Goulash in Serbia can be made from just about any meet you can think of, but it definitely shouldn't contain no kidneys or liver whatsoever, maybe the restaurant that you were in is cutting some corners. Recipe for serbian goulash is quite simple, meat (any kind you like) and onions, proportion is 1:1, water, oil, add salt to your liking and thats it. The longer you cook it, the better it is, minimum of 2-3 hours
Serbian goulash is with beef steak chops, i don't know what you have been googed but i am 100% sure that was typical cooked beef steak chops. And yes, you can taste liver on grill also in Serbia, yes, it is low quality meat but at some places is so good also. Love from Serbia 🇷🇸❤️
Wait a minute! That place actually still has the goulash in bread!!!?? Omg, i haven't had it in years and i was sure the place closed during or after covid. Also, the goulash definitely doesn't have any liver, hearts or other similar stuff in it. Here it's always made from regular meat, whether beef or pork
From the look you ate "sarajevski cevapi". You should tried also "Banjalucki cevapi". Its similar but meat have different flavor and I prefer it. Also for good cevapi you don't need anything else except onion with it. Its perfect like that. And if its done correctly "bread" have more flavors then even meat.
Very nice video, as a french born I live in Serbia since 2020, but I have also Serbian origins and huge house with more than 1800 m2 in total spaces in a small location, very lovely... food in Serbia is really good for a reasonable price, and if you eat outside Belgrade it's generally up to 2x cheaper for sometimes even a better quality. I paid 190 euros for 7 few days ago in restaurant on the Danube, northern of Belgrade, few km, Dunavska Terasa in Banovci... And yesterday 40 euros for 3 in Nis an old restaurant (Nisljiska Mehana) with even better food, and few days ago 30 euros for 2 in Svilajnac in a restaurant named Grand, so the price can vary from 13 to 30 euros per person for very similar food, and huge portions, we generally eat more than traditionnal french people lol, price depends of location, in Center of Belgrade and Zemun it's generally 30-50% and sometimes much more. Jagodina a medium sozed Serbian city is much cheeper, you literally can eat for less than 10 euros, and more you go to south, cheaper it will be. I hope you have a nice time in Bekgrade.
Great video, you two are awesome :) Visit Novi Sad the most beautiful city in Serbia, it's next to Belgrade. There are so many awesome places to eat and to see.. 😇
Ahhhh twists of cheese and dough… looks and sounds quite tasty! Way to be brave trying new courageous foods. Ohhh I have a very hard time thinking about meat in general let alone kidneys. It’s amazing what our mind can do. Dessert was a brilliant idea! Hmmm I think I could go for a potato dessert. So fun to discover food virtually with you two
Ferdinand knedle are definitely a very original and delicious choice to have in Belgrade! The dough is actually potato, no flour in it. Plum is the genuine one. As to the goulash in Skadarlia, it was extremely popular in the past. It may be made of kidneys and liver, but it is the only place that I know where it is made so, therefore it is an original dish, a sort of specialty. Burek is a sort of fast food and there are a lot of variations of the same: more or less flaky, greasy, different sorts of cheese and dough/crusts. There is meat, and more modern variations (eg mushrooms) some of which are sweet. A very competitive and somewhat similar dish is pita.
Calling our food the best in the Europe is so cringe it hurts. Ik it can be hard coming up with a good title but cmon guys. That being said, the quality of the vlog is really good. You're charismatic, footage is clear, tempo is just right. If the yt travel channel market wasnt so saturated, you'd cruise to really good numbers. If I were you, I'd sit a good 5 hours in the most boring environment possible and try to come up with a unique selling point, cuz if you find it, you can really make lifechanging bank. perhaps visit really smaller cities, like 3 of them per video (achievable in 1 day) and gain viewers that way? or add interviews with the locals? Safe travels :)
Hi! Many of the reviews/customers of the restaurant mentioned kidneys being used in the goulash here. So maybe not all goulash is made exactly the same! 🧐
Serbian alphabet is phonetic: one sign for one voice. Read it as it is written. So it is not "kadžmak" but "kaymak", as letter "j" in Serbian is "y", or short "i"
J is not silent, it is just mispronounced. No letter is silent in Serbian because we have phonetic alphabet. Serbian J is pronounced as in most of European languages, i.e. as English "y" in "yes".
I am Serbian and I hella didn't know what was that 3rd. dish before you wrote it's a goulash. Anyway goulash is Hungarian traditional food. Very tasty and great as well but it's a bit heavy if you are not too much hungry. 😊 Enjoy in Serbia though and come again. You should check some other places beside capitol Belgrade. Novi Sad and Niš are very pretty places as well and Zlatibor for nature, just not downtown of Zlatibor, it is ruined for all that construction work.
No kidneys liver etc, dude, what you found on Google it's old traditional Hungarian recipe (think they also dont make it like that anymore) , our contains just pure meat usually beef, but I've eaten Hunter's Goulash with two types of meat, of a wild boar and deer and its so strong dude that can't eat much, if you have high pressure problems...its makes you full fed with half of plate...
Kidneys and liver would give it a different taste, the taste that gulaš doesn't and isn't supposed to have. That should be all beef. Those people were just pulling your leg. Either that or that's a crappy restaurant you picked and you didn't eat gulaš at all.
That place was known for using kidneys and other offal, along with some meat in its goulash... Serbian goulash is a version of Hungarian (hence the name), same method of making it, but you could use any meat you want. Hell you can even make it with mushrooms.
Second one was Bosnian food actually. Sarajevski cevap is kebab from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Serbians have their version as well. The most popular is Leskovacki cevap, which means kebab from city of Leskovac in southern Serbia. You should try some food like sarma ( rolled sour cabbage with rice and minced meat ), pecenje ( roasted pork ), gibanica ( white cheese pie) etc. You can find all of this and much more in some restaurants with domestic kitchen, not fast food restaurants! Enjoy in Serbia!

