Your video is the best lawnmower wiring video I have seen. You get straight to the point and made it easy to understand. Time to go rewire my go kart lawn tractor.
Man this Is hands down the BEST how to video I've ever watched. I was bitchin about all the different videos on here and why can't someone make a video that's short and to the point but very descriptive and detailed. You know not spend 3 minutes talking about the fucking key and leave me wondering what tf the coil is and where it's at .... Thank You Sir. I will definitely subscribe like and share.
Thanks! That was the best explanation I have seen. Rather than ask why my solenoid has 2 terminals and three wires I'll just buy a 1 terminal device. Same with the extra #14 red coming off the battery. If it ain't in your video it gets chopped.
I did this wiring for my older 70's Cub Cadet and it worked for me no safety switches I would like to see if there's a way to keep the battery charged with out hooking up a battery charger
Yep I got a type of conundrum but I don't want to start cutting wires and that type of conversation I want to use the existing system to plug switches in and I don't know the wire codeing my machine in question is an arians and it has a 7pin ignition switch and that alone is confusing don't understand how all that goes together with out a mushroom cloud over my back yard any idea would help or a web site to get some details on the wire diagram and or were stuff should go Thank you in advance
Hey there, great video. Could you please help me out, I'm stuck on this wiring thing lol. My mower is a yard machine with a 20hp tecumseh motor. Now I have a red coming from the carbs. The green goes to the coils so I get where to wire the green. Not sure about the red. And from the motor I have a red and a yellow wire. So I take it the red goes to the solenoid but I'm stumped on where the yellow wire goes. On the schematic the yellow is magneto, red is to regulator. Please help me out. I juat need to know where the red from the carbs and yellow from the motor goes. Thanks a million.
F*** yes thank you so much brother. I watch video after video of people talking about nothing relevant to what the video is supposed to be about. Get frustrated so I don't listen therefore don't learn a damn thing. Now I'm super pissed. Your video got to the point taught me what I needed to know to fix my problem and I thank you, my tools that are in my neighbors ditch across the streets thank you!! Keep em coming and It's like to be able to send you my quotations personally and never listen to another f****** yapper again. ✌️
Liked the video. with the 2 wires coming off alternator. The one for the lights, can i connect this to the battery side of the solenoid? not running lights and only when i do this will the solenoid activate. Thanks! Billy
Yeah dropped the deck for the blades because I use my push mower as a cheap tractor, but I needed to bypass the kill switches on the mower. Thanks for the help!
If i wire the kill switch with a lit up toggle do i connect it to a ground or neg battery terminal. I have it hooked up to power on battery and a freshly made ground as well as wire that comes from the spark plug and idk if switch is bad or hooked up wrong. The light sorta comes and goes. Is my switch bad or non compatible
So how do you do this wiring job on a 21hp v twin briggs Intek? It has the 2 wires coming off the bottom of the carb... I can't figure it out. ... help...
The one on the bottom of the carb is just the fuel solenoid. Unscrew it, pull the plunger all the way extended, cut the rod holding the plunger, reinstall solenoid, ditch the wire running to it... It's not needed. The solenoid closes when key is off to keep gas out of the carb. FYI that's what the float pin does inside the bowl. The solenoid is truly not needed
I brought my Husqvarna tractor last June where it is rigged that I have to turn on the light switch first then turn the key and it cranks that way. I also got a side choke knob to push and pull and the lever that has a choke option at the top follow by the fast(rabbit) and slow(turtle). The big advantage is when I have to step off my tractor to pick up trash and big stick in the yard the motor still running and I learn how to work the brake(push it all the way forward to lock) to stop the tractor. Before that, when I shift the tractor to neutral it move slightly forward until I'm back behind the wheel. Disadvantage is when I turn the key to off and turn off the light switch the tractor will pop (or backfire) after it's at a complete stop. Do I need to use both chokes when starting the tractor?
OMG THANK YOU MAN. I sub'd because you made this explanation incredibly easy to understand. I would love if you could make a video of how to use a rocker (on/off) instead of a momentary. Unless it's just a matter of swapping the switch.
I bought this to use as my ignition switch on a 1963 Bolens 800 riding mower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxaAnMgzTZ_djF6K1Kr3MGiW_XGUMfUP8n I repowered with a 13hp Predator engine. Worked great! On the back of this switch are 5 terminals labeled G, M, L, S, and B. The G was wired straight to ground, The S was wired from the back of the switch to my starter solenoid. The L is for any accessories, so I ran it from the L terminal to a rear light I have on the riding mower. M is for the coil, so I plugged the stock coil wire to this wire terminal. The B is for constant battery power, so this was wired to the positive battery cable. I turn the key, first click is the accessory position, and my rear light came on as expected. Turned the key all the way and Vroom...the engine started. Turn it back to the off position, and the engine turned off. Perfect! Hope this helps!
