Watkins said his upper body was fully cramped up. The car was stuck in top gear with 10 laps to go with Patrese only a few seconds behind. What a great reenactment in this trailer.
@@maartenrijsdijk7823Senna was unheard of having a panic attack. Ever. It’s why Tag Heuer chose him as their ambassador for the ‘Doesn’t crack under pressure’ watch campaign. But no kids today would know that.
This win was extraordinary because his gear box had failed in the closing laps so he was stuck in gears too high for the corners so he had to fight the steering wheel to keep the momentum of the car up with the RPMs through the corners which made his arms go completely numb but he was not going to surrender the win at his country's home race. When he crossed the finish he was overwhelmed with winning his home race and the adrenaline rush caused him to scream in agony and euphoria simultaneously. You should watch and hear the actual on-board footage on UA-cam it still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
He is known today for his legendary driving skills. Some say he was the fastest F1 driver ever. However, few people alive remember the fact that after his death, it was discovered that he had donated tens of millions of dollars to children’s charities. In secret. Together with his sister Viviane he also set up the IAS (Ayrton Senna Institute) which has provided an education and future to over 20 million underprivileged Brazilian children. That was Ayrton Senna. Arguably the best F1 driver to have ever lived, and yet a much greater man out of the car than he was in it. This is why we loved him. Far more than for his driving skills. Some other facts: -In what is regarded as his best race lap (also considered the best lap ever in F1) he went from 5th to 1st before the first lap of the race was completed. In the rain. In doing so he passed drivers who would go on to win a total of 12 F1 championships themselves. -The Mclaren MP4/6 with which he won the 1991 F1 world championship, was the last time a manual car with a gear lever and clutch pedal would win the F1 championship. It was (and will be) the only time in the history of F1 that a V12 engined car won the championship. -Senna won the Monaco GP (considered one of the most difficult races to win) a record 6 times. Winning it 5 times in a row.
The actual footage shown couldn't tell lies as it was factual. The movie didn't paint Prost as the bad guy it just let people make up their own minds by watching actual footage. It was a genius way to tell a story.
At the last weekend in San Marino they talked about everything, as if Ayrton knew what was waiting for him on sunday, also a beautifull act of respect Alain went to his funeral and even helped carrying the coffin.
its a brazillian production so I wouldn't be surprised if they paint Prost has just 'the bad guy'. but I hope not. They were both incredible drivers in their own ways.
