In Alberta, ground is frozen solid , down to over 5 feet. Frost doesn’t leave till late April , soil doesn’t warm up to mid 50’s F until mid to late May
I’m in northern Illinois, USA, normally our ground should be frozen solid but the past few years have been unusually mild. Air temps will be in the 50’s F next week.
@Premier_lawns_official it just goes to show how open a rye sward can be this time of year. It isn't especially dense and I have found the same on my lawn. One side is fescue with a bit of bent (new), the other rye fescue which has a fair bit of yellowing and a bit of dieback with all the wet weather. Heavy soils have definitely done worse. It would be nice to have Richard back again.
Yes, hopefully for season 2. The podcasts are all getting filmed in Jan and Feb and then put out over the year. If it's successful I'm sure Richard will come back, i think all three people who did the first podcasts would be invited back
I got my flame thrower out yesterday and tried again to burn away the weed grasses and trying to get rid of the poa seeds. Tried last year but if I get to the weed grasses early, burning might work. It helped a little last year.
@@Premier_lawns_official I just wanted to a big thank you, I went to your website and saw the grass seed mix that you use for renovations and have ordered the exact same mix. It is mostly different types of fescue and 30% ryegrass. Nice tips, thanks. I have what seems a never ending problem with Leatherjackets. 4 years in now and I do about 8 double treatments of nematodes every year. Yet every spring I'm left with large bare patches and thin grass. Every year I either dig it all up and start again or scalp the lawn, verticut and then re seed and top dress. It comes up lovely every year and it's pretty soul destroying having to go through all that again! I use a ryegrass with a 20% fescue from The Grass People. Any tips would be very welcome? Ta

Nice one Robbie. Following your previous videos, I’m all stocked up now with liquid seaweed, ammonia sulphur and iron sulphate. Even better, I gave the lawn its first dose earlier today, minus the ammonia, so fingers crossed. Quick question on the nitrogen. Is it too early to add a wee taste?
