Harvey Richardson: The Murder of Lorraine Jacob, 1970
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- The discovery of a young woman's body in a dark alley in Liverpool one rainswept morning in September 1970, led to one of the city's biggest manhunts. But in spite of the huge efforts of Liverpool CID, detectives were stumped. It began to look like the murder of Lorraine Jacob would be one of those cases which are condemned to remain unsolved mysteries - but, in the most surprising way, it was not.

Before even listening I'm giving Mark John McGuire 5 STARS for his new addition that has been on for only 19 minutes because he is always amazing and can be counted on! Thanks Mark!
Who-hoo! My sentiments exactly!
I actually yelled “oh BOY!” out loud, when I saw this had arrived.
Off to listen with the rest of the MJM Appreciation Society.. catch you on the flip side!
Correct
Thank you very much indeed for such generosity, Zufelt! :)
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder It is well deserved!
Very strange that Lorraine’s friend never came forward to report the incident with Harvey’s cameras. The case could have been resolved and the murderer punished. Or Richardson’s landlady who could surely have reported the girls visit. Sad that Lorraine was buried in an unmarked grave.
I love your voice, it perfectly matches your descriptions in the stories you share.
No slang, no expletives, just allowing the the English language to beautifully flow as you share true accounts. You sir are a treasure, thank you.
You are very kind to say so - thank you!
Your delivery and the timbre of your voice are a delight. I think you could talk on virtually any subject and it would be interesting. Thank you, Mark. 😀
Thank you very much, Susanne!
You just made my afternoon. Thank you John my notification just popped up on my iPad and went right to you. Have a great day.
Thank you - hope you enjoyed it!
Good evening, Mr Maguire...I was scanning the choices on UA-cam tonight... nothing much caught my interest... and... then, there you are!
Yes! A good story and a great presentation! Thank you. Much respect from New Hampshire USA!! 🎉
Thank you very much, Jeanette!
Another YT channel (bitesize audio) features original voice acting of public domain works and the creator also had his stuff yanked by YT. He fought it but came to the conclusion that his content was being evaluated by bots and computers and likely not human eyes. 😖 🤮
Your channel Mark is authentic, and even you comment section has a higher tone than any true crime message board I have seen! Most of us would gladly follow you to another platform if needed!
Thank you vey much - it is something of a mystery to me. I will explore other avenues, but fully intend to stick with youtube for as long as they will allow me! :)
3rd time it’s happened just proves the quality of your work.
Have seen y tube allow some of the most appalling & inaccurate nonsense go without a any consequence??
But constantly harass those few that consistently produce high quality & fascinating posts.
So for it to have happened for the third time is to your credit!✊♥️
Without a doubt Mark, the printed word lasts longer than the internet. Well done.☘️🇮🇪🧚♂️
Thank you very much, Finola!
Congratulations on your first volume. The only downside being it wouldn't include your magnificent narration. I could listen to you reading the phone book!!
i sleep to these, after i listen intently at least three times first
Could make an audio book maybe
"It seems Harvey is being economical with the truth here." omggggg this is just part of why we love you.
Subtle. That's why these restrictions are even more excessive, insulting
Well, I am extremely grateful to you for beginning a series of printed books from these episodes! I just received my copy from Amazon!!!! Yes!!! It’s here already, and I am delighted!
Although my glaucoma has been
managed well for years with some simple eye drops used daily, I do find that I get more easily fatigued when reading on the Internet. Of course, I can enjoy your work by just listening, but I really find your drawings and historical photographs, along with some new ones you have taken “on location” while doing research, to add a great deal to both my enjoyment and understanding of the subjects..
THANK YOU for taking that step of going into print. I am hardly the only reader who will be enjoying these volumes, and as I have with your other published books, I will be buying them again for birthday and holiday gifts throughout the year!
