I find myself feeling the exact opposite. I find clicky or louder keyboards to be quite a nuisance in the office. If I can find keyboard that allows for some efficiency while also being nearly dead silent in the office, that's huge. Most keyboards are too loud, too resistant, to clunky. This fits the bill for all of my needs.

The feel and sound for me are awesome, especially to use in the office. They are just in the sweet spot!

I have it with the linear switches and I really like it. It is not however my main keyboard. I work from home and from the office so I wanted a keyboard that is small and light because I need to carry it 30km per day in my backpack when I commute to the office by bike. This one happens to be mechanical, it has ok feel to type on, it is actually lightyears ahead of the cheap keybaord that the company offered, and it doesn't weight a ton so win win.

Good review, My 1st mech kb was a brown switch kb and it was mushy as you described. I later got me a kb w/ blue switches and that was the right fit for me and sounds like it would have been a better fit for you as well. Blues give a very satisfying click when you press BUT it's rather loud. I believe there is a switch that offers both tactile & quite but not sure which color it is.

I might have missed it, but can you drop where you bought the custom keycaps or which keycaps actually fit for the MX Mechanical please? I have used both the clicky and tactile and prefer the tactile. The clicky feels cheaper in my opinion. Great video!

I really like it. I tried out keyboards in store and just bought it there. I didn't even know it came with other switches. Now I feel a tad sad I couldn't choose. But I still like how it feels an clicks. The buttons don't feel mushy at all. I prefer a quiet small click noises. I think it is not too loud or too quiet. I didn't know the battery is that good. I didn't know about the button customization with the shortcuts. Over all your video just told me I made the right choice to buy expensive and not cheap. I am thinking about changing the key caps to white ones...

I think the mushiness comes from the fact that you got it with browns? Most browns are pretty bad about it and I imagine the low profile switches don't exactly help

It is good with a different take on this, that its just not universally better just because it is more expensive in the logitech lineup. I like the mine a lot, but it would have been more fun if other keykaps was available to personalize it more. The brown tactiles was a good fit for me since the activatiom is so high up in the travel. On some other keybards I need a couple of minutes more to adjust my typing from being on touchscreens all day, and for me the Logitech-membranes are a bit too soft, even on the MX :-)

So far, I can't find a competitor that can replace this keyboard. Maybe the KeyChron K3 v2 (not the K3 Pro) comes the closest? But the KeyChron has a crap battery, so, there's that.

That's a shame. The wired mode bit is a complete no sale for me -- every now and then my Mac won't be picking up my keyboard wirelessly so that's what it takes to get back in there.

0:00 🎹 The Logitech MX Mechanical Keyboard is low profile and mechanical.
0:18 ⚙ Convenience is a highlight, with easy connectivity via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
0:31 🔋 Impressive battery life of up to 10 months without backlighting.
2:01 👎 Typing feel is disappointing, especially for a mechanical keyboard.
3:04 🔧 Not hot swappable, making switch replacement difficult.
3:47 ⌨ Stabilizers on the space bar are non-standard, complicating keycap changes.
4:40 🔌 No wired mode available, which can be inconvenient.
5:14 💵 At $150, it offers conveniences but lacks in typing satisfaction and customization.

Agree. I have their mouse and mx keyboard love them. Decide to try mechanical and was so disappointed. I tried their linear. It just wasn’t a pleasant experience typing on at this price point. And I agree it comes down to the feel. I too really want to love it since I already have so much logi devices but in the end I just sold it off

I purchased a few Logitech keyboards over the years and every one had some crippling flaw, the K series either felt super cheap (K400) or lacked some critical feature like being able to remap the fn key (K780), the MX master registered double key presses for me and felt a bit too mushy (I tried both the Mac and Windows versions).
I'm now on the Apple Keyboard with touch id and I like that one the most (it replaced my MX Master). The Apple one is not obnoxiously loud like the mechanical ones and it's just the right amount of tactile feel for me and still portable enough to bring with me. I have a leather sleeve for it for travel. The magic trackpad is also fantastic and paired with the Herman Miller folding laptop stand, it's an unbeatable mobile setup too.

I don't agree on this video. Got the version with numpad and since this is my first mechanical keyboard I maybe didn't really figure out what to expect, but I enjoy typing on it and I do appreciate the sound, which is not too loud.
I am using a pc and did not have any connection issues. I didn't miss the wired functionality despite I understand that this could come in handy in some situations.
At the end it maybe is a question of individual liking. I'd recommend that keyboard.

I own the MX Mechanical and I agree with all of your points. I also got the Tactile version first, and also felt it was too mushy. I then decided to give the Clicky a try and ended up Really liking it. My only gripe is that bluetooth (for macs?) sometimes hangs for a few seconds when i havent typed for a minute. But overall happy!

The last 3 problems are real problems only for a very, very small niche of people. So I get it, this is NOT a keyboard for keyboard enthusiasts, no sir. But I would absolutely recommend it for regular people who want a mechanical keyboard that sounds decent, feels decent and offers decent software support and convenience. I myself am looking into trying out a Nufy Air 75, but that one is almost 2 times more expensive because of import taxes where I live.

  • @huxxilium
    @huxxilium 4 місяці тому

The non-standard spacebar is the biggest reason why I decided against purchasing this keyboard. While all of the other features are incredible for a wireless experience, and I can live without hot-swappable switches, having the keycaps wear out would annoy me since I'm looking for a long-term productivity keyboard. I heard from another reviewer that the keycaps would likely start showing some wear before you even need to charge the keyboard - yikes, and I don't believe logitech offers replacement caps. While I can attest to Logitech's quality, I'd rather any new electronics I bring in be able to play well with other third-party modifications so I can delay full replacements.

I have the MX Keys Mini, and they are truly the best keyboard I have ever used. The battery lasts forever, and the build quality is very good. It has never failed me and never disconnected. It also switched between my windows desktop, my Macbook, and my iPad without a problem, and can switch the buttons for seamless usage of shortcuts as well. I believe that it is the Mechanical specifically that isn't good.

@Daniel M. I just bought MX Mech Mini too. Was pondering between full key or Mini but choose Mini instead since I heard its much easy to access all the functions. I think i was heading more towards the function of its Flow function actually ( being able to control between multiple computers ).
