Glad you said you prefer Amber lenses as I’ve just bought a pair of Fortis wraps with amber lenses before watching this video, looking forward to trying them out 👍
I love your videos! They are calming, informative and awsome! But as i love fly fishing as well as any other type of fishing i would rccomend/ ask you to fly fish on this stream next time. Im sure on a fly you can get all types of fish that you have reccomended😊 please make a fly fishing video on same stream
Nice1 Chris you never fail to produce I was 😮 when I saw that big pike caught in such a small stream 😁 I’m so envious of the rivers in England that have so many different species of fish 🤷🏼♂️ up here in Scotland we only have Brown trout which I always fish for but there’s only salmon & graying as my other options I’ve never fished for or caught a salmon and in 40 years of fishing my local river I’ve caught two sea trout fresh run & the only reason I knew what they were was the sea lice on them but they were over 20 years ago & I’ve caught 2 graying both on the same day & that was about 25 years ago it’s been all wild browns since 🤷🏼♂️ don’t get me wrong I love trout fishing but I’ve never understood why there’s no pike perch chub barbel we have pike & perch but mostly in the lochs for big ones our canal is shite there lots of perch but nothing big I used to catch Jack pike in the canal but not for years now although from what I’ve seen online there’s some big pike & perch about 25/30 miles out of the city I’m not sure if it’s the same canal though 🤷🏼♂️ I’d love to have all those species in the rivers near me 😢 does anyone know why Scottish rivers don’t have those other species 🤔 ✌🏼💙🎣🏴👍🏼
Thanks for getting my weekend off to a great start Chris top vid by the way! When it comes to small streams though i used to live in Bengeo Hertfordshire, basically the beginning of the River Lea it's a small windy stream with power and slacks but I netted a twenty five pound carp out of the margin with my landing net! Unbelievable how big some fish are in small streams! Thanks again 😊
Really nice video! Fishing in creeks and small rivers is really fun and can be very rewarding. I use to fish a creek about the same size as this one and managed to catch a decent pike a few weeks ago. It was 122 cm (44 inches) long and it took me 3 trips before I finally managed to catch her. So the myth about river monsters seem to be true :D
Chris 5 kids and you still putting out awesome videos, big shout out to your wife, apologies don’t know her name, though she obviously loves you to let you continue doing what you love, I am sure you help with your loved ones or you wouldn’t be out their catching fish 👍👍😀😀
Really interesting hearing you talk about the body language of the pike before it struck... little things like that I'd never even pick up on myself haha
Hey Chris, I feel like it would be a cool idea to do some sort of challenge along the lines of you are only allowed 10 casts and have to land 5 fish. You can switch that up any way you want lol I just thought it would be a cool idea.
I've fished a lot of streams in the arse end of nowhere or on private land where there's zero angling pressure or activity alongside the banks and I'm surprised you even caught anything whilst stood right at the waters edge. In the streams I've fished, as soon as the fish hear you or see anything move, they're out of there and they don't come back for hours sometimes. I've had to break leafy branches off trees to squat behind before even attempting a cast, or had to do some creep, crawly ninja manoeuvres and cast from many meters away from the waters edge. These are all very wild trout, though. Awesome job, looked like you had a good day :)
So much fish. I'm in La France fishing for Black Bass, but blanked for 6 morning sessions, locals here say there is a catfish issue or something. Anyway...close to no fish this holiday. Glad to be back fishing in The Netherlands again soon. Love the area your fishing in, looks so stunning. Ps; any tips for a UL rod? Got the SG4 2-12 dropshot, but looking for another light perch etc rod.😊
Chris always find ways to catch fish everywhere ❤that’s why he is the best British angler❤❤ I’m watching this about 9:05pm British time as I live in England I once caught a 3lb perch in the grand union canal on a worm
Can you do a video of how and when you got into ultra light fishing as it’s not all that popular in uk aye. also where newcomers should start please. I’m a match fishermen but this method looks appealing
That Pike at the end is that streams version of the creature from the black lagoon. I bet it's lurking in the deep bit picking off fish going one way or the other. I wonder if they know there's danger there but have to move up and down anyway and take the risk? A bit like a crossing point and crocodiles.