Did you know that in Norway, it has become a recognized national pastime to read crime stories during the long winter months? It may be odd, but it’s true! My husband’s family is Norwegian, and the Sons of Norway Magazine in America that comes to members, as we are, has written about this!
I think it’s very very sad that UA-cam makes inexplicable decisions that harm the work done by some of its best creators! This month, several of my favorites have left the platform altogether, and have been looking into similar platforms where fewer creator headaches exist.
You once mentioned that your daughter has been helping you somewhat with various technical and sponsorship things, and I’m hoping she will help you find other, likely better!, places to feature your excellent writing and drawing. There just must be some “creator owned” outlets. Here there is one called “Maximum Fun” for all kinds of podcasts. There must be others for writers and artists!
I’ll continue to enjoy your work, and I will follow it wherever it finds a congenial home - especially in print!
So, you are stuck with this long winded fan!!!!
Thank you Polly Alice, for your wonderful supportive comment - and also for your generous donation! I am so glad you are able to read the stories still - I have tried not to deviate in my re-writing them from the originals, but am updating and correcting errors I have made etc. It is a nice thought, that my books will be sitting on a bookcase several thousand miles away! :)
UA-cam is killing the geese that lay the golden eggs.
I love Your channel, your stories, and the care in which you present these cases. I get so excited when i see you've uploaded a new video. Thanks for the time you put in for us.
You are most welcome - thank you very much for your kind words, Heather!
Upvote first, watch later.
Always nice to hear from MJM
Thank you, Ellery!
Maybe it's the day I'm having... maybe it's because the story is relatively more modern than most stories you tell... but this one left an ache in my chest. Well narrated as usual! Best wishes on your written versions of your stories. It's a shame UA-cam doesn't tell you what phrase or word caught the attention of their algorithms and caused them to flag your last video. If it makes a difference, it showed up on my UA-cam. Perhaps it's the individual restrictions that some of your viewers put on their UA-cam accounts that flagged it?
You're back!!! Love your videos - they put me in the spot and at the exact time of these murders. Each is a jewel. Thank you!
Thank you, Catherine!
Thanks again for another gem 💎❤😊
I just got a notification from Amazon about your new book and I just bought it. I truly enjoy your books. Thank you
That is lovely to hear - thank you, Cindy!
Never let em' get you down my friend... You rock! I was away but am back now and thrilled to find your juicy stories waiting for me. 💖💗💓💞💕
Yt is harrassing all non ytube channels
You’re completely spoiling us. A written version! Just bought one because I have more books than sense, lol. Thank you for a wonderful video. I remember this case from when I was a very junior young policewoman with he Cheshire Constabulary, remembering Det Sup Arthur Benfield very well. Ah, the memories.
What a shock for his poor daughter's ..thank you mark very interesting as always ..
Thank you, Barbara.
Can't wait to have the books in hand. I have an elderly aunt who is rapidly losing her sight. I would love to read them to her. I think she would love your narration (audio & printed).
I watched the Betty Williams episode, it was wonderful and beautifully done. I can not think of any reason why they would remove it!
Comment for the algorithm gods. This channel deserves to be far larger
Always a joyful surprise to hear from you! You’ve made my day.
UA-cam is a racket. I’ll be buying your book!
That's good to hear - thank you CoraJean!
Dear mr. Macguire I have learned that you are no longer allowed to say the word rape or the words sexually assaulted on UA-cam. I know it is ridiculous but you now must say the letters SA rather than sexually assaulted. I am only telling you this because it might be the reason that your other videos were taken down. I love your work!😊
Thank you for another great video.
I prefer your channel to anything available on cable t.v.
That's very mice of you to say so - thank you, Louette.
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder I am very sincere in my thoughts.
@@louettesommers8594 , My daddy told me..."Always be SINCERE whether you mean it or not!" 😉
So excited another story. Your the best storyteller on UA-cam by far
I enjoyed this video. Just wondering what happened to her children?
