Leona especially):
Akali Q (works as expected)
Brand E (If targeted nearby ally, the jump to you can be reflected. If targeted on Mel with an ally nearby, it reflects the jump to that ally)
Draven R (blocking it AFTER it hits Mel, will make it instantly return to Mel and end it. The next Draven R does no damage)
Graves Q (After his Q does the first portion and before it lands to do the comeback part, Mel can reflect it to make it hers and do the second part retargeted towards Graves)
Katarina Q (Lands a dagger, which can be stepped on by Mel. She spins and does the damage of it. Doesn't effect E CD)
Katarina R (Reflects as expected, does more damage if allies stand behind her)
Leona E! (Depending on timing, both can get rooted, or Mel will jump to Leona. ALSO: Mel can cast Q when reflecting, either slightly before or after, and she will dash to her Q, NOT Leona)
Pyke E (standing on his start cast location stuns you both. Also, reflecting E will chase him until it hits him, even after teleporting around in practice tool)
Urgot Q (Can be reflected before hitting the ground)

17:55 why did Mel Ult get on cooldown from reflecting Urgot ultimate? That doesn't make sense

3:00 Caitlyn appreciates your warmth
Somthing to notice is its very random what passiv effects gets applied with the abilities reflecting. Brand passive does, but not akshan or nida
Two questions:
1) Can teammates pick up Mel's reflected Thresh W?
2) When reflecting Zoe's Q, does the missile damage stack off the extra distance gained by the reflection?
@@kylepatrick2231
1 they can
2 don't think so
Zoe only took 33 damage from her own reflected Q. Even at rank 1, that's way too low for as long as it traveled, so I'd bet the answer to (2) is no
AND APHELIOS?
Ok this is a very big nuance! She takes ownership of the ability! It's like she cast it wow...
7:56 EXCUSE ME
It is a projectile. Yasuo can block Lilia ult with wind wall
Wait till you find out that mutiple champs xan block her r because it's a projectile
🎵I am rubber you are glue, what bounces off me sticks to you🎵
Lilia R and Vayne E are the 2 most interesting interactions out of all of these.
Kinda weird we didnt test Aphelios... Feels like his R and Green Q would be very weird with the auto attack part and the fact that her passive stacks a big auto
The countless amount of times i mumbled "fuck off" under my breath while watching this video XD
Little addition on how recasts seem to work:
If the recast is a straight-up different spell (say anivia Q2, ziggs W2, akali E2, urgot R2), Mel won't be able to use it whatsoever, because she doesn't obtain the new recast spell.
Commenting to get this to the top
Balance aside, this has to one if not the coolest and most fun abilty in the game. But damn is it OP af, she almost has every ability in the game.
@@lubue5795it’s also her only defense, and her other abilities are very one note to compensate. She’s a very simple mage which I like
@@lubue5795 at 3 items she can get it down to 15 seconds
Everyone mostly gonna taste their own medicine while Morderkaiser like :
U re still going to Brazil 😂
So this is where they put the reflector champion, after moving it from Sylas, to Aurora, and finally we have it as Mel.
1:15 Did she get Ashkan's passive as well ??? She got a shield, how did she get a bloody shield otherwise ?? She literally steals the entire champion's kit.
The autos from Briar Ult also left a bleed, so it seems like it pulls a bit more than only the ability
Sylas gains the AA apply plasma part from Kai´Sa for example and I think jax empowered AA as well, so it really seems kind of random if Sylas gains "another passive" as well
@schokokeks149 well jaxs empowerd aa is in his ult and kaisa well he couldn’t ever use it if he didn't get part of her passive. Pretty sure it only works with cc tho and doesn't give extra dmg
gracias Vandiril
4:12 two fizz?
Thanks for the video, great stuff straight to the point. Noticed Zyra was left out, surely the E Interacts somehow?
8:57 so skillshits do not track the enemy champion but are shot towards their direction.
But why does Lissandra E change direction halfway?
This is my biggest question tbh. Really seems like it should be a bit too much for the reflected abilities to track enemy location. It should just be reflected in the same direction it was originally cast. There does seem to be some indication in this video that there is some tracking happening.
