I've been fly fishing since 1988 and have never landed browns that big, though I haven't lost hope. New Zealand is on my list. I'm glad for the both of you.
I am late to the party - but am really enjoying your videos. having fished those same rivers many times - it is a pure joy to see you having so much fun on them as well. Greetings from Downunder.
Well done on that beautiful A. Ponds fish. Lovely spot. there are other ponds a couple of kilometres off into the hills on the other side of the river that hold some huge fish. Nice work.
Superb again guys. You are capturing some of the best fly fishing footage I have seen in a long time. Big respect for Tuva's casting when she was going for that big fish- double hauling a backhand cast like that in the wind is really impressive.
Yeah, that’s true and we appreciate that we get to do this! And the least we can do is to share the story too! And comments like yours makes it so worth it!
Good on you guys , I'm a Kiwi and great to see your energy & enthusiasm for " Aotearoa " Take a video camera on my adventures sometimes and understand the difficulty of filming and getting the magic shot , you have it nailed . Been tempted to just biff the camera in the briney somtimes .
Yeah, it was hot, and we tried to fish spring creeks and cold waters. Luckily now everything has cooled down where we are at. It’s super chilly in the water, and we even had fresh snow on the hillsides today! So that’s good…
No way that brown is only 8.1 lbs (3.7 kg). That thing has to be at least 8.75 lb, right?? It dwarfs my 7.75 lb cutthroat. Was your scale possibly a half lb off ?
Just discovered you guys. Great footage and good fishing! Just a question, is that a NZ McLean net you’re using? If so, it has weighing scale in handle.
Thanks a lot! Well it is a McLean yes. They sell them both with and without the weight in the handle, and this one is without. We have owned numerous of McLean nets and the scale is more often than not accurate. For that reason we use a good digital weight instead. It’s also cheaper

Yeah Tuva was lucky, and skilled, to catch that fish so early in her career. But it’s all about the location. New Zealand is different
That's an okay sized brown on some areas standerds
Another incredible day for an incredible couple! Pure joy to watch.
Thanks a lot! Those comments mean a lot to us ☺️
Watching. the two of you catches those fish on the Dry put a smile on my face. Well done.

Wow, thanks a lot! Super cool to hear such feedback! Yeah her casting is very good actually! You should se her cast a 20cm pike fly on sinking line!
Love the videos, including your process work and ethical approach to catching fish. Top notch.
Thanks a lot for the nice feedback! We will keep doing the things we do!
Guys you are having the fishing adventure we all wish for anyone who has not been to NZ. Congratulations, and thanks for great videos.
Yeah, that’s true and we appreciate that we get to do this! And the least we can do is to share the story too! And comments like yours makes it so worth it!

I fished those tarns way back in the 1990s and its great to see the fishing is still legendary # fishing for the educated trout
So cool! Yeah it is still amazing!

Well done guys. Another great watch. How long have you been in NZ and until when will you be around?
Thank you so much! We just got back home to Norway after spending 3 months in NZ. We still have 6 more NZ episodes to publish from our trip😊
@@slowrisemedia thanks so much, guys. Looking forward to it. :)
Jeez!!! 😳
🔥🤙
Lovely stuff..what are those covers on your rod handles?
@@garyshungking5905 it’s not a cover, just the handle on a rod from arcticsilver fly fishing 😊
@@slowrisemedia , thank you...interesting..
What is the action on that 6 weight, medium?
Yeah it’s a medium action rod I would say!
Oil video what camera are you shooting on?
We shoot with lumix gh6 and a 100-300mm lens
My.... what big hands you've got.
Which part of new zealand of this
Mid South Island
@@slowrisemedia whats the namenof this waterways
Apparently European Anglers are giving each other GPS coordinates for the fishing in NZ. Ist gut..nah not so much.
To be honest we don’t really see the problem. If you come to Norway I would help you with finding good spots too!
Tusen takk!!!! Sällan har man blivit så fiskesugen som nu!!!! Nya Zeland är bara the place!!!!!! Gleder mig til neste film! Hur länge stannar ni?
Tusen takk selv! Haha, New Zealand er helt magiskt! Vi blir i to måneder til, så det skal nok bli 10+ episoder til
Nice 😊 🤠👌👌🤙🤙🥳💯💯💪👍
Why are trouts so big in NZ?
To be honest we wonder the same!
Maybe it's nice and clear but it certainly is the cool glacial climate.
think yr goin to need a bigger landing net 🤣
Haha, yeah let’s hope so!
Isn’t that a McLeans weight net
@@Reece-m8s it’s McLeans but without weight!
Suggest you carry the scales all the time and release a good fish like that with minimal time in the net and mud…
Good point! We will be better at minimising the handling of the fish. Thanks for the comment
yummy
No way that brown is only 8.1 lbs (3.7 kg). That thing has to be at least 8.75 lb, right?? It dwarfs my 7.75 lb cutthroat. Was your scale possibly a half lb off ?
Hmm, it was 3,7kg on the digital weight so it should be pretty accurate!
@@slowrisemediahow long was it? Like 29-29.5? Maybe it looks heavier to me because it has that classic huge looking 29-30 inch length.
Mate. Don't chase the fish. in a lake. They will cycle back on their 'beat' eventually.
Why would you not catch them in the spring lakes?