Also, apparently UA-cam keys on certain words. For example, other crime videos don’t use the word “murdered” and instead say “their life was ended”.
Edit: the same thing with other words such as “rape”.
I follow an American true crime channel, and it took me a few episodes to realise some of the strange words the woman used were instead of words banned by UA-cam. I'll get my 5 bob pocket money soon and buy Volume 1. 😃
Strange killer, so he knew the evidence would be found?
Where can i buy your books? I would love to have them x
Thank you for another excellent case study Mark, this is truly tragic and it will be fascinating to discover the full facts - if we are still around to read them by the time they are released that is.
On the other issue Mark, I can access the Betty Williams case video behind a VPN and also without a VPN, although I can see some comments on there that indicate that others were having difficulty viewing it. I am sure that this is not 'human' intevention, rather the platform's use of algorithms which are picking up key words and putting certain restricions in place. I get certain comments of mine blocked / deleted because of this (although, touch wood, never on your channel). Doubt that your entire channel would be taken down, but I feel sure that, whatever happens, the quality of your content is so high that your followers here will support you wherever you wish to go. With that in mind , having purchased your first two TGAWM books, I've now ordered Vol. 1...
Many thanks, Johnny! Yes, I have come to the conclusion that it must be certain words acting as triggers - I have noticed some youtubers go to extraordinary lengths to avoid saying such words. I was puzzled to hear some historian describing "a certain leader of a European country during the 1930s and 40s who brought destruction to Europe..." - and thought, what a peculiar description! I now understand why!! I'm delighted you have the books - and hope you will enjoy this latest one!
Sure wish you’d post these on Rumble, a free speech platform. Most of the people I follow on UA-cam are on Rumble, too, and I watch them there. No worries about censorship. Keep up the great work!
I lived and worked nearby this incident. I do not remember it.
Another brilliant video...good idea for the books, although I do think your voice & artwork add so much to the stories.
Sadly, I'm not convinced he suffered from guilt or fear. It seems to me, he catalogued & filed all the details away so may never have thought of it again. 😔
Just got into bed....perfect bedtime listening, thank you !

Good storytelling.
Mr. Maguire, Hi Sir. Love your channel. Sorry you have had trouble uploading a video to all about Betty Russell. It happened to others like "Obsolete Oddity" channel too! I have also been unsubscribed to your channel. Must be somebody on You Tube trying to take away your views so their friend can have most of the views. But keep on keeping on Sir! Love your channel.❤❤❤
Did get to see the Betty Williams video. Yeah youtube put something on it but I got past it. All your cases are superb, no matter from which time.
I think UA-cam is an idiot. Article not conducive to our advertisers? Then get different advertisers. It's obvious there are people interested in these stories. Just put a marker of some kind so people can find them and advertisers will know what to avoid. My roommate and I pay a small monthly amount to avoid the ads altogether. I quit watching t.v. because of the ads. I don't quite get why they'd frown on your stories. It's not like you have used copyright material without saying where it's from. Written stuff from you. Music from others. As we've seen with the Ed Sheeran case, people will try to claim ownership of what isn't theirs. It's unfortunate that UA-camrs get shafted because of this. Anyways, it was another enjoyable listen. Thank you as always. Stay safe.🤗
Thank you so much for another interesting video. I am sorry to hear about your troubles with UA-cam.
Rip. Lorraine would be in her early 70's. Very sad. I hope her children and family have some closure. Terrible injustice.
wonder what his mom would think after preparation for her son, only to find out that he was responsible for the murder of that young woman.
His mother most likely unwittingly created the MONSTER that killed that young woman!
She never found out, she died in the 90s. As for the other reply, STOP BLAMING MOTHERS! If this was her doing, how come he only committed one murder at the age of 40? What about his Father?
