I have to agree as well! Usually, I'm more into the alpha type characters, but in both the army of thieves and the army of the dead, he is definitely my favorite character. I love his wit and overall intelligence. Plus, he just seems like a good guy.
Thought that the idea of closing the safe in the movie represented the idea of Schrödinger’s cat. The person in the safe is both alive and dead in a way. Just my thoughts lol.

When Batista's character asked about the vault, on Army of the Dead. They went straight to Dieter. But on Army of Thieves, they went to the Old Man first, before they went to Dieter and Dieter mentions "so you asked the old man about something, and then he led you to me"

so if the “cycle begins anew” once the Götterdämmerung is opened… it would be really cool if Army of Thieves isn’t just a prequel but the start of another cycle!! One where Dieter finally remembers the previous cycle and saves them all hahaha

I could careless if Zack Snyder is going to direct the sequel. Army of the Dead felt “meh” at best. Army of Thieves was sooooooo much better, and was directed by Matthias Schweighöfer (aka Dieter). Someone pull away Zack Snyder from this project and let Matthias Schweighöfer take the reins.

I'm almost sure that he's going to return in the next movie. All the characters that died in Army of the death we saw their deaths, but we didn't see Dieter's death. If I don't see it, I don't believe it

It's a twist guys with the main character was lost but I know they comeback on next sequel.

No way Zack Snyder is trash. Matthias Schweighöfer is what brought everything to life. He directed this pre-equal and flushed out a much more interesting world. The overall look and feel was much more detailed and nuanced. Get Zack Snyder away from this project, his vision was crude and more Hollywood blockbuster bs at best.

All I know is that I sincerely hope Dieter comes back, because Matthias Schweighöffer is just an absolute delight (especially as this character).
If he’s coming back, I think they will have the omega-man be the one trying to kill him, so the hand inside the safe which grabs him, could be foreshadowing the sequel !

tbh, i am not fans of army of the dead when its first came out, always feel likes something is missing in that movie and too many characters died, but after watch army of thieves, and watched this video, it really opened my mind, and i can't wait for the next sequel..

What if the zombie at 8:45 is actually Vanderohe because there’s only one zombie and Vanderohe was the only one in both movies to be locked up behind a vault. Furthermore, Vanderohe was also bitten as well which makes sense towards his zombification in the vision/dream.
I think everything is linked with hans wagner. When he wakes up in the van he sees wagner as a zombie. I think its somehow connected with Wagner shutting himself inside his last vault. I dont know but i am really excited to find out.

@@hrestibar2982 well it seems unlikely since the vault that wagner had locked himself in is said to have been dumped in the ocean. Dieter randomly saw wagner as a zombie but he died years before the apocalypse. I think the zombies and wagner have some connection. Since his wife and son died maybe he tried something to bring them back or something and they came back as zombies so he locked himself with them in the vault i think. These are just speculation but goddamn it sound cool 😅😅😅.i am just really excited for the next iterations.

In the loop Dieter always locks himself in the safe to hide from the zombies and that means he abandoned his friends, I believe after hearing those words from Korina he decided to save Vanderohe knowing the cycle would repeat.

Also when you highlighted about the bride on the news, there was the same lady that was yelling at him in the bank which again could've been a glimpse into one of the alternative timelines
The scene of the team successfully getting onto the chopper with all the cash as one of the previous loops is supported with your theory of 4. There are only two sets of duplicate bodies, so add the chopper group, and the main movie group and that's all 4 of them.
So Dieter is basically the Flash of Snyderverse of Netflix...😳
All these time travel theories are deeply intriguing. I love all the clues put in both movies that suggest time travel and the looping of time is actually happpening.
If it is in the future revealed that the looping of time has occurred in anyway, then both of these movies would be placed on my short list of the greatest zombie movies of all times
Probably has more Norse and Greek Mythology influence as well. Since the safes was Norse inspired and the alpha Zombie is named after Zeus.
This is why i love Snyder's work. In every film he makes he never just tells 1 story. He always adds little hints and clues to show a larger story behind the scenes. Loved both AoT and AoTD.
I thought you were talking about aot the anime in which case has the same tone where a million foreshadowings and clues are placed throughout the show but you only realize them if you're analysing like this person is.
There's definitely some kind of futuristic mystery going on. Like take the blue eye robo zombies. Also Zeus' blue blood was suspect.

The Timeloop theory makes sense when you consider that the name of Wagners compositions is collective known as the Ring.
I got a wild theory. What if the 4th vault is still hidden somewhere in the ocean and the vault they actually open is a replica. Which means that dieter still needs to open the original vault hidden on the bottom of the ocean floor somewhere. Which either resets the time loop or breaks it.
That could be why in the beginning of the army of the dead when Dieter said if he should have a bigger weapon, Vanderohe said "If you had one, you already be dead". It could be referring to a past timeline when Dieter tried to use a big weponn and ended up dying? Thoughts?
Zach is a Nolan student who clearly hasn't mastered Nolan's style before adding his own style to it.. the whole Army of the dead was supposed to be confusing like a Nolan movie but it wasn't he should have gone all in without worrying be about a sequel

in his previous interviews (at the time of MOS and BVS), Nolan said that people were not just ready for his movies and his movies are way above their league.

