Oh, the 90's! I remember seeing the cover of the Sorcerer's Stone at my local Wal-Mart in Newton, Iowa. The cover art grabbed my attention, like, magic, actually.
Thanks for sharing this. Its certainly astonishing how already successful the books were, even before the movies came out. Always nice to see vintage footage like this before the movies came out :)
I like that she said she wrote the book with ut any expectations. Everyone has a desire for their work to be heard. Well her Book got heard all over the world.
@@jennigirl8275 I don't think the character was in the book, I think she's only present in expanded media Rowling has provided. The three children are called Victorie, Dominique and Louis.
I think I must have been the only kid in 1999 whose parents bought them the audiobook version along with the hardbacks because I've always known how to pronounce Hermione's name. I was shocked to hear people butcher her name as I got older. Even more so when I learned people actually approached JK Rowling saying the name wrong.
In general, I hate when people treat children the way the hosts treated these kids. Overall, JK Rowling answered their questions very straightforward and addressed them with respect. But the other hosts belittled them so much and it was just annoying.

Okay, they are both pretty condescending to Jo and I am only 5 minutes in. She handles it with total charm and ease but yo Donnie and Marie can back tf off
I think you're looking at it from a modern perspective. You have to realize at the time she was famous but not anywhere near as famous as she is today. I think they were both very kind.
Given how intensely religious these two are and that their religion is a bit odd. I'm surprised that they would even have JK Rowling on here and give her the respect she deserves.
Typical show biz. I thought the same thing. He was contradicting himself. But I think Jo really enjoyed the time with the children. Not in a Donnie way.
Who ARE these two horrible interviewers? Anyway, JK Rowling doesn’t bristle, just gives good, interesting answers to their questions. She is, among all her other talents, a great role model for interviewees!
"Just so all of you know, *she* is going to be giving all of you a signed book." Wtf is "she"? You mean, JK Rowling, the best author of our generation?
JK published the first Harry Potter in 1997 when she was 32. We still got time folks. (I’m 27)
Nice message!👍👍👍👍
@El_Diablo_12
No! She was 31. ALMOST 32, dumbass!
lol but she was writing it for 5-7 years 😂😢😅
@@LilyEvans1996that part! lol i’m hopeless 😩
perfect timing, go on 😂

She is very inspiring and visionary.

Yabaaaa* 😮
And it feeeels so gooood 😎

Well JK did end up naming one of the characters Dominique. What are the odds lol.
When
@jennigirl8275 The second daughter and middle child of Bill Weasley, Ron’s oldest brother, and Fleur Delacour is Dominique Weasley.
rowling is just so freaking cute she always kept her child side and thats good.
90’s best era
10:49 all those kids that got a signed book are lucky!! Hopefully it’s still in great shape because that is a priceless gift
I am re reading my childhood copies, they are in Dutch, and order of the phoenix has a chunk of ~100 pages fell out haha

Which one ?

It's children treating on children. Donnie and Marie are children.
agree
@@garland3688😂 what a retarded comment
She is so nice and friendly for a british person, i don't understand why so many people hate her.
FOR a british person? I thought being friendly would even be a british cliche😂😂
@Sahnequeen Nah in reality British people can be very grumpy and pessimistic
Because she speaks her mind and doesn't conform to group think
It's insane that people were calling for Harry Potter to be banned due to "witchcraft", knowing what material kids are being taught nowadays!
Right?
ironic af!

3:24 jesus christ, what terrible interviewing etiquette. she literally just talks over her lol
I tell her to shut up every time I hear her going on about Nutrisystem. She still fat! Mind you, nutrisystem worked for me. Once.

In fairness, I will often start reading books and completely forget what the title is. This happens a lot with Agatha Christie novels.
He also wondered who Ron was.
that’s so disappointing and i got second hand embarrassment 🧐 the interview was still cute tho
Jack London used to plot his books to the end before writing

Beauty, brains, scottish woman's pettiness😍
She’s only 1/4 Scottish from 1 of her grandparents and 3/4 English.