Mark I sorry but not surprised you are having trouble with uTube as this former essay popped on my laptop on returning from church, something I vaguely remember from what must be within the last five years. Notwithstanding, it was a joy to follow it again as, like all your superby researched and delivered essays, it was enjoyably brilliant in all respects for which I am grateful and thankful. I do hope your Tube issue is resolved as I eschew all social media, and being possessed of little technological knowhow, I may lose the chance of watching your work. Yes! I am purchasing your books but in a reversion to childhood I love being read to by such a beguiling expert. Lol Rob
I am a simple woman. I see a new “They Got Away with Murder,” I click.
You're the classiest True Crime presenter on UA-cam. These people deciding to remove your videos are ridiculous.
PLEASE consider uploading your videos as podcasts. You have a wonderful voice and you won't have these stupid UA-cam issues. You will also reach a wider audience. ❤
Many thanks - I will certainly look into this. Many people have mentioned it, but not fully understanding it, I have never taken the plunge. I am resolved to do so!
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder idea: you could still share your sketches via podcasting; some shows (e.g. The Prosecutors, This is Criminal) feature hand drawn cover art/thumbnail for each episode 🙂
I am so sick and tired of UA-cam forcing their morality on me, I think I’m old enough (62) to decide for myself what content I view. I do however agree printed form is my preferred source of information. I empathize with you, your subject matter and logical narration is outstanding .
UA-cam guidelines pertain to advertiser-friendly content and are not worried about morality. As I'm a content creator myself I know this to be true. Also as Mark doesn't monetize his channel it's most likely a punishment because they don't make any money from him. This is why it's important to buy a coffee using the link in the description box, as he gives us ad-free entertainment. 💚
I get so excited when I see a new video from you my friend! Your hard work is much appreciated! Always so well told, even though such a sad story.
I have to say that this channel is arguably the best true crime channel on UA-cam, bar none, full stop. You, sir, are without question, the best true crime narrator/presenter on this oft-times benighted platform. Keep 'em coming, my friend, keep 'em coming!
It is the best!
I totally agree!
Completely agree.
My profoundest thank yous to you, Keith! Greatly appreciated!
You Tube are slowly driving original creators from the platform. Please don't stop posting, your subbies are more devoted than you realise 🥰
Thank you for another brilliant video, it's always a strange feeling when you realise that you have been to and know well the places that a murder has taken place and you never knew!.
Yes indeed - when I walked past this place it was many years after the murder, but I had no idea of it until quite recently!
Any chance of audio book versions, you have a great voice for narration.
Thank you, Olivia I will see what I can do!
I'm getting really fed up with UA-cam's censorship. They can get away with it just as long as viewers put up with it for the sake of great content like this that they are censoring and restricting.
I'm confused. If Lorraine was at Harvey's apartment 10 weeks prior with him taking photos "of the childen", she would've only had one child and been @ 7 months pregnant, yes? I'd also be interested to know if Harvey was the father of the youngest child.
Good points, Leslie - you are right, of course: he can only have taken a photo of the eldest child. I have made a mistake. On the second point, I really don't know who the father of the two children was, but I assume - I can do no more - that the police would have investigated the father(s) thoroughly. Only the files will reveal the extent of their inquiries and these will probably not be released in my lifetime...
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder It wasn't her child in those photos was it? IF there were photos. It was something else. Something she either didn't want out there, or something she could make money from. Because Someone else wouldn't want them seen either And why were they still in the camera (apparently) 10 weeks on? She met Richardson -IF it was Richardson that night for a purpose. And where do the chips fit in? Why would you go Away from your home to buy chips -3 lots- then carry on going Away from your home? She was meeting somebody, and the chips indicate it was meant to be a friendly encounter. Except that it wasn't.
Thank you Sir. For your hard work in producing these stories. Very much appreciated and enjoyed. Kind regards.
Thank you very much, Naailah!
Beautifully done as usual. This woman was born a few months before me and even looks somewhat like I did at that age - an odd feeling. It tugs at the heart, two children deprived of their mother; a mother's child stolen; all because of one man's drunken frustrations.
