I live on the other side of I45 and this still haunts the residents of League City, and Tim Miller is a local hero. His Texas equusearch organization helps so many families find missing loved ones, and even helped the search for a missing friend of my family. He turned his loss into a needed service for his community, and I only wish we could repay him with justice for Laura and all the victims of the field.

I mean c'mon, are you on their payroll? There's literally nothing new about this, very old issue about the killing fields in texas , been talked about and filmed for over 10 years (the cases obviously stretching back decades. )
I first came to know of the killing fields 10 years ago, 48 hours mystery episode, LITERALLY SAME CONTENT, even better I'd say, SAME TITLE, AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR FREE, and then Chloe Moretz acted in film on the issue also about 10 years ago, trailer online. So Netflix docs aren't new or exceptional, you guys are just way behind in your knowledge, depending on Netflix to bring issues that are already covered quite extensively

That is what I thought. In would not be surprised if a police officer was behind the killings. In LA there were a Sheriff Deputy that stopping women for supposed traffic stops and then taking them to a secluded park area to rape them. That was back in 1990.

It's still generally ignored by police. League City is known to have a bunch of good ol' boys working as police that were more likely to flex their "authority" at you than solve any problems. And they'll protect their own before they "protect and serve" the community paying their salaries. My family moved to Pearland in 1984, and my husband was born & raised in Friendswood. We knew about killers roaming the dark back streets from young ages. The fact that bodies are still being found out there is inexcusable. And a big part of why we no longer live down there.

So you think we get better police work with less funding. Tell me how that works.
Most of the cases you’re referring in these documentaries are cold case files from 30 or 40 years ago run by cops aren’t even on the force anymore. Many of these crimes took place before huge advances in technology, and happened in small towns. However, today is technology and attention brought by specials like this are now uncovering a lot of these things. So let’s punish police officers in 2022 for the actions of some cops in some locations in the 1970s or 1980’s who either mishandled (purposely or not) or couldn’t solve cases.
I’m legit interested to understand your logic in how any of this leads to attracting higher caliber people that may otherwise be going into other fields to provide better lives for their families since paying even less money for a job where you have a target on your back by criminals with real bullets or thankless bystanders like you who demonize the job across the board. I think making the job even less attractive when most forces are already having trouble finding cops while cutting funding leading to less technology to solve cases is certainly the answer. After all it is working out so well in the areas that did defund the police like Minnesota. Well done

@Tralala_Beez Probably has less to do with a higher amount of serial killer activity during those periods than that our methods of defining and detecting these kinds of homicides were taking off. Serial killing is likely something that occurs in every society of a certain density throughout history. It's just that we now know about it as a concept, our law enforcement is aware of it, and it is much harder to get away with today due to the prevalence of surveillance technology everywhere. But before the information age came into being, it was a killers paradise. This is a big reason, in my opinion, that parents are ultra-protective of their children today. We kids got a lot of unmonitored freedom in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and not all of us made it out alive because of it.

Gotta love the lack of motivation that went in to investigating the first missing women. “Oh she will turn up”. Gee thanks “DETECTIVE”. Could’ve got the same answer from the janitor at the hardware store. Wonder how they would react if it were their daughters and told that. Pathetic. That’s why we all need “friends in low places” to take out the trash when the justice system shrugs it off. It’s no wonder the crime rates are through the roof.

I really have some doubts about these convictions. Police and other law enforcements have failed to solve these horrific crimes for long period of time, I mean decades and decades. Plus the they way they handled when notified the missing girls. Finally they decided to capture these “suspects” and prosecuted them.

It's a painful thing that we don't advertise. But it's made the True Crime Podcast rounds and it had a movie made about it in 2011. Otherwise, the area this happened in is largely developed now, and many people who live adjacent don't know the full history, and probably prefer that.
