I read an article on some of the techniques used for this work over on Post Perspective. It's always neat to get the context of just how detailed everything is and what is kept in consideration. The first Doctor Strange blew my mind in the same fashion the first Transformers did. Seemingly impossible CG that also looks amazing. New techniques are popping up over time and you all stay on top of it or in front of it all! It is always incredibly fascinating to read/hear about how you all achieved these shots. Bravo!
Incredible work. Thank you for all you've done with the VFX in the MCU.
Awesome and unless you use VFX yourself, I don't think people realise how much goes into these breakdown/BTS videos. Its a LOT of work.
i'd say many years, so much you need to know omg to be a professional like them
Yeah exactly!!
Right I use cgi in my videos and it’s no where even close to the detail they put into marvel or dc films
Amazing incredible work of Art. Let's give credit to the real VFX workers behind all that. They put their time and experiences on these projects and they are not recognized. The MCU would be nothing without them.
I applaud any visual effects artist that can trick my brain into thinking something's practical.
Frfr this is dope asf
I'm not sure what amazed me the most, the final CG's or the way your presented the CG here. Great work 🤣
Its shocking to see that what you thought was real was really CGI. Amazing job ILM.
Amazing! Considering the movie is 90% cgi, well done!
It’s not actually, watch the making of, they built the New York streets, Kamar Taj, the Sanctum etc.
@@REaDComicsau you mean the 10%? Lol
@@georgewashington7982 ignorance
@@REaDComicsau how exactly if thats not even 40% of the locations and those you listed were only half non cgi...
@@Alysha8704 ignorant sook. The movie was not “90% CGI” and that’s a fact.
Guys, i JUST realised why the third eye cg didn't work for people. Because it looks so damn good in the cg model. Just extend the cg model to his eybrows a little. That's the part that's missing. Plus it'd work better if they put some tape on his forehead for shooting so it'll feel like something is there in his head.
Well, the lack of muscular movements is also significant here. In real life, you have to move orbicularis oculi muscle to open and close the eyelid and the work of this muscle changes the skin tension. Here the eye just doesn't exist at all, it just can't open and close like this, without causing any effect to the rest of forehead and eyebrows section. The eyes and their movement are really hard to fake - gee remember these awful CG Blade eyes in Blade: Trinity. So the tape point is really good. It could help a lot - at least, Benedict's face would have to react to something on it.
It looks terrible
@@lorddj9910 ayin?
Big round of applause to the whole team of artists!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
We need more behind the magic of Doctor strange in the multiverse of madness!
You're true movie magicians, keep'em comin'!!
incredible work! they just keep getting better
saw this in 3d and man it was the best experience ever
amazing work and awesome unique breakdown, its the first time i see it shown this way and its soo much better and easier to understand what you do💜
Half the vfx budget went into the vfx breakdown itself i see
Incredilbe! that spin moment between Wanda and CM is one of my favorite moment, looks amazing. Nice to know you guys worked on that.
who or what’s CM?
@@definitelynotriley Captain Marvel
My favorite scene in the movie. I love how quick she is on her feet when fighting two people. And how her powers protected her. Loved when she used the floor as a barrier. That was just so smooth and fun looking. This was a good power fight scene. Plus she looks scary good!!
Beautiful
Truly unbelievable, incredible and amazing works as always! And very unique VFX Breakdown
Amazing and well done ilm. Love your work.
I'm so curious about the 3d models of the actors, it really looks amazing!!
And so detailed
This got better than the movie itself:)
Amazing!!
ILM is always way ahead of every other studio in quality and tech. Hats off. Big Fan of ILM. 🤩
I love the movie and
visual effects are brilliant and amazing 😍❤️
Awesome!
The visual effects of this movie didn't get enough appreciation, great job guys!!
Standing ovation
Whatever happened to the good old days of going to different universes and just filming on location? Would have been way easier.
Ikr 🙄
The scenes of the fight against Gargantos were shot on a real set. They built some streets and buildings of New York entirely, so it's like they shot on a real location
It’s called covid 19
"Let's go into another universe to film do doctor strange 2"
Not this whole "the old way is always better" snobbish attitude. There are only so many forests and deserts you can film in, until they all look bland and the same, in different movies. It takes a shit ton of skill to do this.
the part where they filmed wanda vs captain marvel seems really really fun
This movie should have ben nomimated for an oscar, allong visuals also elizabeth olsen and best costumes, score.
the amount of roto work required for this is not a joke, no wonder the artists feel stressed, phenomenal work from ilm
AWESOME!!!
That feeling, when breakdown is better than movie! Congratulations ILM!
literally true
@@AceLeach Literally false. The movie was also great.
lol what
@@theilluminatibenefactor right.
huh u just cant afford the tickets
WOW, this is truly epic :)
This was amazing.
wonderful work as ever
The amount of work just for the CGI set replacement is insane, People tend to see only the explosion or the digital stunt double, but most of the set look like there was build in studio and shot for real, unless you see à digital puppet your not able to see the difference with the real thing, especialy with New render engine like Clarisse or Arnold.
Chills.
Amazing
It's so beautiful 😍
Wow. I didn't know if ilm was the visual effects behind multiverse of madness, that's why cg overall looks great 👍
#Nice +1👍
This looks really cool. Im curious how they made the scene where doctor strange and America Chavez travel through the multiverse.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️
You can keep the bloopers. Feed me these.
Bravo
interesting!in what application did they create all these effects?
is there a one for the mister fantastic and black bolt cgi suit breakdown?
