- I review, breakdown and explain The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar. I discuss the Netflix movie by Wes Anderson based on the Roald Dahl story and the true meaning of the ending. I react to the characters and cast such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Richard Ayoade, and Ben Kingsley. I also give my theories and prediction on the second movie, The Swan.

What did you think of the first Wes Anderson short film on Netflix? I'll be covering them all as they get released daily! Comment what you thought below!
films? how many are there??
@@dazzlingburritoes5693i believe 4 (including henry sugar ), the rat catcher, poison, and the swan. not sure which came out first after henry sugar tho lmao 😂🤷🏽♂️🫡
In other words Henry Sugar could probably not sleep since even if he closed his eyes it was as if he were awake seeing the surrounding environment. He had condemned himself to perpetual vigil.
I haven't read the original story but the movie was really nice.
I am constantly amazed at how much dialogue these actors have to memorize and hash out!
If you shut your eyes, it’s an audio book. If you open them, it’s a video book
I loved the staging of this film. The narrative style and the extreme theatrical presentation was so fresh. Reminds me of Michel Gondry's work.
Yeah it was amazing to watch from a visual perspective!
😊
This movie just left me feeling fluffy and warm inside. What a thoroughly philosophical tale.
That's good then!
@@BrainPilot yeah :) I'm very glad I watched it.
Quite a lot of We Anderson’s films I watch have a sort of feel to it if you’re know what I mean fantastic Mr Fox really fun the grand Budapest bloody amazing French dispatch I quite like it. It might be in black-and-white but it’s never stopped anyone. bottom line I love Wes Anderson
... I think you misinterpreted the movie. Him seeing a blood clot was a way of the author to say that it was a real story.
I don't remember exactly what was said, but it was along these lines: "If it was not a real story this is how it would end..."
Also, it was explained outright why he lost his excitement for gambling.
I heard the opposite, if this were not a real story but a made up one it would need a dramatic ending
Yes, exactly. He made it very clear that the change was not about the clot
i just saw it and immediately thought you'd make a post about it. It was truly the inception of its time. I love wes anderson's signature style, it really shined here. i was smiling ear to ear the whole 40 mins
There was something about it wasn’t there!
Henry Sugar was SO good! I’m glad they kept faithful to the book.
Such a good watch. Felt true to Wes Andersons style and yet felt like a different experience altogether. Brilliant
Couldn't agree more!
i didn't know the Sorcerer Supreme use his yoga power to cheat in gamble
Joke a side, love the movie like all other Wes Anderson's works. Love how the movie contains 4 layers of story, that's crazy
Thanks for this analysis. I read the stories the day before I watched these new Wes versions. The films are great, but I felt I had a better appreciation for what Wes did after reading the original first. I was astounded by how well he did these and how reminded us that these were short stories. Massive thanks for your take in this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The meditation referred in the movie is called “Tratak Meditation”. Its part of Hatha Yoga.
I just watched it and I just Loved it 🎉!!!
Me to… loved the movie❤❤❤
The psycholigical horror of always be able to win knowing it also is just as worse to think about being immortal knowing is a curse and now we know what we will forget gladly
Or u become a short while hero there are so many real life stories like that
I belive you rushed the video a bit, since you said that the motivation for Henry Sugar's actions was him seeing a blood cloth in himself.
That was supposed to be the ending if the story was false.
I hate to see a video essay like this lose it's credibility from an error like the one you made.
I’ve been waiting to watch this for a night when I was in the right vibe, and absolutely loved it. Also so glad that I came to your page for an analysis and there was already one waiting for me!!! 🎉
It felt like a pointless story that was leading up to something but didn’t. And it’s mainly for people to just ask “how was that filmed? How was that shot? How did they memorize those lines?” But it doesn’t actually add much to the main point
The filming/stage aspect added a sense of doubt to the story. I.e. The yogi “floating” on a box. The actors playing multiple characters. Realizing that the only thing we should not doubt is the magic of someone becoming a better person.
watched the movie yesterday. . and i was so into this movie that i am now watching this explaination to so that i'll feel like i'm watching the movie with you again.
Your narration is on a race with the film's 😂 The film certaintly was different. The plot flowed smoothly and it was executed in a manner that didn't allow me time to think. So here I am searching reviews about it because I am quite overwhelmed. One for the books, I guess?
is henry sugar a real guy? If he is then can i use that magic yogi bear thingy for myself???
just watched it. amazing
It was good wasn't it!
So I should start counting cards?
Wait but the clot wasn’t “real”
Not gonna lie, I’d LOVE to see more of Wes Anderson’s Work to include actor narration. It’s cool to see how we are looking at a movie through a perspective of a book narration.
We can only truly see when we’re no longer afraid.
breakdown kaha hai?
If the incident is real then I can say with certainty that our country India has lost many things which people should see. Our people are the owners of many powers. This country has been ruled for thousands of years but The knowledge that the people of this country have, will not be found in any other country. In many of our tribal areas, there were people who knew 106 languages, ranging from languages of different countries. The language of many animals was also present. The name of one such person is the great Tantya Bhil. He is known as the tribal and Indian Robin Hood. When he was arrested by the British government, it is said that A. He got an offer to become a special advisor to Queen Victoria and he took it. This is a recognition and the second recognition is that of his powers and his knowledge and the respect that people had for him. In the name of a revolutionary who sacrificed his life for the tribal people and his country but was forgotten by this country because he was a Dalit, lower caste, a tribal. ❤
Its just fiction my guy
Don't forget about Dhalsim.
@@heitorpedrodegodoi5646 This is not just imagination, it is history, many people will call this imaginary but those people had those qualities, they used to talk to animals, that was art, that was education, that was their knowledge.
@@JAY_JOHAR_ And Lemuria is real.
Am I the only one liking neither 'The wonderful story of Henry Sugar' nor 'Asteroid City? They feel like stage plays and I am not a fan of theatre. I absolutely loved 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', "The Royal Tenenbaums', 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou' and 'Rushmore'.
ikr mate, Aesteroid City was out of our range :)
Oh I thought they felt like stage plays too (though I enjoy stage plays, so I enjoyed these a lot).
I enjoy theater, but I hate monotone, unemotional, joyless performances in order to try to fit an aesthetic. So this was "alright," but it felt like it's intended for a "higher" class of people. It was just fast, rushed, distracted, kind of unclear.
I think the true explanation lies in believing he was levitating.
Great movie
Even greater book
💜
The novel was inspired in Arthur Sinclair 😂
I loved it
Same! It was awesome!
Great movie
Short and straight to the point. I loved it.
But still, the grand Budapest hotel is my favorite.
Do you know that it's a true story ?
It's based on true story🎉🎉🎉
It's definitely based on a fictional true story.
Delightful Wes Anderson perfection!
Indeed!
Its was okay but kindof anticlimactic
Very ritch film. So much content and quality
Totally agree!
I WANT to like Wes Anderson's movies, I always try to, they are so gorgeous to look at.
But the acting in them is always so arch and so emotionless that it drives me insane. One expression and one tone of voice the whole way through. There's just no joy in his movies for me, it makes everything in them feel fake and contrived, when the characters say something emotional I never believe it, it feels like a parody to me. And it's especially painful because I've loved this story and wished for a movie version of it for years, and I hoped it would be a joyful, exuberant movie like the story felt when I first read it.
Not a movie not a story Complete trash,. u need to be little insane to get something out of it
1st comment
while the movie is probably worth to watch, the comments and especially a voice like a surgery man in abortion clinic is awful.
When did that happen?
