"Honest guv, there was a bloke flying a drone and he went that way 😂" That crater was much bigger than we were expecting, it's good they are keeping it as a memorial place.
Thanks we couldn’t believe it was down to a private buyer to save it and no national organisation stepped in Re the drone I always feel o have done something wrong lol 😂
As always a brilliant Vlog. The historical information is excellent. You find the most idyllic park ups and the kingfisher. What more could I want. Thank you. Take care Gill
Know what you mean about police abroad. Interesting history. The Lochnagar crater was huge. Pleased they’ve left it as it is. Beautiful wildlife especially the kingfisher
Thankyou - we could not believe the crater was in private hands and big with one of the many public charities I feel I needed a better camera to capture wild life shots
I'm with you Stew ( Tina). I'm the sort of person that walks around shops hold my purchase high up in front of me and NEVER...EVER reach into my handbag to get my glasses. Just in case they think I'm trying to shoplift! 😅🐕🚙
Hi Stew and Jane, We're really enjoying travelling around Europe with you. Thank you for sharing your adventures. We really like how you give the what 3 words for each of your locations - Helps us if we're planning on a similar trip. Happy and safe travels Bets wishes Tim and Nicky
Thank you for the vlog we have added yet more places to our must visit list when we an get a bit more time away from home. There is nothing like a good waffle 😂😂
Stew, you looked so guilty lol. Those cakes just launch themselves at you don't they.? We find the same, no matter how much we try to avoid them. Ah the waffle. Goodness knows, Keith has to do a lot of editing of my waffling on. That crater was amazing and sad.
😅 "Hello. I'm Stew from England!!!" 😂😂 I agree. More needs to be said about that crater. Nice park up at the end with the kingfisher! Thanks for sharing. Ju 😁
Lol the crater was great but still don’t understand why private ownership had to save - but thankfully he did The parkup was so good and the wildlife was all around Thank you for watching
Fascinating story behind the Lachnager crater. What a lovely park up by the river and some great footage of the kingfisher. They’re pretty hard to capture so well done x
Yes the private ownership was a strange one as it could of just fell into disrepair Wrong camera for kingfisher but glad with what I got Thanks for watching
That was a great vlog, as a teenager I went on a history trip to the Somme area & visited lots of those places. Back then you could walk down into the crater. Thanks for bringing back lots of memories for me.
You two me laugh with the banter between you both. I needed a good laugh, my pain level pretty high. So to laugh & my mind taken off it was so needed. Love your vlogs are so interesting & scenery beautiful. Thanks. Lynne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨💜💙👋🏻
Thanks Lynne. Your comments have all been lovely and really mean alot to us. Sometimes we get a bit despondent with our views but comments like yours really spur us on. So thank you again. Jane 😊
Thanks for sharing a very interesting vlog, the war memorial and the museum, and all the history attached to Lochnagar Crater, not quite fair that it should be kept up privately... Your park up stops are beautiful as well as the wild life....Living so far away and such different surroundings I greatly enjoy it all. Next comes Northern Ireland ????
Hi there - yes the fact it could of been lost if it was not for the owner dismayed us that one of the historical organisations didn’t step in I am glad you enjoy seeing our adventures and yes we are just in our way back next week from a winter trip to Ireland and it tested us at times lol 😂
So it wasn't the drone police then😂 Karl already has Thiepval on his list already, as well as many other places including the crater. Interesting story about the man who bought the crater. Such a shame when buildings like that get left to ruin. Nice place to spend the night though and wonderful to see the kingfisher.
No I always think I have done something wrong lol 😂 Amazing the crater was saved by a private owner Karl will enjoy the crater just down from there there is trenches restored by the locals I seem to recollect
Ello Ello Ello what’s happening here then 😂 Glad you didn’t get marched off to the station Stew 😅 Enjoyed the history (if that’s the right word) it’s so sad with the chair 🪑 Jane, G was going to edit a video of ours today (I usually do all the editing) he’s come downstairs & said he’s not doing it, due to me aimlessly waffling & repeating myself 🤣🤣 I blamed it on the menopause 😇😉 Lucky to have captured the kingie on film. 😁 Thanks, Em & G 💜