Thank you - I agree.
Putting your works into book form is a wonderful idea, but your narration is unbeatable
This one is quite different from the other cases you've covered - in most of the others, they are let off on a technicality, or there isn't enough evidence but popular opinion is against the accused. But here - nothing.
He could have left no note and this would never have been solved, not even by the 'historical standard' these cases are judged by.
Although I agree with others - I want to know more about the pictures, and how this came about. It's quite a leap from working in a bar and knowing a customer to having them visit and taking photos. It does imply a stronger connection of some kind.
But, superb as always.
My thoughts too. This one is a very sad mystery.
You are absolutely right, Richard - I hesitate to intrude some of the thoughts I have on the matter out of respect for Lorraine's family, who are very much aware of the matter. It is all somewhat recent, and her children are, of course, alive and living with the consequences of all of this. My chief reason for covering this case was the unusual circumstance of the matter coming to light almost 40 years later. When the police files are released (probably not for some decades yet) there will, I am quite sure, be a great deal on file about Lorraine, the photos, and their relationship.
It’s always a good day when Mark posts a new story! ❤️😃
Well done as always. I agree that it's strange how Richardson's name never came up during the investigation, and even stranger that Lorraine's friend never mentioned him and the camera incident. I can't help but wonder if Richardson was the man who called the police and never called back as promised. Given his erratic nature, perhaps he toyed with the idea of participating in the investigation or even confessing but decided against it.
The same thing occurred to me! It may have been a hoax call, simply further information which might (or might not) have been useful...but it is also possible, Richardson called. It is a great pity the police files are not available on this case, because I have little doubt there will be a great deal of information on them which would be fascinating...
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder I'd happily sit down with those files. I often read criminal complaints in the course of my work, and they're both fascinating and, oftentimes, unsettling.
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder I am sure it is a Cover Up. The case evidence, such as it is, has more holes in it than Emmental.
It occurs to me that the police have only one reason to keep the investigation files 'sealed'. That would be to protect themselves, in the event that the name and related incident involving of Harvey Richardson had come up and that they had failed to investigate it thoroughly enough. Without the benefit of actually reading those files, this is just a theory, of course. Even with the best of intentions, a failure of this magnitude would surely be a major embarrassment. Let alone undermining public confidence in local law enforcement, especially for people who may have moved up within ranks or even politically. . . . When cases like these are 'Unsolved', all we really have is logical conjecture & our instincts. It takes a great deal of research & long hours to produce such thorough videos, especially when You have included accurate images of the people & places concerned. Just want You to know that this has NOT gone unnoticed. Truly appreciating Your interpretations of these events. Thank You, Mr. Maguire !!!
How does UA-cam expect to find fine artists? You are a breath of fresh air on this crappy channel.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent narration. What a senseless and sad death of a young woman who left 2 children behind. I hope life has been kind to them. ❤❤
I agree - thank you.
Mark, I've since listened to your fine story of this incident. As I was saying to myself, why didn't the girlfriend implicate the killer about the camera theft, you addressed this issue. If Investigators had just been given that lead. He would have paid for his crime. With the resources applied to her murder investigation, I'm sure they would have caught him.
Another fantastic video, even though it was a frustrating investigation without the proper outcome.
Thanks again!!
Many thanks, Michael - I completely agree. It seems quite inconceivable that the incident concerning the cameras did not come up, and yet that is the police claim. Without access to the files we cannot know for sure, of course. It may be that the statement was made by Lorraine's friend and police simply overlooked the matter...
@They Got Away With Murder that's always one issue that amazes me about the Law Enforcement Investigation File in Britain, they can be sealed for years. Here in America, as I'm you're aware, Law Enforcement Investigation Materials are considered Public Record and must be released for public consumption once the incident has a conclusion and the Investigation is complete. FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) mandates and only a Judges order can sealed. And even then, Suit can be filed and taken up to the SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) for a ruling, if necessary.
