- I found this idyllic mountain hut in the Slovenian alps. I went hiking, foraging mushrooms, fishing and did lots of cooking and eating. It was a beautiful time alone in the mountains.

Not only do baskets look cool for collecting mushrooms, they have a very important function. A mushroom is the fruiting body of fungi, and they have millions of spores in them. Having them in a a basket helps to spread the spores as you walk around and thus having more mushrooms in the area!
Thanks for the information
Oh wow, that is really cool news. I love mushrooms. People eat them here and forage for them in the wild, but there are so many that will kill you, I choose to stick with whatever is sold in the local grocery store.
Yes this is very good info! Also always flick before you pick, give the mushroom a few flicks before you pick it to help drop spores for regrowth
hi friend, greetings from me.
we have fun where we catch very fierce land monsters, and of course have their own sensations. Let's go on an adventure to Indonesia in search of the excitement of catching very fierce land monsters

Yeah okay, but he probably only would’ve gotten a fraction of the views if he did name the video that. I get why he does it and it’s a good video nonetheless
I know right ! Click bait title just disappoints
As a Slovenian🇸🇮 I am very happy that you decided to visit our country. You also have several fans here. I hope you had a wonderful time and visit us again!😊
Slovenia is most beautiful !
Slovenia is so beautiful. Such an underrated country
This is slovenia!? :D i was wondering :D
Looks very special place, beautiful!
I wanted to live in this kind of place so bad. No city noise, no nosy neighbors, just nature.
@@Joselox I have lived all my life in a toxic and stressful city. I don't mind living, settling and dying in peace. 🤣
@@Joselox By that logic, nobody who uses the internet enjoys the outdoors, which is obviously BS. Can somebody not like hiking if they watch the Simpsons too? 😂
I live in New York so I completely understand that. My dream is to live amongst nature. Just waiting for that to happen one day

I almost expected Heidi and Grandfather to appear in your video. This is literally the depiction of their home in the Alps. One of my fav children's books of all time.
That's exactly what I was thinking. 💟
Wow. your thoughts are amazing
I came to this video because i was looking for someone who lives just like the surroundings of heidi, and here i am reading your comments just like what i am thinking🤣
LOL
Wowww. Me tooo. Love Heidiland. Dream of it always
Oh man, I just sat down with a breakfast I spent 30 minutes making + a large cup of coffee and Alex uploads a 44 minute video!? There's no way! My lucky day.
I have just done exactly the same 🤣 today is a good day ✌️
Haha me too !😂
Enjoy!

@@just_alex Thank you Alex, you're one of my favorite creators.
It's so great to see you being aware and being present. It's a gift to have this ability this young. I am probably not too much older than you, but my path to being present involved more than just being alone.
Talking to yourself is not a bad sign. It's also not strange to feel not lonely. When I was traveling alone, there was a point when I felt anywhere is my home. So long as the sky is above my head and the ground is below my head, I have am home.
Sorry for the ramblings. I love your videos.
I'm so proud of you brother, I feel you completely because it's my dream to do what you do, you got me very emotional and in tears because this video represents calmness and peace for me, I wish you all the success in the world. Mad respect

Exactly what they said, my dream too, I feel the same way. Thank you so much Alex for sharing & still being humble doing it.
at the end of the day we are all somehow striving for calmness and peace..

Never has an account inspired our weekends as much as yours. By that I don't mean time in the Alps but just getting back to nature and the basics. I spent my 20s and 30s following my football team around the country. Now we spend time in the country. The original fishing account inspired us to pick our rods back up. This account has me walking all over the wilderness! Thank you for what you do. Well done and good luck.

