Great video, but I have a question. After giving my email for password,do I make up one for wyze account,if I'm to create one how many letters or numbers, nobody goes into detail about setting up account,
Man, the fact that, without a subscription, you literally can get one moderate resolution photograph every five minutes makes this camera essentially worthless for all intents and purposes. I mean, I suppose you could make it work in certain situations but, for the majority of customers, the basic plan is going to be woefully, rage inducingly, inadequate. And I love how it can’t back up video to the base station SD card, rather an SD card on the camera itself. So somebody could literally just grab the camera off the wall or whatever or pop out your SD card and that’s that. Listen, I’m not unsympathetic but this was a big corporation who egregiously underestimated the cloud data processing costs associated with selling their cameras, and they’re trying to do the most ham-handed course correction that is going to seriously alienate their customer base.
You need a subscription if you want to view a cloud-based video of a detected event. You don't need a subscription to view a live stream or access videos that are continuously recorded to the micro SD card.
@@JeremyHill so if I buy a micro SD card I can view something like live video example someone breaking into a car outside? If so I'll get the card. Do you have any videos on how to set the OG up this way and how to replay the video from the SD card? Thank you for your help.
Yes, that's correct. Once you set up the Wyze app, go to your camera's stream and click on the SD icon. You can view the continuous recording from there.
You can set it to only record events or you can do continuous recording. Continuous will fill up space more quickly. It'll overwrite old footage once it's full.
The problem is not the subscription but the fact that it's a plug-in outlet camera . There's no way you can use it outdoors. That's why it's only 20 bucks.
For outside use, it has to be plugged in. This is stupid. It should be able to be charged without a plugged in cord extension. Most porches don't have outlet.
Huge pain in a-- product. Five year old Wyze does NOT have technical capacity to keep all "PAID for subscriptions" customers online - service is FREQUENTLY DOWN AND OUT.
ve been a Wyze cam customer for about 4 years do not purchase the Wyze cam OG. It appears as if Wyze has forgotten where they came from, a great cam a great service will be no more again do not purchase the Wyze cam OG you do not get the same benefits from the original cam.....no Cam Plus Lite service 👎 and that 😞😞😞
Great review! Well done and explained very clearly. Can you include the actual installation and formatting of the microSD card.
Been looking at these for outside use. Thank you for your in depth review.
@Jeremy Hill @22.40 How do you tilt it? Mine is on one side and will not move. Only the stand moves. I can't even make it stand upright like yours
Do i need an SD card if im getting the subscription?

What does the app look like
Can a Solar panel be used on this

Do u need to have sd card
Mine won’t detect anything at night. I may as well have bought another CamV and leave the lights on.
Same. And the live view doesn't come on as quick as they claim.... it takes a lot longer than any of my other cameras and I have 14
@@dombouscher8436 -FOURTEEN! 😮
thank you so much for this it help out a lot
i feel like this is a good camera.. i just don't know where to set it up outside since it seems as if it won't work without being plugged in
Ok why are people saying there is no cam plus for this!
I'm looking for a puppy cam and at this time not wanting a subscription. Would you recommend this one or the Roku?
I'd go with Wyze for its better picture quality and color night vision. And if you choose to get a subscription later, it'll be less expensive.
Does it come with a charging block
That’s my question. Do I need a long cord to plug it up to. I was hoping it was wireless
@@kenriccarter3584 wireless a in WiFi it’s still needs a cable to charge
GREAT video! Thank you sir!
Do you have to have a Wyze cam base station?
No, all you need is the camera.
Well done 👍 great info sir.
very nice job, going to buy a few of them tomorrow, $10 at home depot.
Its 17.99 tight now for an all black one
Only reason I'm looking at it is cause my v3 is having issues. Damn software😢
I was told you can view videos from motion without a subscription? Is this not true?

@@JeremyHill you said continuous recording. Is that from motion or does the OG only record continuously? Which would fill up a card fast.

Excellent!
Great Video if you want to get a really good overview of the Cam.
Don't know why there is no playback with this one but there is with the panscan and the original small box wyze , makes no sense.
Gotta install a sd card
Great Video. Great Channel. Like your watch.
Thank you! Nothing beats a classic watch.
it’s a simple set up and for a simple use for your neighborhood
So your entire description of installing outdoors is " i set it up" . Wow
All I did was drill it into the siding of my house with 2 screws and plug it in.

All this chat is not helping me to set up my camera

What Wyse cam can you view video without a subscription?
I CAN'T FIGUE OUT HOW TO TURN THE SPOTLIGHT ON!
There's a Spotlight option in the app settings. If it's on "Manual" the spotlight won't come on. Switch it to "Auto" and it'll turn on when it's dark.
@@JeremyHill so i can't turn it on when i want ??
Yes, you can. When you view your live feed, click the icon on the bottom left. It's next to the microphone icon.
Wow, thanks so much@@JeremyHill