Pleasantly surprised to find a new case study today 😊. I very much enjoy your work !! Thank you Mr McGuire …
Thank you, Susan.
It is always a thrill to get a notification from you, Mark. This is a fascinating case. Your gentle voice & tone are soothing despite the content. I can’t imagine the pain & horror that Lorraine’s family must have gone through & I wonder if finally knowing what happened to her eased this in any way. I also feel for Richardson’s family, even though estranged, & what his revelations meant for them. Thank you for presenting another interesting case & for sharing it. Take care & Best wishes.💚✌️
I'm glad you liked it, Anne - thank you!
Oh my - I have a Strong and Visceral reaction every time I see a new video. Thank you So Much. Please do an anthology of these as an Audible release. The stories are amazing but your Voice narrating is what makes it for me. Pop these babies in an anthology on Audible and I’d be the First to buy
Visceral is one of my favourite words! Thank you, Alyssa - I will try my best to reproduce everything in Audible form, eventually! ;)
The bad news: the bots that rule YT are horrid. Millions of videos in bad taste-peppered with questionable “facts”, poached images and clips overlaid by AI narration-go untouched by the censors. Yet, I’ve seen the best, most original and educational channels (who incidentally know what a primary source is) have found themselves in YT’s crosshairs. It would be nice if there was an ideal platform for original, educational content that could be accessed from nearly anywhere on the globe and linked to patreon or other payment option. So far l haven’t seen or heard of such a thing.
Thank you - I agree!
if I hear that computerised voice, I am gone, and the vid gets a dislike! The same if they turn out to be uploads from certain American 'history' channels. I know their grasp on history will be tenuous at best. There are about half a dozen Real people, who I know will give classy, unbiased thoroughly researched material every time and Mark is one of them. (although there is one where success seems to have gone to the head. A pity) Thank you for that.
UA-cam is so crazy. They should get rid of videos of idiots doing stupid stunts that get other idiots hurt. What you do is history. It may be criminal history but it's still history. I saw your last video and it's still showing on your channel on my youtube. I wonder if some folks may have their settings on google or youtube set to PG or something like that.
I'm saving this for bedtime.
I guess I was lucky as I was able to watch To Die Upon A Kiss - Betty Williams and I am still able to access it on UA-cam. They do put up a notice advising viewers that the content deals with suicide and you have to press a button saying you understand and wish to proceed, but this is often displayed on other channels when the subject concerned is suicide. The printed form is a good idea but I like listening to stories. Harvey Richardson is an unusual murderer - do we assume this was his only murder? He led a seemingly reclusive life in his latter years and interestingly, kept his folder of his murder victim. When he entered a hospice he had time to destroy its contents but he didn't so maybe it was his "legacy" to the police.
I love your content, I just had surgery for cancer, and would be lost without both you and well I never, podcast would be great
I am sorry to hear you have been ill, Lisa, but hope you are now on the road to recovery. I am glad you are finding things to distract you along the way! All my very best to you for your speedy recovery.
You always deliver with perfect articulation. I am also glad that you have added a new story! Thank you.
Thank you so much for all the hard work you have put in your videos, Mark. I am definitely going to buy the printed version of them. Are all the links in the description? (I am sorry too busy writing to be able to listen to).
Mr McGuire is such a fantastic presenter. His beautiful, affirmative, but gentle voice is a pleasure to listen to. I look forward to each new recording ❤

They want everyone to add that automatic censorship made by a program. Imagine. It'd ruin the cadence!!
Just stumbled across this... I'm now binge watching your videos thank you ☺️
Isn’t Mark amazing!
Thank you very much, Evelyn - I hope you enjoy the others too! :)
Welcome to the club!
You are in for a great treat.
This was a very interesting story. It was kinda scary to me knowing he got away with murder.
Thank you for sharing.
