Wow my city has changed so much its crazy to see some things that were once here in my lifetime that are now only in my memory..... History is so fascinating
I wasn’t born in this time I was born in 01 in San Antonio but seeing my family home videos from the early to late 90s like this one, man San Antonio seemed like such a more wholesome city back then seeing my older siblings in the home videos going to the original kiddie park, and Malibu, and fun town, and pear apple county fair. Just seemed a better time for San Antonio
@@joeschmo9953 KSAQ was on 96.1 from 1982-1993 KSAQ flipped to Rock Feb 2 1991 and 2 years later KSJL AM moved to the FM dial to make room for KZKS 760 known as WOAI-760 then in 1994 became Talk Radio KTKR 760, One year later in 1995 it would flip to present day 760 The Ticket Sports Radio. The KTKR calls stand for K TalK Radio. KSJL would then move back to AM 810 and on FM 92.5 replacing KTXX Big Tex Country out in Devine. Which that station would also go through a series of changes to KHTY Hot 92.5 Mainstream Urban, then to KRPT Real Progressive Talk 92.5 Air America, then it would flip to Conservative Talk Radio The Patriot, then to it's present day Country format. KSJL ended their Urban AC format in 2007 and flipped back to Christian programming as Star 810 KYTY. The KSJL calls lasted from 1984-2007 here in San Antonio..
Most of what you were seeing in this video, as far as the strip across from the Alamo, was still around in 2000! I remember because I frequented this area when I worked downtown. There was still that Dillard’s, La Tienda, Pizza Hut, Ripleys etc.
Tour operator was not only announcing the local attractions but he was handling that manual transmission real smooth.

Crazy they mentioned lone star, shell of its self now, pretty cool to explore though
I was in pre-k this year - some of this looks unfamiliar. I didn't know we had a pond in front of the tower.

I was born a year later. So cool to see what it looked like back then
32:45 2 Live Crew mentioned. KSAQ 96 was the only station to play their music. KTFM didn't.
96.1 is the frequency, but I thought the call letters were different back then. KTFM of course is 102.7.

1:20 Pizza Hut next door to Q96 and 76 KSJL Z-rock studios. Closed in 1998 Crockett St/ Alamo Plaza. Eckerd's would also shutter in 2001.