Glad you enjoyed - the crater was very interesting but so surprised it was privately saved I am afraid we both waffle and trying to be succinct and interesting is sometimes hard for us amateur creators
I had never heard of this crater before but Tyneside caught my eye on the info poster you showed. I grew up in Tyneside area (now living in the USA) so I had to research it. Very interesting! Love your videos ❤🇬🇧
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it - as ever we hadn’t heard of it till we came across it in stories as we travelled and followed our noses - we couldn’t believe it was privately owned and protected as such an important piece of land
Great vlog, love Jane's waffling😂, great shots of the kingfisher😊. Heads up.... use your phone rather than O2 app for data usage. It worked great for us. O2 25GB each / month max 62 days fair usage.. Total 100GB for two people for two months , We have just swapped to EE, roaming thrown in free, now get 50GB / month each, for full 3 months while away and saved £15 / month total 300GB😊 Regards Howard.
Yes thats where I got to eventually. Still cant believe in this day and age it's a problem. I wouldnt mind it being delayed 24/48 hours but not updating the information at all .... 🤦♀️ jane
Great vlog really enjoyed thank you for the what 3 words it’s interesting to see the areas and good park ups . So the French flying squad didn’t get you or Jane for droning on 😂😂😂 sorry. It’s great to see your set up and how you mange ,I’m just finishing my own pop up transit so you’ve given me lots of ideas thank you both and good luck 👍👍👍🏴🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
Oh my! I'd never heard of the Lochnagar crater. The empty chair is so simple and moving. What an interesting man Richard Dunning sounds. I'd love to see a kingfisher one day. #bucketlist
Yes we learn something everyday on a trip and Jane is great a sniffing out unusual facts First time I’ve see a kingfisher for any length of time as very timid
Hi ya i noticed on your list you had ad blue. We are doing a 2 month trip in a couple of weeks .Can you tell me where you got ad blue and is it easy to get. Like Stew im a bit of a worrier lol. We love you vidios. Best wishes Mick
Guys.. Tesco mobile is still doing free EU roaming. I use a TPlink 4g dongle with a Tesco SIM when in Europe... Cheaper than a local SIM. Just a thought.
Enjoyed that. Love how you research the places you visit. Never knew Lochnagar Crater was privately owned. Keep on waffling Jane 🙂 The kingfisher was beautiful 😍
Don’t tell her that I need a silence break lol 😂 Never managed to capture a kingfisher but having the right gear would be even better Thanks for watching
loved the video guys but your Mrs doesn't half go on, do you have to put an ear plug in your left ear when you are driving and nod and say yes now and again😄
How / where did you research all your WW sites from please? I tend to follow battlefield / backroad tours to see where they visit but I’m seeing you are going to some very different sites. Ta
Hi Christine. Various sources really. Stews knowledge is quite extensive in WW 1 and 2. - so his brain for 1 lol - some you tube channels sometimes as well but in the main we drift and zoom into google search which reveals alot and also talking to other travellers and locals. Some of our best places have come from a simple chat with local people. Jane 😊
That's interesting Jane what you were saying about O2. I'm with O2 now, was with 3, but they charge £2 a day for data usage in Europe. I must say you both seem very relaxed while driving, old hands at it now. Great watch guys, really enjoyed it. 👍🐸

Harry is 2l diesel - I sometimes say petrol when I just mean fuel - he is the higher 170 ps so is nippy but I would buy the 130 if I had my time over again for mpg reasons

Stew, you looked so guilty lol.
Those cakes just launch themselves at you don't they.? We find the same, no matter how much we try to avoid them.
Ah the waffle. Goodness knows, Keith has to do a lot of editing of my waffling on. That crater was amazing and sad.

No it’s a diesel 170ps automatic
@@getawaygeeseOK, I was going by the page in your log-book where you had "petrol" listed .......

The memorial tower you saw is in commeration of the 36th Ulster Division. A copy of "Helens tower" from Clandyboy in Co.Down.

So nice of you to say thanks for watching
I am surprised that Harry is not diesel fuelled, you get far more milage from diesel.
Harry is 2l diesel - I sometimes say petrol when I just mean fuel - he is the higher 170 ps so is nippy but I would buy the 130 if I had my time over again for mpg reasons
I got a 130 it’s very good 👍
For the amount of driving you do, would a diesel not be more economical?
Harry is a 2 litre diesel but it’s a 170 ps so has a bit of umph but has a lower mpg
Are you a Pisces Stew?
No an Aries ♈️ why what have you seen on me lol 😂
Whys your nose so red ?
