I adore cottagecore. My home is a mix of cottagecore, traditional, Parisian elegance and vintage. All these styles are readily available to thrift, came it all works well together
I like the homey cottage core stuff and I've always ( for decades) said my decor is cottage style. However, we recently moved to a senior apartment in an absolutely craftsman building. And I happen to have inherited several pieces of mission style antique furniture so cottage core no longer works for me nearly as well as mission style. While I do still have all my cottage style furniture like a coffee table and end tables & my large whole wall entertainment center - all those are also natural oak so I feel they do speak well together with my mission style oak pieces. It feels like cousins from the same family - a little bit different and yet a little bit the same.
That sounds lovely! While I love cottage style I also love craftsman and mission style as well. Right now we're in a very cottage-style home but I always love the idea of decorating to compliment what's already there and it sounds like you're doing a lovely job of that! ❤
What a fun thrift shopping video. I thought the canister is at 7:57 we're definitely cottagecore. Maybe we have different definitions for that but I have to say I love everything that you showed
Thank you!! I definitely think they could fit in perfectly with the cottagecore style, they just initially reminded me of more of a Sweedish primitive style, which is totally in the same family!
Hi! Just came across your channel. I'm A lover & collector of anything old.. primitive, antique, old vintage & regency/Victorian. I love thrifting & antiquing! We've recently moved from Tennessee to Florida, but we actually owned a large thrift store for about 5yrs in TN. Fortunately we never had to shop for it.. it was completely filled with donations from people in the community, estate sale items, left over things from garage sales & flea markets. I love anything made from wood.. large or small! I do love collecting wood side chairs or small chairs to sit around for decor, some functional, some, well wouldn't advise to sit in them😄 I love the rocker, very pretty!! I always pick up little wood shelves, including the shadow box type, but especially the ones with the pegs! I love using them all around, in all the rooms. The one dish you picked up with the Victorian picture in the center & gold trim.. my mom had a set like that when i was growing up🥹 They come with different pictures, i don't remember the exact one she had, but they're all pretty! I google Lens everything, that's how i find exactly what a piece is, the age & the value.. we used it at our store, great tool! And super simple, works on anything you take a picture of.. including plants, insects, cars.. anything! Great to identify old pieces! I love thrifting linens! The old ones are just so comfy😊I think gingham is so pretty! Both sets of the valances were so cute! I love old quilts or anything quilted, the pillow cases were very pretty! Oh now I'm a lamp hoarder of antique or old vintage lamps😄 I love all sizes, glass, brass, wood.. all the above! The one you looked at & the ones on both sides.. I loved! I would have probably give $15 for it, it was probably worth much more! Of course i would have google Lens'd it first to make sure, but I'm thinking it was pretty old! Lol I'm sure one or more would have come home with me🫣 So many beautiful one's, as well as the last one you showed! That would have been a hard decision😄 I love copper.. love collecting the jelly molds, same here, i love the old ones with beautiful patina! Never been to A GW outlet or bins as some call them. There weren't any close by our home in TN. But there's one not Too far from me here in FL, so want to plan a trip soon! Everyone finds the best things there! I'm in a suburb of Tampa, just 30min out.. I'm overwhelmed with how many thrift & antique stores are within minutes & up to an hour away.. antique malls too🤯 There's 10 within 6min and 11 more in the next little town, just 10min up the road! I quit looking them up & counting😄 I'll just go! I love any type of hand stitched pieces❤ The cottage plates were precious😊The shelf you picked up with the brass pieces was beautiful! I love picking up little wood stools & small upholstered ottomens. Oh that blue plaid chair was very pretty & looked super comfy! And yes please.. give me ALL the doilies, napkins & hankies😄 and the ones with stitching are super sweet! Very cute armoire for a little girls room! I want to collect some transfer ware in all the colors, in the plates, saucers & platters, just mix it up, & do a plate wall. They have such fire patterns, but will all go together still. I glad you got that Victorian look saucer, i would love to have a set for my everyday dishes, just wish i knew when pattern my mom had🫤 They are very vintage, hard to find a set. I enjoyed shopping along with you, so many great stores! Not sure what area/state you're in! Lol i get very chatty on the shop alongs😄.. but I'm a chatter box kinda person🫢 Nice to meet you & lol forward to more videos!
You're so sweet!! Thank you for coming along with me 🫶 I'm a hoarder of old vintage lamps too! I need to stop because there's already too many in my basement. Would definitely recommend a trip to the GW Outlet/bins - if only just for the experience! they definitely are a unique one 😂 I can only go if I'm in the right headspace because they definitely can be a little overwhelming. Thank you so much for all your kind words, it is always so nice to connect with another vintage/old things lover ❤
@@JosieMichelleDavis yeah all my lamps, along with all my things, are in storage right now due to the move😟 ughhh drives me nuts! But at least they're safe.. just pray nothing gets broken or I'll be devastated! I know they're material things, buy the thing with collecting these old pieces is most times you not going to find another just like you have like you can in a retail store. I know lots of things you can find another, but when it comes to true antiques or very old vintage, those special pieces, finding another is not the case🫤 And That would be the case with pretty much ALL my lamps! Lol girl you know when we get ready to bring it all from storage to Florida I'm going to be a nervous wreck😬 I'll be doing some heavy praying!🙏🏻
I love those ideas! If I didn't already have several bits of fabric waiting their turn to be transformed into something else I would definitely take you up on that idea 😅
Hi Josie I am brand new here and I'm wondering if those cottage theme plates might not make a nice display on a kitchen wall? You might not know it but your resources for thrifting are amazing and those prices! (You can easily double them in my area and I am in a rather poor part of Pittsburgh Pa. Glad to be here. Martin.
@@martindurkin8837 you’re right, they would be super cute on the wall! I’ll have to grab them if they’re still there next time:) I am definitely thankful to live in a spot where the pricing is still decent, whenever I thrift closer to the cities the pricing is always double at least - It’s crazy! Thanks so much for watching! 🩷
@@JosieMichelleDavis My pleasure, I'm watching your door renovation project and kudos to you for being such a hard worker! (As an old renovator I'm sure your door is pine the thickness of the stock and the glass are where all that weight is coming from.) I love old houses.
I'm sorry if I misspoke - I did know it was $15! That still is a bit out of what I was looking to spend on a little lamp. And yes, definitely lucky, there's lots of goodies when I go digging!

I would have used the tea pot with the missing top for flowers 😍
Love that idea!
Your finds are perfect for a cozy cottagecore vibe! 🏡

The gingham valances and curtains could be used to make scatter cushions, table runners or basket linings but perhaps you have enough of those.

I was coming to comment the same thing. Dining chair covers, pillows, etc

The little lamp was $15, not $50. There is certainly a lot of items to decorate cottage core near you!
That’s what I thought

Can u tell me what area u are shopping
I'm in Southern New Jersey :)
Why would you ruin those beautiful candlesticks with the palm trees painted the blue sky and green grass? They were beautiful as is.
