So with all the crazy alpha news one of the most exciting things so far are 2 new races we had just discovered that no one really saw coming. One are actual new light undead models that seem to be related to Arathi and it is a similar undead mechanism as Calia Menethil.
Even more interestingly a brand new race was discovered known as the Harronir that really seem to be a setup for a new allied race with how much customization that had gotten as well as other hints.
These are night elven ancestors the dark trolls, very likely related to Elun'Ahir the first world tree that seems to actually be in Khaz'algar and interestingly enough they might even be vampiric as well a seeing that old god blood is flowing through their zone. So what are these 2 new races, let's get into it because there is a ton of datamined info?

Because then they would have to remodel every single armor piece in the game to make them fit on the new races. I'm not saying they can't do that. They can definitely do it, but they want to save money instead

They added a race that had only two armor pieces visible.
I think it was a serious design flaw to dress up each classic races from head to toe, even allowing tauren to wear helmets. Many of the Horde races looked way better with less armor and clothing in pre-WoW era.

They are not vampire trolls I’m almost certain they are the missing link from trolls to night elves as elves came from the dark trolls. They might be a sect that stayed behind.
The fact that they have tusks and quills screams Quillboars.
Yeah these are definitely the dark trolls or as you said a sect that stayed behind after evolving yet keeping their troll-like nature. They’re basically the ones that didn’t continue messing with the well or arcane magic which caused them to not evolve even more.

@@justinb7494 Propably. These caves are pretty isolated and hide entire civilizations like the Arathi Humans and maybe some threat forced the Haronir to flee underground
I think originally Djaradin were supposed to be troll ancestors, but changed, you can see in the concept artwork. So now they introduced these new ones instead.
Yeah something was definitely scrapped there, or this was an early concept for Dragonflight and it got moved for the War Within.
yeah, now the Djaradin are just a type of Giant to play into the whole Giants vs Dragons thing. But they really don't use the Djaradin much at all for story, which always kinda pissed me off. We're on an island where are friends are being strung up like killed deer and eaten. But not once do we fight them as the main threat, and instead they follow Fyrakk into the Emerald Dream....what? lol
I think the Arathi that we'll meet in the War Within are not, Thoradin's direct descendants but the descendants of Arathi Humans and Quel’Thalas High Elves coupling and intermarrying after the Troll Wars, which was a way to preserve the Arathi bloodline through their Half-Elf offspring due to the longevity of elves.

Light undead is like the most unusual choice considering the light not only hurts the undead ,but gives them an extreme amount of pain. Even when undead priests use the light it hurts them lore wise.
i saw a theroy that harronir could be related to quilboar to as they have porcupine quill customization options
20 years of WoW, and they still can't find a way/excuse to add in Ogres, Broken, Furbolgs, etc., when there's already lore connections in the damn game...?
I think the light undead will only be a customization option for undead like the red dreanei

They make me think of more civilized/Elf like Bugbears from DnD, and I kinda hope they turn out to be some kind of Goblin creature.
Wow! Let's hope they are playable (and, in my case, that Blizz gives extra character slots to play new races and combinations)
Cross realm guilds, and basically cross realm everything is coming in war within. So you could just create a character on a different server.

Weren't we supposed to see proto-trolls in the Dragon Isles? I remember the devs talking about something like that in the DF announcement
Yeah I feel like this is that Dragonflight concept now added in TWW. Seeing these are cave people it is likely we were supposed to meet them in Zaralek or something similar especially as they are night elven ancestors and night elves were a huge part of Dragonflight.
I think that the light undead is not an allied race but a possible quest line for the current undead race just like the draenei with the Eradar customization quest
I hope so. I'm tired of reskins being added as a separate race. It would be nice to just change the appearance of our current Forsaken characters rather than having to level a new one from scratch or pay for a race change.
Yeah and it'd be cool if it was their way of introducing undead paladins, as it stands right now, undead paladins doesn't make a whole lot of sense in their plans of making almost all classes playable by all races

I just want an elf that can be a shaman. We've Night Elf, Blood Elf, Void Elf, Nightbourne and none of them can be shaman.
Those characters you describe as vampiric look like an in-between stage of the trolls developing into night elves. If they spend a major part of their development underground would answer some questions and explain why night elves have purple skin and prefer the night and shadows.
Har'ronir kinda sounds like Shan'ronir... y'know what Dargrul called us? Maybe the Drogbar were the Proto trolls? But if they are the missing Link between Trolls and Kaldorei then we better get some badass gothic totems

