There’s literally the anime Kingdom which has 5 seasons. It was on netflix once.
You should watch Alexander and and Rise of Empires. Both are really good historical documentaries

We went to that museum this April. It was really breathtaking!! That place is huge and some of them still with some colors. But I have to admit. It is better to know the history of the dynasty before you go as it would give you a different experience. Well worth the trip.

If you understand Chinese culture it's not difficult to understand the line of thought behind this burial (granted the scale is still magnificent). Chinese believe in blessing material goods into the afterlife, even now there are still customs of burning paper made replicas of homes, cars, tv appliances, etc for the deceased. So this is a very natural extension of that practice, albeit at a much higher level of opulence.
Also fun fact, the neighboring farmers actually dug out a lot of bricks and clay to build homes (unknowingly of course)because it was so easily accessible and at such high quality lol
yes, and the tomb of the Qin emperor has actually not been excavated yet. due to the limitation of current technology, the ancient relics will lose their color and oxidize in the air. So the government has decided to leave the entire tomb unexcavated until better technology is available. Qin has a entire mountain built above his grave, built with compacted soil and covered with vegetation. Allegedly his grave is filled with mercury that circulates like rivers and oceans and their positions are the exact match to the territory of China at that time. there is a tale that says his coffin is a floating boat in the mercury so that he can inspect his land, with all the treasures you can imagine with him. With all those tales and mysteries all we can do is wait and imagine. Ten years ago they actually find high mercury level in the soil so that tale might be partially correct.

@@vikassinghbunglawhy would you say the culture has degraded. It is dynamic and is subject to the changing times. I would not like growing up surrounded by even more superstitious beliefs than we already have now. Current Chinese, within China or overseas enjoy and feel pride in the best parts of the culture, mainly in regards to arts and cuisine, therefore these aspects are also the most lively. Because a governmental entity once suppressed it within some borders, does not mean that the culture isn’t kept alive either among the average Chinese civilian or elsewhere.
@@vikassinghbungla The culture is fine. The govt is not. Big difference. Their govt became an existence that is extremely difficult to support and have a favorable opinion of if you're not Chinese. But even then, it's wrong to say the culture degraded. Also, there's a lot of narrow-minded people there as a result of the type of regime they live in, but at the same time, there are equally as many intelligent people who can determine for themselves what the truth is.
@@vikassinghbunglathe current government is just one of many that have ruled over China. There are many before it and will be many after. Each new dynasty has left its mark on the culture, that’s just the nature of history.
What matters the most is the current government is making China into a great power again that will compete with and beat the west. That is the crux of the problem that the west has. It’s not that they care about Chinese people, it’s that they are afraid of being beaten by them.
You’re Indian I presume, this inferiority complex goes even deeper for Indians, because believe they should be in China’s position. But they are not, they are in fact inferior in every way.

I visited the place this Febuary. What an amazing sight. The Warriors are sculpted with such intricate details.
I like the fact how the Emperor Qin has so many purposes about this Army in his mind like as a representation of Military Organization, symbol of power and prestige, A Belief in the Afterlife or a Funerary Art. The significance in cultural and historical views is notable all the time.

This was the greatest documentary I've seen on Netflix!!! It's not only a documentary but an epic tale of the history behind the first emperor of China! Riveting and inspiring. It really takes you into the collapse of the Qin dynasty and the rebel armies and who is buried in the tomb of the mystery army general?!!??!!! Amazing.
Been able to visit there a few months ago. It's in Xi'an, Shanxi province. For those who are interested in these must visit this place once . It's actually huge .. all those warriors have unique structural features.

I went there last year! At first I thought it will be a normal visit to a historical but I was speechless when I arrived, the details, the mystery, and the enormity of the place left me wondering. Shortly after leaving the museum I started doing a lot of research about it. Thank you for this documentary it helped me clarify many things about this mystery place!

Was there last week. Something like this needs to be seen in person with your own eyes. It’s incredible! The line getting in was super long even though it was not during the busy periods. But once you’re in there, the waiting becomes well worth it!

I was there with my parents in 2018 during Chinese New Year. It is really breathtaking and they haven't finish excavating yet. Just wished they built a glass bridge on top so we can see it better or let people walk closer to the statues. Make sure to get a guide.

I'm more fascinated with the 1st emperor's main tomb. But how I wish there was a documentary detailing on how his entire mausoleum was built. From pen and paper to creation.

I was in shock the first time I saw the Terracotta Army in person. I’ve been to many museums but nothing takes me back in time the way the Terracotta Army did. It was truly an once in a lifetime experience.

Had.. the Red Guard destroyed a lot of cultural sites and artefacts. Many historians disappeared during the cultural revolution and Mao Zedong even wanted to get rid of the characters in the written Chinese language

It was very emotional watching this, of the mistreatment of the prisoners, the women, the falsification in the emperor's last requests before he passed. I can't imagine what the archeologists went through discovering all of this 😢

Another location worth doing a documentary on is Zhou Kou Dian. The place where the “Peiking Man” lived.
One thing needs to be corrected a bit, Qin Shi Huang didn't build The Great Wall from scratch, most of the wall were already there. He gave the order to repair the wall and connect different part of the wall into one.

Thank goodness for the local authorities in Sha'anxi who when discovering this priceless legacy of human achievement during the later stage of the Cultural Revolution chose to preserve the terracotta army and all the other artifacts. Chinese during the Cultural Revolution were told to destroy the 'Four Olds' (四旧) 'old ideas', 'old culture', 'old customs', and 'old habits'

Both BBC and PBS already had a few scholarly superior programs on this, with all the work with the latest scientific methods. I doubt if Netflix can better them, hence, most likely it makes for entertainment. But for that, there are many Chinese historical dramas already.
The government was forced to excavate one of the peripheral tombs of one of the princes due to flooding earlier this year/last year.
That's why this was probably made. That's smth the older docus don't have.
I've seen a couple of different documentaries on this specific topic...along with others on China's 🇨🇳 history

People always want to dig and study past civilizations and yet they never learn from the past. They kept repeating it.
I am also looking forward to the Qin Emperor tomb. If this could awe us all, the tomb should be mind boggling? But alas, do not yhink I will be able to see it in my lifetime. China certainly would not risk exvavating it until they have the technologies and expertise to do so. They have discovered so many tombs and the earlier ones were not expertly carried out hence some artfacts disintegrated in contact with air.

The Emperor was so obsessed about what would happen to him in the afterlife that he forgot his present life.
All the rounds of notes, changes, mastering etc and everybody involved missed the editing mistake at 0:38. Looks like a great film though.
they wouldn't dare excavate the actual tomb...isn't it laced with mercury? he probably made sure mercury isn't the only thing to stop people from getting to it

Actually, he was known as the black emperor. But because he wore black imperial robes as his official dynastic colour. Symbolized the element of water as opposed to previous zhou dynasty (represented with fire element)