@@just_alex thats not a move. click bait good bye !
How is this clickbait, I wonder? So you packed everything up and made the decision to go back to the basics of life in the mountains. That is what this is about. That is not clickbait. However, no one is making them watch and they don't live there.
Just Alex, best of wishes to you in your life there. I admire your life there. It looks so peaceful and beautiful. Nature at its best! I don't blame you for desiring that life.
Spending time somewhere and moving somewhere are two different things. Generally speaking, when we say “moved” it implies more permanence.
I absolutely adore this video! I'm deeply moved by the serene beauty of the Slovenian Alps captured in your adventure. As a 40-year-old living in Pakistan, watching your journey stirs a longing within me to experience the tranquility of living off the grid in a mountain hut. Your connection with nature, from foraging mushrooms to fishing and cooking over an open fire, resonates with my own dream of finding solace and simplicity in the mountains. Your video has inspired me to cherish the idea of migrating to such a serene place one day. Thank you for sharing this breathtaking experience with us!
This far and away my favorite video I’ve ever watched on UA-cam, and I’ve been around since the beginning. I’m home sick in bed right now and I just felt like I was literally transported to that mountain along with you. Your editing skills are A+, I am honestly so impressed. Instant subscriber here and I cannot wait to see your Austrian adventures! Best wishes to you for continued safe, happy, and life changing travels-your parents clearly raised you well.
Have you watched Karl Watson travel documentaries?
Now your journey has really begun. Don’t stop with Europe…travel the world and take your viewers along for the ride! Good luck.
Please travel to Beautiful Golden Uganda, The Beautiful Pearl of Africa ❤️
i am honestly so suprised whean people come to slovenia and are so amazed by its beauty beacuse i am used of the views and the all other things and i take things for granted here. Honestly it makes me happy to listen to somebody talking about the country and its beauty it makes me apriciate the country even more. It makes me remeber of the great times i spent up in the moutains walking and helping a speapard make cheese and fire wood and meeting a good friend from america and all of the said its a beutiful country.
Exactly, you don't appreciate it since you're used to it. Same as going to another country, and being amazed at something that might seem normal to the locals. Guess it does go both ways
I love how you are so curious and interested to try out anything, your experience is a teaching in itself for all of us here
I really loved how you collected so many varieties of mushrooms and used them so interestingly for your soups and flavouring. It's incredible to see you have them fresh, dried and powdered. Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful content and your fascinating journey.
Nice job young man. Your peaceful, perfectly balanced delivery of detail, beautifully captures your story. Thank you for sharing.
Correct
You are a legend Alex, one of a kind, dont ever stop.. keep making these amazing videos and UA-cam will be recommending you to a wider range of viewers.. so so glad you are doing what you love and thank you for taking us on your journey 🙏
I feel like I went to that cabin with you.
You did all the hard work and running around and collecting, and I got to benefit from it.
It was beautiful, educational, and entertaining. Thank you!
Min 6:00 Did you know you can remove those iron rings depending on the size of the pan/pot you are cooking with? It allows you to cook with direct fire and you remove those rings with a spetial hard wire that has a 90° angle on one end to catch the rings from that centre hole. Great place! Great videos. Congratulations for your new challenge. Greets from Buenos Aires, Argentina
I was so exited when I realized you were in Slovenija! It’s my home country:)) I’m really glad you could enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature it has to offer! My only critique is, please cut the mushrooms while they’re still in the soil, don’t just rip them out, for the sake of reproduction and hopefully more abundant years like this one! Also pro tip, cleaning the mushrooms in the forest doesn’t only guarantee you a less of a mess when you get back home, it is also more weight efficient if you’re foraging large quantities of mushrooms!
I hope whoever reads this applies this knowledge the next time they’re in the forest picking delicious fungi:))
Good advice, & your country is beautiful :)
Yes cutting the mushrooms from the soil means that it can regenerate more.
Yes - I thought the same thing. I'd also add that the baskets not only look nice, but their open weave allows mushroom spores to fall out on the forest floor whilst being carried around, thereby also helping their reproduction.
No, cutting the mushroom and leaving the leftover of the leg will make mycelium to rot and die. The correct technique of picking mushrooms is to carefully hold the leg and twist and pull it from the bed. Then ideally cover the mycelium by moss or bark.
Thank you, great tips!
Wow! People talk about living the dream and that is exactly what you are doing my friend. Keep it up, Alex. Loving the journey you are taking us on.
Cheers Paul! 😊😊😊
It would be nice to have a pet along for company.
This is called "Slowing down and living life full measure". It's the most incredibly perfect feelings. 😎
Great job making a video of your experience in the alps. Felt like I was right there with you. Always learning and growing; keep it up brotha!
I dont wish to take you away from this incredible moment of just living your best life but I do also hope this journey allows you to find your ultimate purpose - your personal growth is so impressive to witness
Cheers! :)
The purple flowers you mention in the vid are called "Herbszeitlose" in german - they are showing, that autumn is coming. Absolutely adore this little cottage - this is, what I would love to buy and stay in my retirement, in a close future. The best point of it: That it is so isolated from other people. Concern to the tree/fungus connections: Some say, the roots and the mushrooms in the ground are the internet of the woods. A pro tip from someone, living in the alps: It´s always a good idea to have a good rain poncho with you ;)
Thanks for the info!
The purple flowers are crocus flowers, from which (some of the species of this plant) saffron is collected. Be careful, if the specie is Colchicum Autumnale, as referred above, then it is poisonous and the poisoning is similar to this one by arsenic, with heart and kidney failure amongst other!!
Thank you for taking us with you! For me, that was more than I would ever get to adventure in a lifetime, and absolutely perfect!! Wow!!
Your documentary skills at shooting a footage and editing it to a welldone video is absolutely fantastic. Thank you for sharing this!
this is a DREAM. you are so brave to do this on your own. I must say, the owner is very clever for building that hut there, it is so secluded and must be such a great experience, I bet she has some great reviews haha
This was so great! I asked my husband if he wanted to go to Slovenia with me, to that cabin, that it is off grid. He said he was interested until I said “off grid” 🤣🤣🤣. You have another subscriber. Thank you for sharing your adventures and for being real. Have a blessed day!😊
Wow, this video is absolutely breathtaking! The scenery is stunning, and the mountain hut is so cozy and rustic. It looks like such a peaceful retreat, and I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been to disconnect and spend some time alone in nature. I love how you foraged for mushrooms, fished, and cooked delicious meals - it's the perfect way to connect with the environment and truly appreciate all that it has to offer. Thanks for sharing this experience, and for providing all the links to follow along with your adventures on Instagram, TikTok, and Twitch. I'm definitely going to check them out!
What an incredible place! The cabin, the woods, the view, it's all so beautiful!
I'll watch your videos about the cabin in the Alps in winter later this week as well!
To be brutally honest, this was (imo) your best video yet. Not saying anything else you’ve made is anything other than great… but this was amazing. It had everything. I put it on while I made dinner for the family, ended up burning the chicken haha. Thanks so much for this one Alex, it looked truly stunning! 🙌🏻

