Scotland. I water my orchids with banana water once a week. I steep a banana skin in a jug of water over the ❤week. Also wipe the leaves clean every week too. Love your videos. I have binned so many plants over the years because of ignorance. Thank you. Going to add aloe Vera this week and a pinch of yeast. Been to the orchid gardens in Singapore which are stunning.

I might have missed a video on this but I would like to know the benefits of an airiated pot over a solid pot. Also, repotting while buds and blooms are present. Thank you for your videos very helpful and calming.

However, if repotting is necessary, be gentle and try to minimize damage to the roots and stem. The best time to repot is after the flowers have faded, giving the plant time to recover.

Hello from Central Texas! 😊 Air roots are an important part of orchids as they help the plant absorb moisture from the air, especially when the orchid isn’t fully potted in soil. If the air roots are growing too much, you can leave them to grow naturally if they’re not interfering with the care of the plant. However, if they’re getting too long or messy, you can trim some of them, but be sure to cut right above the growth point to avoid damaging the plant. Cutting air roots doesn’t harm the plant as long as it remains healthy and gets enough moisture and light.

I just started with orchids and it seems like bright not direct sunlight and the right watering times is crucial. He explains all this.
Scotland. I water my orchids with banana water once a week. I steep a banana skin in a jug of water over the ❤week. Also wipe the leaves clean every week too. Love your videos. I have binned so many plants over the years because of ignorance. Thank you. Going to add aloe Vera this week and a pinch of yeast. Been to the orchid gardens in Singapore which are stunning.

As for repotting while buds and blooms are present, this can cause some stress to the plant. However, if repotting is necessary, be gentle and try to minimize damage to the roots and stem. The best time to repot is after the flowers have faded, giving the plant time to recover.

Air roots are an important part of orchids as they help the plant absorb moisture from the air, especially when the orchid isn’t fully potted in soil. If the air roots are growing too much, you can leave them to grow naturally if they’re not interfering with the care of the plant. However, if they’re getting too long or messy, you can trim some of them, but be sure to cut right above the growth point to avoid damaging the plant. Cutting air roots doesn’t harm the plant as long as it remains healthy and gets enough moisture and light.

Here in Australia, bark is the recommended medium. I have my orchids in bark…should I repot them?

However, you should check if the bark has decomposed too much or become too compact, which may prevent the plant from growing properly. If you notice that the medium is degrading, it might be a good time to repot. When repotting, you can also check the roots and trim off any damaged parts, replacing the old bark with fresh bark for better growth.

Regar desde arriba (asegurándote de que el agua no llegue al centro de la planta) es un método común, pero algunas personas también eligen sumergir la planta en agua durante unos minutos, especialmente si la planta necesita más humedad. Sin embargo, regar desde arriba está completamente bien, siempre y cuando evites mojar las hojas y el centro de la planta. Lo más importante es no dejar que la planta se quede en agua por demasiado tiempo, ya que esto podría causar que las raíces se pudran.