Boooooo on YoyTube!!! Your video’s are never offensive or crass. You NEVER swear.
I do the best I can to avoid unnecessary offence, certainly - but the subject of my channel is murder, and it makes it difficult to avoid all unpleasantness! :)
Yet another time to quickly cancel all plans because the notification comes in - a new TGAWM just posted! Thank you, as always, Mark! Such a sad story though. Perhaps this one hits home for me more, since I grew up in both Lancashire and Cheshire during the same period as the victim. (P.S I enjoy your books but would miss your voice!)
Thank you, Margaret. Yes, for me also - Liverpool, Wigan and Chester were places I spent many years as a child. I do know Rodney Street also, as my sister and I once visited the photographer E Chambre Hardman there in his final years. He had taken a photo of my grandfather many years before...
Since there is no gravestone to identify her location, it seems that any trace of Lorraine’s life has been obliterated. Such a sad case. Thank you, as always!
Thanks Mark. Another great story. The books are a great idea, but please don’t underestimate the quality and strength of your spoken delivery. An audiobook compilation would, I’m sure, be a great success. Please reserve a copy for me! Also, a screenplay, as each story would make an excellent one hour tv play, like Armchair Theatre back in the ‘70s. Again, we’ll done and thanks for your hard work! 😊
Agreed, mostly listen for Mark's voice and perspective on these crimes.
Many thanks, Adrian - I do intend to look into the audiobook aspect!
Thank you for another great episode of They Got Away with Murder. And congratulations on joining the ranks of other great youtube producers who get harrassed by youtube for no consistent or fathomable reasons.
Hahaha! Well that is a good way to look on it! Thank you, Jared!
You cant say 'murder' or any 'violent' words. Made in case of children watching. Uh?
A truly great channel 👏
Thankyou for all your research and dedication that it must take to produce this excellent channel
Thank you very much indeed, Lily!
Another great video! Such a sad story though. The police/detectives worked so hard to solve this murder…even though it took a long time I’m glad to know the answers finally came. Thank you so much for all the hard work involved in getting these stories to us. ♥️
Thank you very much, Kristi - I'm glad you liked it!
Strange that as one of Lorraine's girlfriends apparently knew of a connection between the victim and Richardson, he was apparently never on the police radar. I think it is most likely the girlfriend didn't pass the information to the police, whatever her reasons.
May have gotten a threat about it.
Probably worried if he was innocent she would be done for the camera theft
It's easy to be wise in hindsight but the fact that he worked at the wine bar and that Lorraine also had an association with him through the photographs were leads that should have resulted in his detection.
Most, if not ALL serial killers are created by our Govts. and why most of those cases go "unsolved." Kinda like the Govt-sponsored CIA bringing in the drugs, and then another arm of the Govt. arrests us for doing the drugs.
It is amazing how much absolute rubbish gets through undetected while interesting well produced things are blocked. It is their dastardly algorithms. An automated program decides everything these days, in one way or another.
🤗 Thank you kindly Sir. I was unaware of this case and thoroughly enjoyed your telling it to us. Nicely done🤗 !
Thank you!
Excellent documentary as usual, Mark! Unfortunately, many important facts were overlooked by the detectives and police regarding Lorraine's murder, if you were the detective on this case, this case would have been solved during Richardsin's lifetime and he would not have gone unpunished.;) It affected me greatly that Lorraine who was not lucky in her life, after her death, was interred in an unmarked public grave , as if she had never existed.
Thank you very much, Madonna - yes, a sad, premature and quite unnecessary end to Lorraine's life. It also struck me that she lived just 400 metres (Russell Street) from the place she died, in Rodney Street: and yet the two streets could not have been more different: Rodney Street is an elegant street of well-to-do people, in which a Prime Minister (Gladstone) was born, and Russell Street (in 1970) was at the other end of the social spectrum... The two worlds met here on that September night...
