Elements of Television. I love reading everyone's comments and all the great bands they are reminded of. These guys capture all that was great about the 80's indy/college radio/club scene...
Ah, moonlight It's hard to believe it And it's harder to need it But so easily wanted Pretty machines Expensive magazines I've been tricked into buying quite a number of things Yeah, bullshit and dreams Urban ease, it means I was leaved taunted And you think you're a modern person You think that you can ignore Silent isolation, my emancipation In the same place you get yours Oh, whiskey sips are piling while my secrets escaped In the skyline of hell there are no fire escapes Punk songs, I thought that they were different And I thought that they could end it No, no it was a deception Well, the number of tears And the number of beers were dried out and accounted For a number of years But these days I fear that my window was just a reflection Still, you think that you're not a servant You think that you can avoid The stylish institution, worshiping illusions Things you thought you could destroy Oh, crowded loud and crimson was my view from the pit I was wild, I was weird, I was shackled to it
One time, it's so easy the fourth time But this side of the shoreline, we've already recovered Pretty machines Expensive routines Clouded and obstructed quite a number of things Believe me, it's harder to feel These days it's harder to suffer And you think you're a modern person Think you can watch something change And move on without you Side by side with doubt you Listen to the world exchange Oh, conversation starters over various meats In the skyline of hell where the tired retreat
I guess i have a new favorite band. the first i heard them, they scratched an itch left by silver jews. then i heard them as the natural heirs of television. after that i could hear the influence of shelley's sonic youth songs. this is new york rocknroll.
My favorite from the new album... just saw the Atlanta show and it was the best live show I've seen in a while. KUDOS guys to a great body of work so far!
Spotted CAN - Tago Mago reissue on the floor, Ultimate Painting LP at the front of the stack aaand maybe Light Up Gold is the record with its back to us?
Craig Sharp Tago Mago is a fantastic album. Shaun Ryder and the Happy Mondays; and probably the Roses. And probably every Madchester band. Ever. Might also agree. 😂
@@abadassskull My reply is 5 years late, but I was very disappointed to see no references in the top comments here. Glad you heard this strong influence too!
The saxophone kicking in is chefs kiss 🤌
Oh my god. What kind of a masterpiece I have found. It's fucking great, I love it!
Jeez. The lyrics to this song. I feel you, man.
Yeah, this band really reminds me of Parquet Courts.
Hurray for the Riff Raff crossed with Teena Marie, here
@@adamduncan9269 Perfect description, still I need more bands like them o' fuck
Oh farts, I love Parquet Courts. This does kinda sound like them.
Reminds me of Negative XP.
Nah, it's more like Parkay Quartz
What a fucking great song.
I agree
Something about that specific chord change is like magic to my ears.
I love bands that prove how important lyrics are!
Same
Groovy....this old man likes it

you guys are so bloody good
Such meaningful lyrics with a groove you can dance to. This is the future of music, and it was happening years ago.
Ah, moonlight
It's hard to believe it
And it's harder to need it

You think that you can ignore
Silent isolation, my emancipation

In the skyline of hell there are no fire escapes
Punk songs, I thought that they were different
And I thought that they could end it
No, no it was a deception
Well, the number of tears
And the number of beers were dried out and accounted
For a number of years
But these days I fear that my window was just a reflection
Still, you think that you're not a servant
You think that you can avoid
The stylish institution, worshiping illusions
Things you thought you could destroy
Oh, crowded loud and crimson was my view from the pit
I was wild, I was weird, I was shackled to it
thanks!

The simplistic two guitars playing is so good

I guess i have a new favorite band. the first i heard them, they scratched an itch left by silver jews. then i heard them as the natural heirs of television. after that i could hear the influence of shelley's sonic youth songs. this is new york rocknroll.
Low-key, best BOAT. Band of all time.
Fuckin Brilliant !!!! Parquet Courts are the Best..just saw then at the "Old market" in Brighton UK..... they were Awesome..Tight and Rockin
LOVE love ❤️ these guys! Skeggs on Pandora served me up some Parquet Courts and ever since been grooving!
Lovely song, great guitar leads, and I do enjoy the sax/kazoo combo too.

I can't get this song out of my head.
Heard this the other day on the radio (2SCR) in Sydney. Great stuff.
I've just heard of these guys, really liking them so far. Remind me a bit of Lou Reed
A fine addition to my three-day P.C. bender!

I get such david bowie "low" album vibes from this song- new career in a new town and speed of life. Just me?
+vodkalatke I got the same thing!
true!
The rhythm the guitar is playing is pretty similar to Heroes
Not at all considering they're both synth-led instrumentals, fuck off
@@hazuinf I think similar is a nice understatement :)
i want this played at my funeral
I heard Dust recently and thought I'd give them a try. Very impressed. Keep the good stuff coming PC!
Reminds me of the velvet underground great track

omg it's great!
Eye spy an Ultimate Painting vinyl on the floor at the beginning of the video, the left side of Austin

Some of the best lyrics I've read that really hit the core of western civilization.
Cool video

Lou Reed Lives!!! Great Song!
yes boys yes!!!
Remember The Skankaholix? Or The Five Pointers? Or playing Dreamworks? Project Rathole? Or house shows in Irving Texas?
+Tuesday Fitzgerald who doesn't? :)
Brian Eno Courts!
Iggy played it on the Confidential show.
Anyone know where in NY that subway shot is from at 3:48?
pretty sure its the M train once it gets into brooklyn
NEAT.
Velvet Underground Rock and Roll comes to mind
it reminds me of outdoor minor, but in the best kind of way
I am a fan of the overlapping Cinematography
Fuckin' awesome
♥
Can someone recommend other songs like this?
mobs deep - shook ones
This reminds me somewhat of CCR because of those guitars
The strokes wher'e you at ?
Tago Mago. Nice
An entire career of people walking around.
Why is everyone in the comments trying to brag about how many bands they can mention?
can i cry on his half mustache???
I'd listen to anyone who owns Tago Mago tbh
Was the dishwashing scene a foreshadowing of the Monastic Living cover?
probs
Sweet child of mine!!!!!!
"oh oh sweet child of Parquet Courtsssss"
It's like The Beatles Hey Jude mixed with The Bay City Rollers and a dash of Ace Freely and a sprinkle of Metallica.
@spinsterrecords got me here.
This is just the GnR "Sweet Child of Mine" riff
Was that a kazoo?
Jonathan Richman/ Velvets homage
Sounds a lot like Parkay Quarts

Good track, but I sure do miss the screechy guitars.
oh oh oh sweet child of mine
Sure, all been done before..but, better someone follows along the lines of great old music rather than Maroon 5 and that BS.Well done.
Modern Lovers someone ?
