Wyze Cam OG Review - Is it worth buying?

This is a review of the new Wyze Cam OG, which is a small outdoor/indoor WiFi security camera. It has built-in spotlights for full color night vision.
For some features you do need a subscription but the camera works just fine with just a MicroSD card.
I think for the price this is a decent camera.

My neighbor has a major insect problem at her house. I told her as long as she has giant flood lights on all night long she will be ground zero for insects. Not only that. Her entire family keeps a screen door open all the time so anything can crawl in. The reason I say this is if you move the light next to your camera you won’t have insects disrupting your field of vision and it won’t affect the quality. I have the same camera. It’s extremely buggy. It always disconnecting from the network, just a massive headache.

Funny they called it the OG version, the discontinued V1 version of their cameras can be hacked and the company never updated the firmware.

I tried 2 of the OG's to replace 2 older V3 models. DID NOT LIKE THEM. They routinely missed events and only recorded for 12-13 seconds though I have Cam Plus. It missed 98% of Person Detection. I called WYZE support and we tried everything...nothing worked.

Does this camera record full time as as normal security camera without subscription but using a sd card ?
does it turn alarm on when detects a motion without any subscription ?

Shared user cannot see playback recording from SD card. It used to work but not anymore.
Don't buy this camera, the company started to be greedy

I don't have view playback button showing. I had it when i got the camera, but now the button isn't there. What's going on. I have two OGs neither has the view playback.

Because Wyze cameras a shite. I’m looking to switch to another brand. Mine has playback but it works for 3 seconds then glitches and I have to reboot the entire system. I’d say delete device and reinstall it after only after you power cycle and download the latest version of firmware first if that doesn’t work reinstall it completely.

Would be nice to know if it can be turned on without the internet connection, in order to shoot loop video on the card, like normal security cameras do.

Yes if you have an SD card it can record continuously if motion is present

Avoid this product if you are use to the true original Wyze can or V3 Wyze cam. Basic function like event recording is blocked behind a subscription and makes this thing practically useless unless you pay for it.