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder Ak yourself Why she was in Rodney Street, as it was the opposite direction to her house? Who were the 3 packets of chips for? How did she know Richardson beyond as a barman (Do you know where Your barman lives and allow him to photograph your children?') How did she get the funds for all these evenings out? Were the photos Only of her kids? I hate to go down this route, but it has to be said
More importantly, why does this seem like a cover up? Maybe you could look at who was living in Rodney Street at the time, not dead politicians? Just a suggestion.
Her life is very much honoured by her family. Her children were raised by her grandmother, who also had young children of her own. A gravestone is to be read by strangers not to remind those who love you that you lived.
A hidden confession discovered only after the death of the murderer? Sounds straight out of Agatha Christie. Terrible crime but a fascinating story. Thank you! 🙂
Many thanks, Elizabeth - it was that final element which makes the story so compelling, I think!
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder But was it? Richardson comes across to me as someone who may have had autism or something of that nature. He was certainly involved , but if he had some kind of neurodiversity that might explain his obsession and why he referred to himself in the 3rd person. Because he was projecting himself? I grew up Thinking of myself in the 3rd person, and it was only recently when I realised I was doing it again, that I worked out I stopped around the time I married! As far as I know I have not killed anyone.
I put it down to being a frustrated writer. By using the 3rd person I Can disassociate, but I can also project that 3rd person into other people's situations and thought processes. That is what writers do. It is called Empathy. You will never Be that person, but you can attune to Them better.
If a friend of mine is having an issue I never say 'I would...'I say 'have You considered...'
Not that I think Richardson had any empathy at All, I am just saying that not everyone who thinks in the 3rd person is a homicidal maniac!
in fact it was a very long time before I realised not everyone does it!
The odd thing is, when I write, I write in the First! It is my way of getting inside the character. And because the emotions are not happening to Me, but a projection, I can write more honestly. This should make sense to you, as you are very proficient writer and I am just a wannabe.
I think there is a whole novel just in this one case. It is like buying a jigsaw from a charity shop and getting home to find all the major pieces are missing. All you have are the peripheries. Which is a mystery in and of itself.
Thank you Mr M for a bank holiday treat. So excited to see your latest upload ! Thank you ☺️
Censorship and shadow banning by UA-cam has gotten out of hand. Have you considered alternate platforms? A lot of people have started publishing their content on Rumble, and your content would be a great fit for Spotify. I can appreciate your commitment to preserving your work in written form, but you are such a great narrator it would be a shame to lose your audio content.
Many thanks - I have looked at Rumble, and will have a look at Spotify. Thanks!
Such a tragedy, Mark for this young woman, unacknowledged in her burial site. RIP Lorraine. What happened to her children?
I tried to make contact with them but it is a delicate thing - and I wasn't successful in the end!
This gentleman is a master of his craft.
Many thanks, Michael!
This is the terrifying thing for me: the nutters walk among us, they're all around, yet we can never tell for sure which ones they are. Their 'human' masks are so well-cultivated and perfectly-fitting that they are almost completely indiscernible from real human beings. I hope Richardson's mind was plagued with guilt and his life an anxiety-ridden misery - but somehow, I doubt that was the case. I hope Lorraine Jacob's children and family have lived wonderful, full lives, met beautiful people and realised their deepest-held dreams - I am sure they will have been watched over with pride, and with love, by one they had taken from them many years ago.
Well done, Mark. The fact that Lorraine had known Harvey, supports the evidence that most murder victims have known their attackers. So much for stranger danger. I appreciated the inclusion of the map of the neighborhood of the murdered woman--made it easier to follow the events of the story. Best drawing--the view of Harvey where we are looking over his shoulder while he scans the Echo for details of the police investigation. I had no trouble watching your last video. I eagerly await your next offering!
Very many thanks, Beth!
Im finding youtube more and more tries to govern speech in a worrying mimic of 1984. Its a sad day when government still preserves free apeech yet private enterprise crushes it .