What a pleasure it was to see this beautiful place and your journey. Thank you.
What you said about living in the present. Many people don’t know how to do this because we live in such a modern, technology centered world. I want so badly to live off grid and start a homestead. I know it will help me slow down and enjoy the moments as they pass. I will get there soon! Great content 🙌
Moved from the UK to Czech republic earlier this year, decided to climb Mount Triglav and spend the week in Slovenia recently. By far the most beautiful country I've ever been to, spectacular scenery! Well done man 🙂
Sounds great!
the view over the mountains are breathtaking so wonderful and life refreshing. i love nature very much!
This looks like a dream. I love the tranquility of everything. I would totally live somewhere like this!
I felt I'd beenon the mountain for a week too... what a wonderful experience you've left here for everyone on yt.
So incredibly inspiring!! I’d absolutely love to go there for a month & paint as many plein air landscapes as I can. This is now on my bucket list! 👍🏻🫶🏻

"live in the present. Take it a bit easier and slow down and live more in the present." Hits me sooo hard 🥺 thinking about the future is actually draining.
Thank you for sharing your journey and thoughts. Your feast was marvelous. I also find preparation of the meal in the outdoors is satisfying - and special, grounding me in nature and creation.

Alex, what an incredibly special place! I was blown away by the variety of mushrooms! I really enjoyed this, thank you!
Words can't even express how much I enjoyed this! :)
one of my fondest memories was going mushroom hunting with a botanist friend in the pacific northwest. We got chanterelles which I had never had before and it was like going on a grown-up easter egg hunt. so much fun and then afterwards we made vegetarian stroganoff and the chanterelles had such a meaty texture. Yummy with white wine. Made me so happy to be able to relive the magic with you Alex.
This sounds amazing! Mushroom foraging is one of the best things ever!
Yup that is Slovenia for you. Its simply the most beautiful, compact country in the world 👌🙂

1:10 "one of the most beautiful places" so beautiful in fact, it brought tears to my eyes just by watching for a minute. I need this for my life!
If heaven had a name, this would be at least somewhat close to it. Hi Alex, I honestly waited for almost a week to watch this video simply just to have time for myself to take it all in. I would never think I found myself being So interested in beekeeping, mushroom foraging etc. And here I am.. I love every single video of yours. You are a true gem and a hope for me (And I believe for many others out there). I personally love Slovenia, been there three times already and somehow this just touched my soul pretty deep. I am amazed by what you do. Keep going! Wish you safe travels 😊😊

I was in this area this summer and hiked up some mountains around that lake. Slovenia is such a beautiful country!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful trip with us. Really enjoyed the video and the lake is so beautiful with all those mountains beside it.
If you are finding small mushrooms in well-picked areas it’s likely the other foragers left them to allow them to fully fruit and help replenish the mushroom populations
I love how happy you are there almost like you could actually live there 😊

I started watching these videos a few months back thinking you were just having a laugh taking the back seats out of your polo and trying to sleep in it (or rather getting a garage to do it for you). But as I have watched more I have come to realise your genius. You don’t take life too seriously but you have set yourself a goal and are living your dream and your life how you want to.
