  • When I was on a bicycle tour on the Vinschger biketrail from Mals to Meran on 08-08-2018 I crossed a narrow gauge track leading over the Etsch river into a marble work and made a short break. Well knowing what it was I got curious and went to the lower end of the "Schrägbahn". On my way up I recognized that the cars of the furnicular got moving. What ein lucky day for me, because operation is not every day! The following operations were captured in videos and photos and were amalgamated in this viedo.
More info, but only in german and italian language about this historic technical landmark can be found in Wikipedia: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laaser_...
And a nice viedo about the railroad in the Etsch valley and some footage about the marble railway was published be the german railroad series "Railroad Romantics": • Eine Südtiroler Erfolg...

That must have been some valuable marble! So much expense involved in moving this way!

wunderbare Erinnerungen.