plus that big urban trout you took out and it snagged in the ladder ... ok ... you never named the spot ... but a lot o folk musta gone "thats at oor backies"....the place musta been hoching wi every man and his dog ...... that fish is toast...(mayonaise and dill)
Yes, I have those actually. Makes a world of difference with reducing water reflections, mine came in a box with 4 nd filters in different strengths(8, 16, 32 and 64), all polarized
Good fishing, lovely pike. Some nice photography. Why dont you get some dungarees? Save showing builders bum crack? Thats top fashion advice, with all due respect. Heheh
A tip for polarized sunglasses - Decathlon has a good selection and they are fairly inexpensive so it's not too terrible when you lose them, step on them, etc. while creeping along the banks. BTW: Mepps spinners are my bait of choice when fishing new, small streams for multiple species. I caught 5 different species with the same small, silver spinner in one day in the same canal. Tight lines!
Well no trout but that Pike, Wow! Fun fact: All Salmonidae (Salmon, Trout and Char) originate in what is now British Columbia Canada. The oldest fossils from the family are found there.
🌲🌳🍀🐾🦉🦌🎣 Absolutely my favorite way to fish, WOODY STREAMS, in the WOODLANDS. I usually fish for PIKE & SMALLMOUTH BASS. Sometimes WALLEYE & the occasional LARGEMOUTH or ROCK BASS too. TOP WATER'S, & various SPINNERS work well. As do, minnow immitating "Stick Baits".. Bring both Small and Large NETS! And a hat with drop down mosquito netting & thin gloves to protect your hands too from the "Skeeters"! 😉🎣🦌🦉🐾🍀🌳🌲.
Do you get memberships in many clubs? You seem to fish in many such different waters. I struggle with finding a place to fish. So many clubs, rules, tickets there, membership there, that one has no parking spaces, that one is jus a small stretch not worth driving 25 miles. In effect I often resign and fish the same boring and crowded Manchester urban spots. What should I do Chris?
@@Macacub Do I get tickets from bayliff or should I drive to a fishing shop somewhere? How does it work? If I like a place 20 miles away should I do 40 miles a day before to buy a ticket and then 40 miles fishing? Should I take cash with me fishing? Does anyone follow these rules or is it like people just go fishing and if bayliff comes they pay?
I just use the logic ‘no sign, no issue’ That and if im completely honest…. I take a carrier bag and fill it with rubbish on the bank then if i see someone where im not meant to be fishing i just say the rubbish was driving me mad so im clearing up. Only ever had 2 people blow up on me, a farmer who asked what i was doing and because i was standing there fishing i said ‘well i wouldnt say im bowling pal’ and he just told me i cant fish there so i left. A woman who went absolutely ballistic at me for using a private drive to access a bank on the river tame, she called the police but im pretty sure even they hung up as she was screaming to much😂 im too stubborn so i just sat there for 15 mins fishing while she was being held back by her husband and neighbour. I actually have a petition on change active, calling for the right to access to banks or right to roam like in scotland. It costs me £170 a year to fish the 3 local stretches to me. It’s absolutely ludicrous that the youth would have to find £170 + license fees just to go fishing on a bank that shouldnt be allowed to be owned anyway. Clubs can still lease the stretch but should only be able to uses it privately 8 times a month or 2 comps a week with public allowed to fish on the remaining days. On another note i also brought a kayak 3 years ago and use that to fish anywhere. Im gone before anyone has a chance to moan but its a hassle taking a kayak when i only wanted an hour on the bank to level my head out 😂
Great video Chris, very enjoyable to watch. Got to love a small stream always amazes me how few people fish them.