I'm rewiring an older craftsman like you did here. It's just being used for plowing my drive and pulling trailer so not sure what to do with that connection
I recently Converted my Riding lawnmower to Toggle Kill Switch and Push Button Start ( Thanks to your video) Now, i wanna put a Amp Gauge on my Riding Lawnmower, please tell me how to hook up the Gauge. Thanks.
Inspired life way, I was wondering the same thing, I've run the other pole wire it comes from alt charging wire. Don't know if it makes a difference or not.
@@lonniesmith6701 I actually grounded the other pole at first, and it did work. But I changed a few things including connecting the gas control valve to the red cable and then exchanging it for a bolt since it was glitchy, which was not on this video, and also decided to get a one-pole solenoid at auto-zone, everything works awesome now.
Inspired life way, I think I'm going with the single pole solenoid also, finished custom wiring, hit the button nothing, single pole does make a difference.
Carb is not connected to kill wire. I don't use a fuel solenoid. I use an adjustable jet in the bottom of the bowl, To add a fuel solenoid you can put it on it's own circuit (separate toggle switch ... battery to toggle, out of toggle to solenoid, out of solenoid to ground).
I dont have a single prong solenoid. mine has the 2 bolts, and then 2 prongs, I can not for the life of me get it to jump without running a wire from one bolt to another. when I do that, it's burning up anything from a 16-10 gauge wire. any advise would be greatly appreciated
+Mickee 78681 ok so then the other I'd use for the push button correct? Just wanting to double checks. 2 weeks of working on it every day and I'd almost scrap it if my cousin wasn't buying it
it would prevent gas from entering the carb. when electricity is sent to it, it retracts a plunger that allows gas to flow. when you turn the key off, taking away the electricity, the plunger extends and blocks incoming gas. you can remove it, take a pair of cutters, and simply cut the plunger off as low as you can, screw it back in.... and then you wouldn't need it plugged in to the wiring harness
hey man, I've done this but my solenoid has 4 connections not 3. I have my button connected to 12v and the other end to the solenoid. but no luck? the problem is I can't figure out what pole on the solenoid to attach my button to none of them work! am I missing something?
I tried this on my Briggs 20Hp V-Twin, when I hooked up the battery cable to Battery, engine turns over and starts, toggle switch does not kill motor either. Does this mean my Push Button is bad? What did I do wrong?
I Took Ground Wire from Toggle Switch Straight to Negative Terminal On The Battery, A++++++++ WORKS BEAUTIFUL, THANKS Mickey, You Know Your SHIT !!!!!, Anyone got a problem, He is the MAN WITH THE PLAN !!!!
Heres a problem. I gutted the wire harness and rewired omitting safety switch. Have three pole solinoid. I have check everything several times. When i power the 12v to trip the solinoid to engagé the starter there is only a klicking. Two good batterie. I even connected them in parallel. Still not working. Maybe battery cables? They where also checked voltage threw positive at 13v.. I tride with push button and switch. Still same problem. I can jump the hot terminals on solinoid and starter spins the motor. Tip. You can reuse your key by poking a pointed object in the side grove in the plug. Then rewire and insert the correct wire back into the plug and plug back onto your key.
Went home and done it over now I know why my mower was starting and that is because I had the kill switch wired to the starter watching the video made me feel stupid the rest of the day until I watched this and got it fix
Can you help me with I want wire up a battery charging system on my riding can you help? It would help so much if you post a video on to do that so I can do it to mine
There are 2 wires coming from the alternator under the flywheel. One has a diode. This one goes to the battery side of the solenoid to charge your battery. The other one goes to lights
Hi.. hey I bypass all my switchs...but it won't run...... you know that gear on the starter....it's spinning but it won't come up to the flywheel....help... please... anyone
The problem is with your starter. Check to see you have it mounted properly. Tap on the starter a few times with a mallet to see if you can get it moving again. It may be rusted and frozen. At worst, you may need to rebuild the starter, if you want to tackle doing that, or just buy a new starter. For a mower, they will run about $40 bucks or so. Some mower junk yards may have a starter that works well which you can get much cheaper. Good luck with your repair project.