it's usually beef, some add vine and so, even chocolate
I am positive that the goulash was 100% beef, without kidneys and liver.

Thanks so much guys 🥰
Great food vlog guys! That goulash in bread looked SO good 🤤 Nice to see a bit of the city to, looks really lovely!
Thanks guys!
You guys always have the best food videos! Thanks for taking our tastebuds on a tour. Loving the dumplings. 😍
Thanks guys!!
12:10 why asking google what is in your plate?😂 You just had to ask waiter. Goulash is only beef meat, anions and paprika.
Well about weather, we are quite southern so climate is warmer

Serbs eat by far the best and everything is fresh and natural without GMO garbage!!!😊
Just lovely couple. You only forget to try pleskavica ( serbian version of burger ) huge, 300 to 400 grams.
Thank you! We’ll add that to our list when we come back!

Oh my God you guys, seriously? And you even GOOGLED it?😄😄 Im Hungarian, and goulash is definitely not made with kidney🙃What google did you use?😉
Hi! Many of the reviews/customers of the restaurant mentioned kidneys being used in the goulash here. So maybe not all goulash is made exactly the same! 🧐
@@MattLaurieSerbian goulash is only the meat, there is no organs like liver, kidneys...
There is a mućkalica Zubin Mehta,'s favorite with prepared with intestans only .., but not gulaš
Guys, you just have to take yogurt when having burek for breakfast, it's basically an obligation in Serbia!
Absolutely!!
Nema sta.Vas dvoje ste stvarno pri apetitu.
Always!
Welcome!
Thank you!!
As a Serb , I like to eat burek slice after slice , if u get what i mean . If anybody saw how it looks like , u will know
The place where they eat cevapi its called “bosanski cevap to je to” my favorite location for cevapi
you can make gulash with all sort of meat...lamb,veil,pork,chicken,beef....

Where they sold Burek? Name of the place?
yogurn should be drink together with burek, not before or after :)

What is the name of the restaurant where you ate čevapčiči in Beogradu
Sarajevski ćevap „To je to. Enjoy!

We are not eastern Europe, check the map.
have you never had black pudding in your life? if you think kidneys are gross... :)
No/never! ☺️
Either he is very tall or she is very short.🙂
But which is true..? 🧐
I always fail at 50/50 chances but with this one, I'm fairly confident that both tall and short are win win here!@@MattLaurie
It all looks very Turkish, not too Serbian? Even how they call it sounds Turkish.
Ma jok, sve je slovenčina !!!
