In the last few months I've been rediscovering the show. From the first moment here that you see Michael Landon all of a sudden you knew this guy had what it took to play this character. You can just see it. Despite the fact that the actors absolutely hated this pilot, you can really see the beginnings of something very unique happening here.
I saw an interview on The Tonight Show and Michael Landon was on it and he said everybody hated the pilot he said he never believed that it would ever be picked up by NBC, but they were and the rest as they say is history.. I'm sure as they watched the pilot, the cast figured their careers were over in Hollywood....
quand Hoss saisi Little Joe pour moi cela signifie" reste dans ton coin et tiens toi tranquille" et quand il frappe Adam c'est pour lui dire" au toi je vais te remettre les pendules à l'heure"
I am glad they made up in the end, but words do hurt. No matter HOW mad you are at someone, NEVER insult their heritage, their parents, their disability, stuff like that. If you want to criticize them, criticize things they can CONTROL, like their drinking, their being late to work, their gambling, etc.
I never could take Adam seriously. He was just a little too sensitive and flamboyant to supposedly be someone with that much authority in that environment.
Lewis 970 that’s right! Robert Reed, Brady bunch dad hated the writing on the show too, but kept renewing his contracts and even appeared on special reunion episodes . He was more of a theatrical actor. But he kept that doing that role anyway 🤷🏾♀️
Pernells issue was. There's 3 grown men living under daddy's roof and being scolded and treated like children. He wanted more sophisticated and mature scripts.
I love Bonanza but the dialogue in this episode is so bad. I'm glad Bonanza was given a chance to stay on the air and the writing and acting got better.
@@PernellsBabe00 Its fun to see the development of the characters, trying find their way in season 1 and 2. And once they did, this show was fierce! The only one who really knew his character well was Dan Blocker; no doubt there about his performance of Hoss Cartwright.
This episode originally ended with the Cartwrights riding off to the sunset singing the Bonanza theme. I saw that (thankfully) cut ending and it was complete cringefest...
The Dialogue seems pretty over dramatised and a bit overacted here. "Fire and Brimstone! Stop that fighting! Hoss! Put a end to this Shame!! This Disgrace!" "Why do I have to yell?!? (Laughs like a psycopath)" And to think they were originally going to end this episode with the Cartwrights singing a merry song. The Carterights were also some real douchebags in the first few episodes compared to later on, pulling a gun on anyone who crossed their territory. Thankfully it quickly improved and the Cartwrights actually became likable.
The first couple of episodes they were feeling their way about the characters. After a while they realized the Cartwrights were the stabilizing force in the community and needed to be more welcoming to their neighbors
There's a video of Loren Greene in England, they're about to introduce the pilot episode to which green said "no no no no no"..lol he didn't want to see it again.. he knew it was awful and so did the rest of the cast...
Love the way Joe continues to try and hit Adam as How's picks him up LOL
I love that part...!!! Lol
HOW'S picks him up?

Damn.. Adam and Little Joe thrash talking eachothers dead mamas.
Cold blooded.
Adam started that too!
Hoss: "Y'all better stop before I get mad....lol..pops Adam upside the head..guess he's really mad now...LOLOLOLOL..I love this part!
Little Joe later on walloped adam
I see why Pernell Roberts wanted the show to be more sophisticated…but the summersaults into the furniture was fun to watch!
Yes, I do too, nevertheless, the plots had good themes woven through them and always were historically accurate.
Hoss is a wrecking machine....PERIOD!!! Feed that man!!! LOL!!!!
Amo esse quarteto incríveis,
💛💚💙♥️❤️💛💚❤️♥️💜💚💛.
This was the pilot episode and everyone really laid it on thick!

Adam Cartwright: "He'll quit all right, Hoss. He hasn't the guts to take any-mass sized punishment."
*Hoss uppercuts Adam*
Me: DAMN!
Uppercut? I don't believe you understand what an uppercut is
Whatever he did, I loved it!
MAN-sized.
Very funny! I love it....

What episode is it ?
@@randypryor3651the first, 1x1
Great scene!!!!
Damn Hoss got a good backhand to the back of Adams head. Didnt look like he put much force into it.
Poor Little Joe was just minding his own business trying to practice the epee. 😆
And had his work done also!

Nary a one!
As John Mahoney from "Frasier" might've said "Joe was just a young aspiring Cattle Baron with just an Epee and a dream!"😂🤺🐮🐂🐃📺B.W.
Now that's family...

It was funny seeing Adam gloat only to get slapped across the room by Hoss.

Very sorry very sorry
Su abuelo era amante de eso, cn razón le gustaba a Joe
Hop Sing was a great cook, and would sometimes get mad, lol. But they let him be himself.
Am I the only one who’s bothered by how wide of swing Little Joe has? Lol
John Winchester = Ben Cartwright
Dean Winchester = Adam Cartwright
Sam Winchester = Hoss Cartwright
Adam Milligan = Little Joe Cartwright
I never could take Adam seriously. He was just a little too sensitive and flamboyant to supposedly be someone with that much authority in that environment.
@Lewis 970 He left after nearly six seasons..He said he hated the show, but kept renewing his contract. Very odd.

yes the season is kind of harsh and so different then in later seasons the first season the characters have not been define yet.

Not not 😅😅
adam started the fight he always does the bully
Poor Joe just getting thrown all over the place.
Im sorry I love Bonanza but sometimes during the first season it got a bit cringey. Seriously "fire and brimstone"?

It's not so funny in real life when siblings fight!

@@markdoyon250 , very well said.
Every show has its growing pains while the actors settle into their roles.
I can't figure out how they sold the network this show from this episode. It's only funny because it's so bad.
Susan Ryan He has a point though. The show got off to a very bad start in the beginning.
It was color that saved it. At least Lorne Greene did say that once.
and also when they moved it from Saturdays -where it was running against PERRY MASON on CBS-to Sundays.
Cause people back then didn't know any better... They were lucky to be able to pick up one channel on their TV's... 😂
