    Nice work man! Thanks for the video. I’m looking at a 2012 model today and will definitely do this upgrade!

    Thank you so much Mathew for this video, I would not have been able otherwise to make work a seat upgrade for my Tandem Island. Great stuff man!

      Great!!! I'm very glad to hear that you got something out of the video. Hope the new seats work out good. Anything short of a paving stone would be better than the pad seats that came with my TI.

    Hi Mathew just subscribed after watching your seat mod .. I have a Hobie revolution 13 and like me it’s an old fart way before the vantage seat upgrade but your video has given me food for thought as I have a Hobie sail kit and am now thinking I could do my own seat mod and also make some more substantial sidekicks than the little blow up guys probably out of foam filled pvc piping, just for extra stability .. any thoughts would be early appreciated 😊cheers Gary from Australia

    Looks comfy but you can't open the hatch

      That's true. After all day fishing, especially offshore, my comfort comes first over opening a hatch. I rarely keep anything down there, except for the bow, because is slides around and I can't reach it.

    Thanks for the video. I've got two AI's on a 5x10 utility trailer. They are configured such that I have to haul the AMAs up on a tree, meaning I have to unload each kayak onto the ground, and put the AKAs and AMAs on. How do you like using the Trailex with the AMAs installed? How often do you back the trailer into the water at a launch ramp to launch the TI vs lifting it off to launch it? How fast can you travel with the Trailex.

      Whoa Whoa, lift? Oh heck no. LOL. I back that bad boy down the ramp every time I go. Even at the beach I'll back the trailer down to the edge of the surf, then slide that TI off the back of the trailer. There is a small amount of lifting when at the beach. Once back from fishing we will lift the bow up on the trailer then push. I run down the road at 70 mph with no problem from Norman, Oklahoma to Corpus Christie, Texas about twice a year and down to Ocean Springs, Mississippi once a year. Before a long trip I ALWAYS grease up the hubs and check the tire pressure. I've even stacked another full sized kayak on the Hobie TI to go down the the Mississippi coastline.

    Did you ever happen to put straps on the side to mount to the cleats for the last chair? I got one very similar to your style the Springfield fish pro 100 they fit perfect with the PVC legs just wondering how to strap it down or if you even needed too.

    My concern with that 2nd seat upgrade is can u right your yak back up if it flips upside down
    Food for thought. Have u tested that. Be safe

      The seat up grade is no issue at all. IF the massive Hobie TI capsizes the seats will simply fall out, like any gear that I don't have tethered. It would be very difficult to capsize a Hobie TI, no impossible, but very difficult. I had it in conditions that would scare many to the point of never getting in a kayak again. Righting the kayak would be difficult simply due to it size and outriggers even when they are folded in. Just curious, have you taken a Hobie TI out?

    have you thought about drilling a hole on the front and back of the pipe so the water can drain out as it fills up in the area as well as the rubber to thats in the hole?

    • @mathewdavis-adventuresandd6643
      @mathewdavis-adventuresandd6643  3 роки тому

      I haven't. But I may give the PVC a drain hole. the rubber isn't a tight fit so it drains the water without issue. Thanks.

    Are you using 1" diameter PVC pipe?

    • @mathewdavis-adventuresandd6643
      @mathewdavis-adventuresandd6643  3 роки тому

      I believe that is 1" inch. But, use whatever size you feel will work for you. Just remember, keeping the center of gravity as low as possible is always a good thing. Especially if you're a big ol boy. Lol
