    vfx artists are so undervalued, not just by people outside of the film/tv industry but the actual industry themselves seeing as how overworked and underpaid they are 🤷🏾‍♀️ they have to time crunch all the time and the result is people saying using cgi is lazy. i do agree that cgi can be overused, particularly because studios like to exploit cgi artists, but i would never attack the actual artists or the craft of cgi. i just hope that they have better working conditions in the future

We say VFX artists are under appreciated because they are. If you’ve ever taken the time to look at credits after movies, there’s a part where they mention the artists and so many other people who rarely ever get credit. It all goes to the directors, (sometimes) writers, and actors unfortunately when it comes to superhero movies. They also get paid very little which is unfair.

    I am an advocate for more practical effects and against overused cgi, but I will forever hold vfx artists in high regard for doing their best to recreate the world and make it look as seamless as they possibly can. When you consider the amount of time the team had, and how much they had to do, you can be more understanding of the final product. I do have issues with No Way Home's use of cgi where there really shouldn't need to be at first (I'm looking at you, Green Goblin) but I'm never going to blame the vfx team for this. It's mainly a decision made during production, especially since marvel movies seem to be increasing in number of projects coming out relatively close to each other, hence not enough time to clean up the vfx shots.

    The fight of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and doc ock is a epic battle sequence that is the best mix of practical and cgi effects. As awesome the iron spider looks in the film, it’s even so dope that Tom Holland really did the epic stunts in the sequence in motion capture and even have him have a mechanical tentacle battle with doc ock.

    I keep thinking “Marvel is Jsut flexing at this point- I’m so jealous” but I realize, it’s WAY easier to use building and animation skills to create a longer set extension, because of Covid, and I’m actually really happy they did this, they are masters and don’t have to worry too much, because a lot of times it’s not noticeable, but it’s really good

I disagree with that and say it's more difficult. The actor has to use their imagination and react to things that aren't even there. Or do silly things like talk to a tennis ball lol.

    Kinda surprised that they didn't use the Volume for some of these shots. Disney owns it and I think it's at the same Atlanta Pinewood studios (or perhaps in the London studios) but it would have made certain shots easier for the crew and a faster post-production time

    • @markcoggins1405
      @markcoggins1405 2 роки тому +1

      The Volume hasn't yet been used in any Disney movie production. Since it uses a video game engine, Unreal Engine 4, movie producers with years in the industry aren't yet comfortable with using it for $200M+ budget movies, despite the Volume being cheaper and visually superior. They would rather do the tried-and-true way. Hopefully soon the volume can be greenlit for movie production.