I'm super excited for the part 3 of this great movie. I think the part 3 would be the getting together part of Ludwig and Gwendoline and much more exciting adventures will happen.
Exactly like the New Kingsman movie its a prequel and there will be a Kingsman 3 so you can’t really call Thieves Part 2. Can be confusing at times I believe they could make an actual sequel to Army of Thieves but no leave it alone. Make Planet of the Dead and as ppl have been saying make some sort of another prequel to Army of the Dead where we see how Zeus got into the vault before he infected Vegas or Nevada and how he was infected to become the Alpha. If you think about it like what came first the chicken or the egg was Alpha the first or was there was regular zombie or zombies before him and somehow the government perfected the zombies making him the first Alpha (or was he even the first Alpha). All would be amazing to explore I’d like a government movie on how it all came to be a Zeus prequel and have it end with him meeting his Queen or choosing who his Queen is going to be (for his zombie baby)
Wagners safes are some sort of time machine ,he tried to travel back in time to save his wife and child,and the military found his safe and tried to use it and they went somewhere else and brought an infected soldier back
I saw some people say that the army of the dead is a 4 timeline. When I watch The Thieves twice, I notice that Sebastian's room had the number 3 and in the second bank you also can see the number 3 again when Gwen open the door for him. Army of thieves became before Army of the Dead (Number 4), so... I suppose that Army of the Thieves it's the number 3 and remains another two numbers before the thieves
I found army of theives to be much more enjoyable than dead.
I thought maybe the actor just thought his back story was so cool that it warranted a prequel, but you are making a lot of sense here.

Honestly, I don't have enough faith in Synder & Co. to have thought up something this ingenious. Although this video does get me to thinking why there was a need to make a prequel with Sebastian/Ludwig in the first place. If Ludwig somehow did survive Army of the Dead and ends up meeting with Gwendoline again, there would have to be a very good reason to keep him alive. I feel we are going to be very disappointed when Planet of the Dead comes out and there is no mention of either.

And it makes me really confused because Dieter said in Thieves that he will find and open Gotterdammerung together with Gwendoline but in Dead, he just went like that. Thieves was made after Dead too so it's not something that just missed.

@@t37joiceandrean38 Snyder made it a point to say “if we do not see a character die then we can bring them back”. The main zombie could’ve took him hostage like he did some of the other characters. Of course that’s just one scenario of many possible.

he says “Siegfried dies and brunnhilde throw herself on his grave” I believe Zack Synder is telling us Ludwig is in fact dead and tell us Gwens faith in the “Planet of the dead”

It really seems that if you just get out of Snyder's way and let him do what he wants with his movies, he DOES have a plan. Wish DC/Warner Bros. had trusted him to make some of his Snyder cut ideas for Justice League in the original movie. Maybe then they would still have their cast and not alienated the cyborg actor.

8:00 Matthias Schweighöfer said It's a direct refrence to Snyder's Dawn of the Dead Movie the crew really tried to get the same outfit for the zombie.
I thought the time loop was them breaking fourth wall and admitting once the movies over their lives are over til we re-watch the movie, making the loop of fighting, dying.... All over again. Til the movie ends. And we re-watch it later on, starting the loop again.
He was my favorite character, glad he got a prequel! Hope to see him survive in the next movie!

I saw the film when it came out and already knew the time loop theory, but still haven't seen Army of thieves so will watch it for sure!
I think it would be great if Dieter was allowed to survive in Army of the Dead because Dieter is Zeus.
Sure there is an obvious difference in their build and one of the theories is that Vanderohe is Zeus, but maybe Dieter gets infected, ends up being experimented on by the army or aliens (if they are a genuine part of the story) then eventually evolves into the muscular Zeus.
Sorry this is probably in no way an original idea, but it would be another nice loop for a version of Dieter to be stuck in.

Years ago I watched a huge PBS documentary on Wagner's Ring Cycle.... I really feel like "Army of Thieves" was a shade richer for me, but like they say: "It's not over till the Fat Lady sings".
Well, I have never seen the army of dead. My girlfriend introduced me into the army of thieves, and wow, it was a great decision. Now I feel like I need moreee!
As a German I have absolutely no idea what she's talking about when explaining the meaning of the names Ludwig and Dieter
it is true though
the hotel must be stuck in a singularity in order for the previous group to be visible to the second group. other wise if it was an actual loop no group would be visible to the other, except in som dejavous capacity.
Dieter is invincible, right? His name also means the people's warrior, right? Maybe, Deiter is immune to becoming a Zombie. So the head Alpha bit him and it had no effect.
Counting to 4 like in music is a Loop plus the counting is timing...
Or maybe the time loop theory in AoTD has to also do with sequences of the film like how a combination dial works.

Army of the dead was snoozefest at first (I'd literally turn it on as I'm going to sleep). One day I decided to actually give it a watch, and each time after that I got deeper and deeper meanings from it. Army of Thieves was the move that really got me into the franchise though.
In Army Of Thieves the protagonist dreams with a zombie apocalypse (almost like a vision of him about to die while trying to open the safe).
This could be him seeing his other self from the previous loop.
Similar to Dr. Strange dreaming about his other selfs in other dimensions.

None of the rich characters, yes even Brad...who has decided, he's "no longer the hero"...NONE of them dies!
Even Rolf, the driver, has decided he wants to change sides...leaving all of them could be the core of the NEW CRÜE, and Brad to be one of the antagonists.
How do they get out? It's now a PLANET OF THE DEAD, and we're dealing with a much more civilized Europe, where they would release prisoners, instead of letting them starve.
Perhaps Delecrox enlists Brad to help take down our heroes?
