Marine Gen-set Heat Exchanger Maintenance

In my Diesel course I assign students to perorm inspection and cleaning of heat exchangers, here are two that have not been cleaned out for many years due to their location or the sound guard that usually encases the engine to quiet it down.

Is that something that should be done annually?

You don't need to remove the end caps unless you have a water pump impeller fail. But yes, changing anodes is an annual maintenance item

@@tedsmarinerepair8956 on older alpha gen one, would it be appropriate to add a raw water pump?

@@jrisinlove that is a hard rubber impellor and should be done every year or 2 at the max.
