Enjoy the radio. Learn how to use. Read manual. Practice plugging in frequencies manually.

I saw how you adjusted the Band to wide but it seems after you make that adjustment it defaults back to narrow after a few seconds. How do you make it stay on wide?

You have to push in the channel knob to confirm.

@@charlesarnold7593 Give it a try again the menu likes to kick you out pretty quickly if you don’t push the red button that you need to push. I find that with a lot of radios. I hope it works out for you.

@@mikecricket113 That doesn't work. It will still automatically default back to narrow. It does this on purpose to prevent you from bleeding into unauthorized frequencies at the edges of the band you are operating in. You can reprogram it with a computer, but you need to know what you are doing if your going to operate in that mode. If you are operating is an area with traffic on nearby frequencies, your going to bleed all over them. Dont be a lid.

Can this radio be plugged into the Vehicle Cigarette Lighter Outlet?

It's a good radio, but I'm just not that huge of a fan of having all your settings being menu based. It's okay for base use, but it's tough to do in the mobile.

    Just a side note.
The FCC has never gone after an individual for simple talking to friends without a license.
They list 10 years of public records with not one single incident.
    Talk away my friend.

Maybe true as long as you’re not interfering with local government and or organizations, hospitals, airports and so on. Knowing where you are aloud to transmit is the key. And having that license especially on the ham band allocations would be educational. To each their own I guess

Yeah most of these channels are out of our reach and digital encryption, so you would have to go out of your way to interfere with anything official.
Your not going to accidentally disrupt a TV station by being to close on the wrong channel.

I didn’t say anything about tv.
But local EMS, trains, weather channels, etc are in the VHF spectrum. Some businesses, busing, hospital staff are in UHF. My suggestion is check www.radioreference.com/ in your local area to make sure where you shouldn’t transmit. You don’t sound like a LID. But some folks just don’t know. And think this is a good “walkie talkie “ or mobile radio. Education is paramount.

I'm still fairly green in this hobby, so green I had to look up what a "lid" was hahahaha.
You are right about those channels, I was only using the TV station as an example of what we can't accidentally interfere with.
Personal I make sure any of my local official channels are blocked 🚫 from transmitting.
Don't most lower end radios already have these channels locked.

    Hi,
I have a question in the anytone at-778uv. There is no audio during transmission. Just dead key carrier. Basically running transmitting (dead key only) and receiving perfect. I tried it on different channels lower and upper and same thing. Is there a mic gain or a mic mute for this radio? I read the whole manual and there is nothing was mentioned. Any takes and thank you.

Rudolf, Okay let see then. Not really sure. But please long press your Function button for me. then turn the big dial to the right to channel menu. push in big nob to access this menu list. turn the dial/ big knob to the right for menu 13 (TX) it should say (ON) If it is off then the radio will not transmit. Other than that. Make sure your microphone is plugged in correctly. Make sure your antenna is connected tight and for the proper band you wish to work. VHF/UHF. Maybe see in Function menu number 18 that your VOX is turned off. that may be another issue. If you are trying to access a repeater . Make sure your offsets, shift and Pl's are set properly.
It's hard for me to diagnose your issue , not being there and seeing what you see. If you are still having issues after checking what I have mentioned above. I suggest you contacting the manufacture via email and maybe they can help you. Good luck.

I notice the audio is not as strong as other radios. the mic seems weak. Other than that and just like what you said. its a great radio for the level. Thank you so much for the follow-up. And very nice video! Subscribed👍

@@rudolfogrease7895 sounds like you didn’t switch your transmission to wide band. This too is in the function menu. Whenever you transmit make sure it’s In wide band on fm. This will boost your audio. Also get right on that microphone 🎙️ hole. Trust me don’t bother with the Four inch away. Speak above a natural volume. Be enthusiastic not monotone when speaking.
Try this and listen to yourself on an HT in simplex and report back to me. Please. 73 for now. It’s bedtime.
