The story of rdr1 was better really blend the lines of neo western and spaghetti western better than any film has ever done all while taking place in the dying Wild West and you really do feel that in the game
RDR1 uses the full potential of the euphoria engine. Devs from NaturalMotion them selfes were involved in 2010. RDR2 uses a euphoria "light" version without any morpheme/endorphin and help from NaturalMotion. RDR2 has its priority more to precaned animations (meele fights and drunk walking, shot reactions and stumbling overall). Most people think its "realistic" but in reality, the euphoria engine is just used in a rudimentary and really toned down way. NPCs start rotating arms when getting shot to the head and the bullet force is way to high and pushes NPCs away. R* did a great job with RDR2 in general but the game and especially the physical interaction with NPCs and gunplay would be way more entertaining and satisfying when they would have used the euphoria implementation the same way like they used it in RDR1. Things are not always better, just because they are newer. The use of the euphoria engine in recent R* titles is one of those things.
@@festenzurius7454 Depends on how you define "realism" in video games. If realism means better graphics and details then surely RDR2 is the most realistic game released till date.
rdr2's ragdolls kinda suck imo because when you shoot an npc in both of there legs they'll just play the same limpinganimation, and plus when you get drunk in rdr2 you still have full control of your character, and being drunk in rdr1 is really funny, and when you shoot an npc in both of there legs, they'll actually kneel down because you made the npc cripple. And the only downside to the rdr1 ragdolls when you jump off a cliff you'll fall like your in the moon. Btw that's just MY opinion please don't get mad
In the game, the character interacts with the environment in a really cool way. They use a bunch of invisible lasers all over the place to figure out what they can climb, vault over, or bump into for special animations. There are hitboxes for every object, and they have to be just right to make sure the character does the right actions, like climbing instead vaulting. And when it comes to fighting, things get even more hairy. You can kick someone off a ledge or smash their head against a wall. The game even has AI that makes little tweaks to the animations on the fly. So if someone has a bigger or smaller neck, the choking animation adjusts accordingly. And when climbing, the AI takes into account how slanted an object is to make it little adjustments to the finger positions and the arm position, this is most likely done by using only one bone that has inverse kinematic to allow the AI to only need to worry about the hand position and everything else will follow naturally. This is a very simplified explanation its much more complex then this.
I should probably add about the throwing knifes... That you can collect them if you used them on a person and animal. When you loot the kill you'll get it back at times. Noticed that detail when replaying RDR1 on the Switch... I'll probably remember it if I played on PS3 again but that version is pretty awful go back too.
Just replayed RDR1 to 100% after not having played it since release 13 years ago, and as I remembered I definetly prefer it over RDR2. It just feels much better controls wise, strikes a fine balance between realism and smooth gameplay and I much prefer the environments and overall tone as well. RDR2 is really good and all, but feels too much like a tech demo and 'immersion simulator' which makes it tiresome to play at times.
Also the overall physics are way more entertaining and impressive in RDR1 (thanks to NaturalMotion and the fact that endorphin was used as a main feature in RDR1). Beeing drunk gives you a controllable euphoria walking simulator while in RDR2 you just got a precaned walking animation.

Setting npc on fire test would be lit
Rdr2 solos rdr2 invented real life
Why did it take them so long to add the rd revolver movements into gta games like the flips to dodge the special ability the ability to get behind cover, it took them so long
What I hate about rdr2 is that they made john the same shape as arthur and made john look ridiculous
Doesn't matter game is way better than rdr1
Not really
@@Andrewtate200 rdr2 is dogshit. Red Dead Redemption 1 is better than rdr2.
@@alcapone4635they are both amazing games
RDR 2 with path tracing and will be legendary. Where is the next gen update ? For PS5 Pro ?
What's the songs name I need to know
Which one? I didn't use any bgm on this.
Like at the beginning
Rdr1 did it worst, john didnt scream chelonia
I am amazed by the game's details.
0:26 Old GTA 5
If you shoot a gun in rdr1 it does infact fire just not always. The ragdoll in rdr2 are horrible. He magically turns upside down. Both great games but rdr1 ragdolls all the way.
I am player rdr1 , you wrong ... rdr2 ragdoll are great and perfect. You toxic and problem.
@@amonaaron I'm not toxic, Its called an opinion and I'm not wrong I play rdr1 more than you and know for a fact you can.
Rdr2's ragdoll physics are actually realistic.
RDR1 lighting hurts my eyes
There is no point comparing RDR1 PS4 and RDR2 because its not like RDR1s got an actual remaster its just a simple port lol
Rdr1 was very great
Rdr2 is way better
Like 100 times better
@@Andrewtate200I mean, it's a sequel so it's expected
@@Andrewtate200 better with boring me to death lol. Trashthur Morgan's lame dialogue, lame characters, lame physics. Red Dead Redemption 1 remains superior.
@@alcapone4635 lil kid is making his own reality😂
@@Andrewtate200 what are you talking about, little buddy? you're the one who can't comprehend that people prefer the first one.
I feel bad for the horses
How can you change the Dead Eye effect?
Mods
RDR1 wins. RDR2 has 0 cowboy gunplay.
Rdr1 Dead eyes was so broken
I have never played Red dead redemption before .. I just downloaded RD 2 on my ps4 but im wondering do i have to play the first one ??
Please help
I'd actually suggest rdr1 after rdr2 as rdr1 is set after rdr2
No play RDR2 first and then play RDR1 👍😊
