As an old fart trombone player of 70, who recently picked up the instrument again after a 50 year hiatus, I have nothing but awe and respect for this performance. Simply flawless in every respect. Would give my eye teeth if I hadnt already lost them to play this well.
I hear ya! I started back up 4.5 years ago after not playing for 48 years. Between arthritis in my left hand and a bad left shoulder from 50 years of working out, I find it hard to play as much as I'd like. Also being bored finding music I can play but still challenges me. Playing a lot of Bordogni etudes and some Hering along with some Beatles and tons of other songs but I am always looking for something new. What horn do you play if you don't mind me asking?
@@MichaelScott-tq3dd Its nothing special - but it plays well. A Yamaha, YSL354 - I figure I'll play that until I get to a place I feel I can justify a nicer horn. I'm not there yet. But making slow steady progress...
My main horn is a '62 Conn 48H which I like for the curved thumb brace. In school I had an old Bundy but when I left home at 16 I wasn't allowed to take it. So, later on I had a Bach Mercedes that I didn't play and donated that to my girls elementary band. Then I had a Getzen 351 (I think) and never played that but sold it back to the music store. So, when I got the bug again seriously, I bought an old Bundy off eBay just for old times sake. Someone told me if I ever wanted to improve I would have to get a better horn. So I bought a 100 year old Holton Revelation (in my price range) silver plated which I love and played for a couple years until I bought the Conn. Been trying to sell the Holton but no one wants it or has the money to spend. Not sure which. I thought about the Yamaha horn which I hear is excellent but went with the curved thumb brace for my arthritis and is just easier for me to hold.
@@MichaelScott-tq3dd Now that is a coincidence, I had an old Bundy in school too, and what a lousy horn that thing is compared to the Yamaha. I envy you having the Conn...supposed to be a nice playing piece. I'd love to try some different horns out but the local music stores dont really have much selection to offer. I love the yamaha but the ergonomics give me numb fingers sometimes. The more I practice the worst it gets. If my fingers arent numb I am not practicing enough lol.
Beautiful playing, Alexander - thanks so much for sharing this! It was a pleasure meeting you back in October at Vlad's "Brass Days" at the Moscow Conservatory. Bravo!
Dare! As G. K. Chesterton once said, "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." Trying, failing and improving are the steps to playing this music beautifully. Ten years is a lot of time to improve. I hope you're playing this fluidly by now.
I'm actually working on a transcription currently, it is in bass clef and still in the works, as I'm just a beginner, and my teacher told me to do this piece as a starter one. Keep up the long tones and it will come. I know. I had to do it without piano because it broke down just before my performance! You can do it. Long tones!!! Carole
Thank you for your Warm words! I am Russian, and I studied Trombone in Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. My Teachers are G.Khersonsky, M.Zeinalov and V.Batashev
THAT is the result of thousands of hours of practice. What a beautiful interpretation and pitch perfect!

ありがとうございました!
Superb air control!
So clean it almost sounds like it could be a French horn
You mean "A french horn could almost sound like this".
@@mouthpiece200 no it’s probably correct grammar
@@qinmeichen6213 it was a joke
The sound is godly.
IT is aesthetic.
настоящее искусство, вызывает дрожь и слезы!

i'm jelly, my pitch is just so-so :-[
Kudos to the accompanist. Beautifully done! (Accompanists always get overlooked don't they?)
One of my favorite pieces played on Trombone? YES
Thank you for the wonderful play. It made me think brass can be softer like wind. It's very comfortable and satisfactory.
Beautiful playing, Alexander - thanks so much for sharing this! It was a pleasure meeting you back in October at Vlad's "Brass Days" at the Moscow Conservatory. Bravo!

Simplemente magnífico, una de mis ejecuciones preferidas, por casualidad no estará el link de la partitura por acá ?
Super
Does anyone know where I can find the sheet music to this piece for trombone? preferably in tenor clef?
I'm actually working on a transcription currently, it is in bass clef and still in the works, as I'm just a beginner, and my teacher told me to do this piece as a starter one. Which trombone are you using?

Wow! What model or brand is this trombone? Is 42?
Alexander Nyankin, wonderful playing. Where did you study trombone in your formative years? Who was your teacher?
