Yo, you can get the bolt action a bit before the rolling block, when you are rescuing Sean after killing the first guys you have to head shot the guy on the left and he will drop the bolt Edit: I do not find relevance in this comment of mine
For anyone who might be wondering, to remove the scope you have to 1. Get on your horse with no longarms equipped 2. While on your horse, equip the scoped rifle you want to remove the scope from 3. Without dismounting the horse, unequip it, this should make it so Arthur puts the rifle on the side of the horse 4. Go to any gunsmith > customize > select the scoped rifle you want to remove the scope from > equip with a scope that is different to the one you're currently using (So if your rifle currently has the short scope equipped, you'd have to change it to the medium or long one) 5. Walk back to your horse and head to the side of it where Arthur left the rifle, then there should be a prompt to equip it (from the horse), upon equipping it, it will fall to the ground, then you pick it up and you're done (and yes they do have working sights) This is honestly one of my favorite glitches because of how easy it is, and because it doesn't have any consequences.
You can get krag rilfe in early chapter 2 by stopping an execution in Rhodes, Valentine or in Saint denis and something else i think. and you don't need to wait till one of the last missions only to play with carcano, you can optain it in chapter 4 with an side mission with uncle. you can remove scopes in any rifle by an simple horse glitch wich will turn carcano into an war crime stick
You can get it even earlier than that in the mission where you rescue Sean. There's a part where you sneak in the mission, and come to a hill with two enemies standing atop it talking. One has a bolt action rifle. You have to kill him before he's alerted because for some reason, if you alert him before killing him, he holsters the rifle and pulls out a repeater carbine, and you will be unable to loot it from him then. You can also get the machete in this same part of the mission.
U can get the bolt action super early, just need to do the right steps. In the mission u retrieve Sean in C2, I forget the mission name. I know it works because that's how I always get it, and yes, you can keep the rifle
I always use the Springfield because you can get it almost istantly as you finish chapter 1. You can easily use it to kill odriscols (no clue how you spell that) it does a way better job at killing enemies than other guns you get at early game with the inclusion of getting powerful ammo with it too

@@Mrmonkey19888 it should be removed, yes, but the rolling block shouldn't be the only one. It should be replaced by a Mosin, G98, Mannlicher, Lee Enfield, Arasaka, or even just an earlier version of the Carcano, all of which would be time appropriate
The carcano can be found in chapter 4 mission where you go with Uncle to steal cows enter in the house where the owner sleeps and there you will find the carcano.
I always use the sprinfield but if i want to have a real sniper i use the rare rolling block rifle And to be honest, i hate the carcanno and the bolt action rifle. Edit: Holy crap he gave me a heart after 4 minutes. Oops, after editing the comment it dissapers
U can force remove the scope on both snipers by having it on the side of your horse equipping it outside of a gun store and buying it equipping the small scope than going to your horse and the unscoped sniper should be on the side holster of your horse swap it for the one on ur character and boom best rifle in the game
