Dull, the trench run was fast and thrilling - this looked about as exciting as a drive to the shops.
Yeah, it was pretty slow going.
The old game X-Wing had a more intense trench run than that.
Mostly because the R2 unit boosted the speed up to 900 (were a max of 150 with an X-Wing were normally possible) and you had to evade installments and fire from laser turrets in the trench. The high speed made this very hard to pull off. The exhaust port was shielded with another huge amount of turrets, plus the high speed gave you a very small window to aim correctly and hit the port. Most of the time I either missed or got ripped apart by those lasers prior to make a shot. It was very intense.
Really? evertimes this game has a new dlc released, people always try to say bad things about it, I know that this game isnt good at all, but this dlc might be the best of three dlc in the game now. So, if you like the old game, go play it and stop comparing

@tskwared667 I'd agree with you IF they'd included it in the game. Come on..... BF-EA was a shell of a game at full price. THEN the good stuff is all payed DL content? There's making money...and they'res ripping people off just because it says "Star Wars" on the cover. Before you reply about how long it takes to make a game etc etc, I'd suggest you look up EA's financial reports, specifically their annual profits. Then come back and defend their pricing to feed the poor developers and buy the kids new shoes ;)

But his point is that this DLC offers almost nothing. It's basically two flying maps and one ground map. Compared to the other DLC's, that is really not much.

Makes me smile how easily you can just reduce speed and go in and out of the trenches at will. In the movie, the sense of speed was INSANE.

It depends on what you want most out of either viewpoint. 1st person might offer a more real, cinematic experience, but 3rd person is probably better in terms of gameplay, because you get a much wider view of the battlefield.
In 1st person the ships fly like shit... but I also play in 1st person hudless, you can see it on my channel, it looks truly good, a shame there is no 1st person hudless server :/

The last game I bought was.... like.... 2013. So yep, haven't bought a video game in 3 years. Most people I know buy the games at full price for like $60-$90. Imagine how much money you could save in 3 years.
In turn, I've learned how to play a new instrument, speak a second language, and picked up learning how to paint using the extra time. I'll start buying games again when they are no longer crappy.

SURREAL Studios Thanks! Spanish for this year and I'll be doing French next year. I wanted to start French at the beginning of this month but my Spanish practice partner (she is a polyglot and speaks like 6 languages) told me that I'd mess myself up and get confused, and told me to wait until next January to start French.
There is this website called GoSpeaky.com where you can talk with other people from around the world and help people learn a new language. So I teach English, and in exchange others teach me Spanish. So you work together learning each other's language. I highly recommend it.

+Dwin this is non-sense, what are you talking about too easy? There was supposed to be AA fire everywhere, which would hit friendly targets as well. That's why they took the fight to the trench because it was somewhat "safer". But if you slowed down, you died from all the AA fire. You're the only one not using your brain. The Gamecube version got it right because it was just like the movies. Everyone racing in a tiny cramped space. Also, it wasn't even a straight line because it had a lot of bits sticking out that you had to dodge. .-.
Eh the gamecube one was fun... but only fun to play once and then leave it for a few days before coming back. This can be played more than once. Not only that, yeah, the gamecube version was the accurate one (plus some bridges added in to make it more interesting). We don't need another accurate one.
Christopher Stanley You do realize the Rogue Squadron one came out back in 2001? That is a LONG time ago. So I think another more accurate depiction of the Deathstar would be nice for this current generation.
If they were going to do this they should have made two versions, Classic campaign Deathstar where it is more or less a straight trench with a lot of AA fire, and then the Dogfight version where you can casually fly around and battle each other without the fear of being shot down from AA.
As it stands now, he was flying REALLY slow with 0 squad support and was able to get the kill shot in one try.... that's not right.... I understand other players in the actual game will be trying to shoot you down, but this was WAY too easy. This new version is wrong on too many levels.

I came to watch the video featuring gameplay with the Death Star space battle, your voice is like that dlc that is like 5.00$ and EVERYONE who's played the game will forever love and remember that dlc. It was worth watching the video and hearing you talk, usually hate hearing people talk in videos but wow.

The only trench run that had a really fast pace, hence most realistic and close to the movie, was the one from the first X-Wing game in 1994
You know....I never reached it. Ah good times. Loved that game. Great missions all tied into the storyline. All played on a 386 DX 33 with 4MB ram lol.
As far as I remember it was split into three separate missions: in the first mission you had to clear all enemy npc's, in the second one you had to clear some laser turrets to prepare for the third one, the actual trench run. The last mission also had npcs in it, but you were able to outrun them when entering the trench. The R2 unit boosted your speed up to 900 (from the normal 150 you could reach at max with the X-Wing), so you were VERY fast, still had to evade installments inside the trench plus fire from laser turrets until you reached the end were you had to aim your torpedos on the small exhaust port, that was installed horizontally in front of you, not vertically in the ground. Then all you had to do was to pull out and enjoy the end sequence. It was rather hard to pull off and I had to attempt it multiple times, because the huge installment of laser batteries at the end often ripped my X-Wing into pieces.

Also, when he flew out the trench the turret guns were retarded and didn't shoot to kill. That was the whole point of going in the trench, all those AA guns would blow you to tiny bits. :/

This new version *looks* a lot better than the old games, we can grant you that, but the old ones, particularly the X-Wing / Tie Fighter series on the PC simply played better (at least in terms of space combat...).

You do realize that the game is like $20 and the SP goes on sale all the time, right? It would literally cost you 60 if you wanted to get the game and half the DLCs, which is the same price that it was at at launch.

Yeah after 18 games online I have yet to experience the trench run and the R2 escort mission fucking sucks and the balance is all over the place, since the imperial team can easily defend r2 without any problems whatsoever.

I played two Battle Station games back to back yesterday where we won as Rebels and won again as Imperials. Fun game mode! Good flying Massive! I only got one checkpoint when I was doing the trench run...

It's not Luke's X-Wing, it's Keyan Farlander's. Keyan got bumped to Gold squadron and was the last surviving Y-Wing while Luke got Keyan's X in a pinch.
