I love this version so much because she doesn't over vibrato every note with tricks and fancy stuff.. this is really hard how she plays.. so stable so beautiful

This was not Bach's intention but an idea of the 19th century German violinist August Wilhelmj. In my view, Bach's version is by far, the more preferable starting point.
It absolutely bugs the crap out of me that nowadays all the "Air on the G string" isn't on G String, super hard to find a real one when you just want to listen to it and hear some rich tones coming from the G string.

The execution is very good. the soloist is perfect, and so is the orchestra, but in my humble opinion the orchestra is not loud enough...
@@gyrocompa I'm quite sure the volume of the orchestra can't be the reason for 914 dislikes, I agree with Chain hellraiser wondering what really moves so many ppl to dislike such a beautiful piece of art. it will probably remain a mistery.
As to the thumbs-downers, there simply are no rational reasons. None. There are, have been, always will be among us those who toy with petty malevolence. Acknowledging them in any way whatsoever - eg: volume of orchestra - rewards them.
While the melody is astonishing, it's quite noticeable that her execution is dull, and squared. I'm a former, very low level multi instrumentist, nonetheless that is very apparent. Not sure if 900 people got this, nor if it would be enough reason to downvote.
it shouldn't have any thumb down. For being a live performance it's very very good. Sometimes the harpsichord is not completely in time, sometimes she's a bit late and sometimes a bit early, but these are minor things. I noticed though that she's struggling with long notes, specially during the first half, maybe running out of bow, maybe finding it hard to keep the pace on the bow even along the whole note (I'm not a violinist and I've never played one, so I assume it must be very difficult). If you close your eyes and listen, it seems like the note slowly fades consistently but in the last moment it rises again. I personally find that...not optimal (clear example at 1:21). But I wouldn't give it thumbs down, oh no.

Wow..I love this woman. And she actually plays in on the G String. It does sound very sweet in the higher octave too. Was it originally made for the violin G string? This song fits together so beautiful like stepping on air!
Originally it is Bach's Air(Aria) from the Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major (BWV 1068). "Air on the G String" is an arrangement played an octave lower and on C major instead of D. So for people playing "Air on the G String" higher, they're doing it wrong. Sadly, that's most people (but not this video).

Is the audio not entirely from the video itself? There are some instances where you hear her play vibrato, but her hand doesn’t show it (such as 2:57 & 0:52).
A great performance regardless, just curious.
The moment at 0:52 is because she's vibrating on the G on the D string, to add resonance to the open G that she's actually playing, it's a common practice for when playing open strings. But at 2:57 you're dead right!! Well picked.

I wonder if evevryone knows that Bach did not write this for violin solo. This piece is the Air, from Bach's Orchestral Suite #3 in D Major. This arrangement is written by a 19th C violiniist name Weilhelmj [will HELM-ee], as an encore. It has gained popularity over the years. Yes, she plays it well, and with good taste.

Finally! The mystery solved and performed and very beautifully performed I must say! Air on the G string actually performed on the damn G string! I've wondered for a long time why it was called Air on the G String because looking at the music, it just never made sense. You can't play it on the G string! I wanted to hear it played on the G String! Now I have. It's deeper and quite lovely. Thank you! Such a beautiful performance!
The original was never called "Air on the G String". Bach's composition's name is something along the lines of "Orchestral Suite no3 in D Major: 2nd movement", which is generally referred to as "Air". So it's "Air" not "Air on the G String", which is an arrangement by August Wilhelmj.
People just mistakenly name Bach's piece all the time.
And yes, this is one of the few true examples of "Air on the G String" on UA-cam.