It's almost like Blizzard "heard you" and all the complaints about Calia being a complete random npc and breaking the laws of proper undeath or resurrection, and said "Bam, you get a new race based entirely on that new concept!" I'm almost scared to say the word "retcon" now.
The same was with Sethrak and yet they continue to be absent as an alaid race
swear on my sanity if it even still exists, I would love to see "Lightborne Undead" as an allied race. I hope their race perks are wicked cool

Personally I think it would be good if the light undead looked a bit more different from regular undead. Less zombified rotting flesh, maybe something more along the lines of Ethereals or Lightforged. Like obviously they're still undead, but I just feel they should look kind of sanctified or purified, like the rot has stopped and they can stand up straight again. Even if the Light is bad enough to use undead puppets like the Scourge, I think at the very least it has a better sense of style and hygiene, you know what I'm saying?
Considering all the Quills on their body, I came to the conclusion that these are not related to Night Elves or Trolls. By the features and possible exposure to Titan magic & Azeroth world soul. There is a strong possibility that these harronir are actually evolved Quillboars.
Looking at evidence in Warcraft history any race exposed to order magic tend to evolve more human like depending on the amount of magic they are exposed to. The original Dragon Aspects for example in their visage form took the appearance of either elves or human. When looking at the dark trolls they were exposed to the well of eternity that had both order & Azeroth's natural magic. So trolls with order magic ended up looking like Elves we know today.
The Jinyu, Pandaren & Hozen are another example of order magic at work considering the Vale of Eternal Blossom was a facility by Keeper Freya. However in their case they evolved from animals or really primitive humanoid creatures (The Jinyu from Murlocs). My theory is these 3 races from Pandaria were individually exposed to different levels of order magic hence their different levels of intelligence and wisdom.
The Titan Forged however is more interesting. Because they were task with monitoring and protecting Azeroth, They were exposed with both Order Magic from the Titans and Azeroth's natural magic. When the Old gods unleased the curse of flesh its possible that due to their existing order and Azeroth's magic they were able to maintain their original forms in some way after becoming flesh. The vrykul children evolving into humans my theory is Azeroth played a hand in it so that these children of the vrykul wouldn't fall prey to further corruption from the old gods.
The new region in War Within is directly under Kalimdor, so it is not impossible that a tribe of Quillboars migrated further south and went underground. Even today if we go to any Quillboar territories they live usually in the underground cave systems. They are also seen practicing nature magic as both Druids and Shamans, so the nature armour the Harronir are wearing makes sense. My theory is the Harronir are an evolved race of Quillboars who were heavily exposed to order magic from the Earthen Machines & Azeroth's nature magic from living in Hallow Fall and maybe also the magic from the light could have also physically changed them into a more elvish form. Why I think the light also could have affected them? is because the Arathi humans all have pointed ears. However you can also debate that the Arathi Humans are descendants of both human and elves considering past alliances during the troll wars.
There is still plenty of room for speculation but my theory is the Harronir are evolved Quillboars as a result of Order, Light and Azeroth's natural Magic. If people think the Harronir are primal Elf-Trolls then there is a possibility that trolls evolved from Quillboars when you consider the Tusks, long noses, Two fingered Hands, Two Toed feet and spikey hair.

I think the humanoid nerubians are more interesting as a playable race.
For me the troll thing is the évolution between troll and elves😊
meh i'd rather the light forged undead look like calia instead of the normal undead with a few glow effects added. Also i think the reason you get "vampire" vibes are the tusks and the fact that the "vampires" in shadowlands were basically just grey elves
I think they look very cool, but I'm of the opinion they should really on bringing some of the classic races like ogres and Naga in as playable races... Also fresh undead option would be really nice too
We still haven't gotten the allied races from Pandaria and Shadowlands what makes you think any of these new races outside of factionless dwarves,or whatever we are calling them, are getting added.

It's possible the Lightforged Undead are the resurrected Scarlet Crusade fanatics. I could see this happening as they are entirely enthralled to the Light, but also didn't mind having some Undead on their side. Such as the Bishop you fight in the Monastery.
Harronir for the alcance and sanlayn for the horde but with model more vampiric
i just want to play a mele night elf with the zandalari troll animation and a female nightelf with a nightborn animation.

