FORMER LONDON TRANSPORT STANDARD STOCK TRAINS IN ISLE OF WIGHT IN 1982

- Running between Ryde and Shanklin we see former London Transport Standard Stock Underground trains in 1982. These were later replaced by 1938 stock trains also from the Underground and more recently by former D stock Underground trains from the District Line.
At this time the ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde was still operated by British Rail.
This stock was replaced a few years later with tube stock which was a mere 50 years old, and didn't get new stock until 2020/21!
Looks great in BR's best ever livery
I remember semaphore signals on the District Line. Short stubby arms rather than the full size BR ones. Not that long ago in the 1960s.
I remember riding in standard stock on the IOW
Awful soundtrack. I muted it to make it reasonable to watch.
