- The more I think about this one, the more I laugh about the fact that I ended up with one.
Would love to hear about someone actively using one of these, so much respect for that.
Forgive the playing, you should see the takes that got cut, YIKES.
This is a post about fixing the chips , very helpful: synthtweaks.com/roland-juno-10...
Not enough content around these boxes. As a Gr1, 8, 9 owner, I say a big thanks! 🖖
Hey nice MKS-30! That's what the GR-700's hardware architecture matches synth wise. Seriously awesome synth it's it's own right. Nice demo!
Thank you! I forget about rack mount versions of all the roland stuff, I'm always in the keyboard headspace.
@@JorbLovesGear no worries at all! You weren't wrong by saying jx3p because all 3 are extremely closely related. But the mks 30 shares the juno106 vcf/vca chips. Keep up the great work!
@@SacSynths_Jack_Z thanks for the clarification. I’m now running a JX-03 and a JU-06 (and a JP-08) along with my GR-700. (Yeah, I know, limited polyphony...) Mostly use my IMG-2010 as controller.
Cool, I have the 707 guitar with 700 and programmer, I love it but in truth it’s very unwieldy and awkward as a set up. Looks great, sounds great not comfortable to play though. Thanks for sharing 🇬🇧 best wishes from UK 🇬🇧
707 guitar looks amazing, would love one.
And cheers thank you! I'm honestly quite proud of that video's results.
It is quite sad how this to me sounds a lot better and most of all cooler than many modern guitar synths, which then again arguably do work a lot better and are less clunky to play
Great demo! Other than Wayne Joness' great and definitive videos (ua-cam.com/users/WayneJoness), this is the best, most appropriate demo of the GR-700 that I've seen. You are using it in ways that make it sound great and useful instead of playing blues riffs with a string synth sound. I have had one for years, and I haven't used it in a while, favoring the GR-300 more, but this demo makes me want to power it up this weekend. Thanks for posting!
Cheers, happy to know people are enjoying this video.
I hadn't seen those from Wayne Jones, will have to investigate!
I bought one new. Havent plugged in in for decades ! . My one has a Roland 'strat' guitar, and the entire point was that the regular guitar sound (rather nice) is mixed with the synth sound to add-to the Guitar sound. As a synth-only player its not nice. perhaps I will power-up my one to see how much of it still works.
You should! They're indicative of a really fascinating moment in instrument design
awesome
Cheers! I just sold this the other day, and it get delivered today!
Happy to know the video is still getting seen!
Great demo! Do you know if there's something new that makes the same sounds? Couldn't find anything (Boss SY-1, EHX Synth 9) that sounded the same. Thanks!
Hey there, cool demo. I Just got one of these with a G707. It mostly works but it sounds like there is an underlying constant note ringing out the entire time. The note isn't as loud as the notes that I intentionally play but its super annoying. Is this normal?
That sounds like it could be voice chips getting old to me.
80017a is the chip in question, there's one for each string and as they go bad, will behave like that, searching for it you might find juno 106 repair guides. Same principles!
It’s not normal….
I have one of these. I assume the reason it doesn’t work properly is for the reason you mention. How tricky is it to locate and acetone the chips?
If i want those sounds what module sould i buy? I got a GI-20 and my module sounds is a Roland SonicCell. I got a GR-700 in the past but i still like those sounds. What is the module who got the same sounds as the GR-700?
GI 20 is just guitar to midi right? I believe the exact same sound design is in the MKS 30...not sure though!
Jorb isn’t the gk1 supposed to be positioned as close as possible to the bridge? I run a vg8, gr33, vg99 and the setup for all three state a measured distance for the pickup to bridge setting
Honestly, not sure! this is where i could tape it up without actually modifying my guitar at all. lol
it is, and that is probably contributing to any tracking issues
Do you know where I can get a gk-1 pickup
I'll sell this gr700 + gk-1 if you want em both? 😁
Be watching Bad Gear and the GR-700 is mentioned. Think: hmm...I wonder what that is. Look it up on youtube. See Jorb. MFW: 🥰
😅😅😅🙏
gk-1 is plugged straight into the gr-700 or are you using something else like the gm-70 between them? thanks.
Straight in! Not familiar with the rest of the line, what's the gm-70 do?
it's a pitch to midi convertor from that same era. hey, just a thought but i thought about doing the same thing you're doing and i think it would make a lot more sense to do it with flatwound strings since they are normally heavier gauges that average strings so the intonation would be better and they also make none of that scratchy sound roundwound strings make when we move our hand around the neck which may throw the tracking off. if you try that, post a video on it!
How much for sale?
Long gone, sorry!
You “don’t have much to say”?? You spent over half the video jabbering!! Jeez!