Hot take and probably unpopular opinion, but I think the Harronir should dark mutated bat humans as an inversion to Arathi

I don't see them as trolls. They don't have the 3 toe, 3 finger thing or anything.
I don't think those "light undead" will be an allied race but i do think they could be a cool part of the story. Judging by their looks im speculating they could be the result of the Arathi's botched attempts to infuse themselves with the Light like the Lightforged.
I wish they had inded models like her that stand up straight....be cool to have both options likebthe orcs.
I don't think the New looking Elves are Vampires. They look more like Dark Trolls between a Troll and a Night Elf than actual vampire.
I really like the way blizzard is coming with this, there is so much potential to shake up with core warcraft lore, not that non sense shadowlands high fantasy and soft dragonflight

I wish they’d just give the undead a standing up postion instead of the crouched postion also I’d have love a vampire type race one of the ones from ravendreath would have been perfect for that but instead we got shit dragons hybrids and now for some reason we have light undead which makes 0 sense they should have given us dark undead like the banshees where the forsaken look more human instead of rotting corpses that’s what we need in reality

Light undead joins the horde and that makes sense because of Calia Menethil is in the the horde and plus they don’t fit in the Alliance in terms of appearance… and the other race just looks to evil and barbarian 😂

Just for whatever reason we cant have them. its not going to happen in retail. blizzard hates giving us more race options.
Light undead/paladins have supporting lore since day 1, but even more so since Calia and BfA, however, porcupine-vampire-troll-elves?! WTF is Blizz thinking?! Why not just give players one of the playable races they’ve been asking for for almost 20 years?!

Calia is unrotted because she was resurrected so close to her death. Body had no time to rot. The rest of us (forsaken) got brought back after being dead a while longer. But I guess the Light undead will have the same (body) options as normal forsaken since it's probably easier to do that (include the Chinese body options) than to split them up. I'd certainly hope so lol.
Think someone, somewhere at ActiBlizz is looking at statistics on 'most played races' and using that....
(And probably discounting 'human' since those are boring and 'problematic' nowadays lol)

Honestly I have no idea how forsaken story should move on, the only logical and classical way was destroyed in legion when Genn destroyed that valkyr lamp which Sylvanas wanted to use to get more valkyr for herself but this light forsaken stuff sounds to me like something's not right when it comes to the forsaken 💀

Honestly, I find this new "light undead" design worse than Calia's. At least hers seemed to have some thought put into it: an undead that looks more "healed" and preserved due to holy magic. These new models are... just like other undead, but they emit light. Like, wow, really?
I'm betting now that these guys are going to be Old god related, but not Old god aligned, like they will be Mixed between Azeroth and old god blood for origin or such. the Quillls remind me so much of Spiders for some reason. and with the claws/fur and the eyes just scream highly mutable, which well. what is more mutable than the Old god related Stuff?
Also betting that blizz will use these guys to shake up what we know about the lore, That not all races will be original Titan constructs, and that potentially the "Curse of Flesh" might not actually be the origin of some races. Giving folks more fuel to not trust the established Titan "Facts" And give more room for us to question who is the good and bad of Azeroth's history.
Definitely agree on your second point I think this will be like a big reveal that will challenge everything we know about native races. However I don't think they are going to be Old God related as in an Old God race, but I think they are going to be heavily influenced by the old god presence in Khaz'Algar.

Why does everyone call them trolls or dark elves, they have quills and tusks, wow literally has a race like this, it's called Quillboars, they're a humanoid race, and if the Jinyu can come from Murlocs why do people believe that this new race can't come from Quilboars. Lol

To be honest, I do not like never ending mixing all classes, races, specs and at the end of the day you feel 0 uniqueness of the character that you play. I remember the days, when I played W2 and W3, and it was so diverse and so heroic. Every race has its own specifics, units, abilities, and this is what also made Vanilla so legendary, you need to think about the game, your way of playing, you needed to be agile based on the classes that joined your dungeon group, you built your strategy on the strengths of the classes that you had in the party. Now there is so many specs, similar spells, allied races which appeared from nowhere, almost every race has paladin or shaman.. If Metzen wants to really change the course of wow's future, I think that they should a bit more reflect their roots in the wow universe that we have all loved so much in the past.
Nobody is asking for these so just give them to the Alliance, like the lizzard people and the dwarfs these dont fit into the Horde faction.

It’s not speculation without reasoning though, the vulpera and nightborne were data mined as with higher than usual customisation as well before being announced as AR.
The fur doesn't make them not look like trolls! It honestly feels like Blizzard themselves have forgotten, but canonically, Jungle Trolls do indeed have fur!

The Light Undead should be alliance and these new Troll Elfs for horde.
Calia manethil should be the one that resurrect these dead soldiers with Light and make them powered by it. Giving those undead the option for being paladin

Dumb of me to expect void elves (and blood too) to get more lore, but the new race doesn't sound that bad. Light undead have been one of those alliance long-wishes, so I hope that if they have Calia as their leader, we can get Lilian for our forsaken.
