    Just put a mounted tv in my office and it's going to feature skinner underwater camera videos on loop.

    John, love your videos. I am a free diver and spearfisherman on the east end of long island. Its nice for everyone to see and appreciate fish behavior underwater. Fish are not stupid an curiosity is a sign of intelligence. I wouldn’t say they are very smart either but they all have personality. Blackfish just seem to have more curiosity and personality than any other fish i have observed in the north east. They are very fun to hunt and also just fun to swim with and observe. Rod and reel guys would be very surprised at some of the stuff going on down there. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for sharing this video, it seems something about the camera that attracted every single life down there. Nosy black fish, no wonder why when I shake my bait sometimes I get instant life.

    John-Amazing video, thanks for posting! Will certainly change the way I fish for blackfish in the future. Makes we wonder if a blackfish jig with a teaser hook rig (like your fluke jigging rig-but with the teaser hook a little closer to the jig) would work for blackfish? You would get two baits and the blackfish certainly seem interested in offerings a bit above the bottom.....

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  6 років тому +1

      Another hook would definitely work, but the extra drag would require more weight and become a snag hazard.

      Being so close and downcurrent of the amazing angler #4, the visibility by your jig was probably 2 inches. Best part of the trip was watching the leading edge of that wreck materialize on the fishfinder. Thanks for a great day and season!

      John Skinner Fishing I'm with angler #4 right now driving from Jersey tournament. We both agree that we learned so much from you this year. Thank you again and we can't wait for next year. And Halk is annoyed at me because I didn't refer to him as " illustrious" angler #4...lol.

    Really enjoy this educational video. Do you think the fish could sense the electrical frequency given off by the camera? Or is that signal too weak you think?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  6 років тому +1

      I doubt anything detectable is given off by the camera. It just records to an internal microSD card.

    About camera atraction...
    Is there any light at the camera?
    Led? Infrared?
    Any kind of sound may be produced while recording?
    I've checked wolf camera website, but doesn't give too much details.
    What you think john?
    Have you tried dropping any unanimated object close to the camera and notice the same atraction?
    Thank you a LOT ( a BIG lot) for all your investigative videos.
    Regards.
    Fred.

      Nothing. There's a slight red blinking light inside the camera that you can barely see, but I had it covered with a couple of layers of electrical tape.

    Great video John. Loved the video clarity without the bait, as well as the information you provided. Love that you pointed out the jig in the fish's mouth because that would have gone right by me. BTW, that fourth angler is a real piece of work -- putting that in nice terms -- as I am sure will be recognized when the above water line is posted.

    Outstanding video John, thank you! I'll be changing my tactics on my Taug trip in the morning. Would you say infrequent bumps on the bottom as opposed to the rapid vertical fluke jigging technique?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing

    Do you think a Flounder Pounder would help or maybe it would stir up too much silt. A good video.

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  6 років тому

      I think it would attract 4 billion bergals because it would free up tiny bits of food too small for quality blackfish but big enough for the bergals.

  • @chriscarl4988
    @chriscarl4988 6 років тому

    Just wondering ,,if when they(the black fish)come over and check out the camera, are they wanting to see if it (camera) moves ? It (the camera) don't do anything,, most crabs or small crustaceans would react.

  • @Redcrown48
    @Redcrown48 6 років тому

    I’m here at Jones inlet and bergals and flounder are pretty much nonexistent.

  • @BigLonLife
    @BigLonLife 3 роки тому

    It's a bit of both sides. Saying "just leave it on the bottom and don't move it" is both correct and very wrong. Same for suggesting to give it lots of action. When it reaches the bottom, give it a couple thumps. Make sure they see it. THEN don't move it. Give it a good thirty seconds, that's usually how long my patience lasts. I keep my line mildly slack using braid and keeping a finger on the line. Can feel the movements but they don't feel you.
    Give it a few thumps every thirty seconds. Other than that, as you saw, too much action stirs up a hell of a lot of dirt. Get their attention and then chill out. Never set the hook on the first strike unless they hit it like a brick.

      The very first fish looks like it has a white chin, and possibly the one at 3:26. But it is weird how many females there are, I've caught a bunch of big chinners in eastern ct this year. Maybe the females are more curious.