However the third eye of strange looks unrealistic. I'm guessing its probably a budget issue. Cause Marvel now goes for quantity over quality.
Cause looking back at the works of ILM for other films vfx is just magnificent!
Could you please release the song in the background. It’s amazing! Is it online?
Do they have any of these for how they create the sounds and sound layering? The visuals aint nothing without sound 🎼
Bravo à vous tous !!
J'ai vu la série documentaire sur toute votre histoire en commençant par Georges Lucas, et je suis époustouflé ! Bravo et continuez ainsi meme si les méthodes d'avant (les marionnettes...) étaient vraiment bien
😳😳😳😳👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥
❤️
That third eye tho
Was anyone or anything in this film real? This is incredible!
This is why ILM is the best in the biz ❤🤟😎 and yet some internet trolls say VFX in MCU is bad now , " *scoff* "yeah right 🤣
1:39 but this scene wasn't there in MoM
1:35 its kinda creepy how you did this
at this point they dont even need actors they're just making everything in 3d
Fashion!
Marvel budget is unstoppable
What name of soundtrack music ?
Wanda’s cgi model is somehow terrifying
1:23 You serious Marvel Studios? lol
It was real for me
Great music. Can ya link me?
Here it is:
In Case Of Emergency by : Mark Petrie
ua-cam.com/video/szUhWuXlhsY/v-deo.html
Did you find it?
Is cgi same with animation?
That third eye was the worst😢
would you do better?
First thing you do after watching this video is to open unreal engine 5 and start a new scene....
Marvels 1st 3 phase movies have the better vfx then the phase 4
Shang CHi, Eternals, Loki all had great cgi wym
please tutorial😂
Hi
Why does the third eye look better here than the movie
and people think they are going to get this level of work from UE...i'm like na..you have to remember these people have a combined experience level of over 100 years. just keep at it and make stuff...
that earth is bascily Singapore.....
When people say the MCU has bad CGI they always cherry pick rare examples while most of the time marvel CGI is beautiful
People shit on the CGI of the third eye but I don't think it's that bad. Really, no matter how you do it, it would always look strange.
i didn’t even realize most of this was cgi 😭
Seriously?
@@theilluminatibenefactor i realize how dumb his sounds 😭 i mean like certain stuff i didn’t realize was cgi but i knew a lot of it obviously was lmao
Why do they even hire actors anymore, they just end up getting replaced by digital doubles :D awesome work!
hmm i dont understand the amount of effort on third eye of dr strange is like fastened to finish the deadline
can someone explain 1:38 it isnt in the movie
Yes
but what software dominate cgi most
😮 Oh, you are using a mix of deepfake and Cgi to recreate the expressions !
It's like with Luke in The Mandalorian
I'm 23 year old can i become a vfx supervisor eventually by starting as a vfx artist.?
Yes, After about 12 to 15 years of working experience in industry you can become a vfx supervisor
Imagine doing all of this and not paid enough...
For real, these vfx artists are stressed, overworked AND underpaid
Detalhes
It's looks like Wanda creating her hex
Do ILM artists also complain about being overworked?
Because Disney owns them
And they are Overstaffed
And this is the second act of the film.
1:35 so many passes and still people keep on hating on the CG eye
VFX artist here. Because it looks very, very bad. The lighting and contours simply don't look natural for how an eye sits on the face.
Please do justice to the little mermaid
I NOW EFFECT VFX AND ANIMAATION IS NAME SOFWARE HOULDINI AND NUKE AND MAYA
It's pretty cool that consumers and pros both got their hands on deepfakes at the same time. Usually ILM gets and makes stuff way before us plebs.
Doesn't ILM also handle the VFX work for Mandalorian? I wonder how common the usage of deepfake technology was in the professional VFX world prior to the Mandalorian/Luke Skywalker deepfake situation. Luke's first appearance was almost completely motion capture & CG face replacement and then some pleb made better versions of all the Luke scenes using deepfake technology. It was so much better that he ended up consulting on the show & helped improve Luke's appearance exponentially in the following season. You can see in the 3 facial models of Hayley Atwell from this video (1:52) that the deepfakes are clearly superior to the CG face model. The success of combining the two techniques has allowed the process of VFX face replacement to take a huge leap forward in a very short period of time, and it's only going to continue to improve over time.
@@jeffblue19onTwitter The problem with that is time, it's so easy for artist online to take a finished product that might've been finalized days before sending off and saying that they made a better face with deepfake, but all they did was use a photo real actor cg to train the deepfake, it's like deepfaking tom cruise with tom cruise, it will obviously look amazing, so I believe that what they are doing now is not spending all the time on the cg, having it 70% of the way done and using DF to push that extra 30%
Random People: fase 4 cgi is trash
Fase 4 cgi:
1:23 WTF was that for?
Most likely because the actress is still a minor and has a fixed amount of hours she's allowed to work. So they used a stand-in. Or she was busy filming something else. Covid restrictions played a huge part in this shoot as well.
Um
Covid+minor+dealines+ prolly shooting another scene.
So a stand in comes in.
I don’t think this shot was in the movie… 3:11
It was.
@@ironmanjakarta8601 the beginning of the shot I ment
@@tanktanna3836 Yeah that might be ILM trying to show how they did it.
1:23 Would've been cheaper to pay the actress than to pay for CGI. Although this was probably done because of child labour laws.
Do you get that how much the eyes get strained because of the fast movement of frames.. ?Coz our eyes can only grasp certain frames of visuals per second and get it sunk in.. The others are all stressful transitions.. So enable your CG such that the longevity of your viewers eyesight is ensured.....so you can make more movies..
