The folding legs are an optional add-on, by the way, just in case someone was wondering if these came standard with the machine. I created some 22-mm standoffs to compensate for the thickness of a honeycomb bed and uploaded them to Thingiverse. Maybe this is useful for someone else as well. There are three M4-0.7-tapped holes in each corner of the machine. The original legs attach to the center hole, while the foldable legs as well as the standoffs use the outer-two holes. The spacing between the holes is 21 mm each.
What would really make this great is if lightburn could upload the gcode file to the OLM3’s SD card and execute the code from there instead of having to have the computer hooked up to the laser engraver. I know that you can export from lightburn and then import using the Ortur’s built-in web server, but it would be neat if lightburn could streamline this process. Having the code local to the machine is much safer for long burns since it minimizes the chance of disconnects. I would be super stoked if this could be implemented.
I cut leather with my laser scraper. I am using lightburn. i am new at this job. the red line showing the movement of the laser in the preview sometimes runs over the templates. It also appears as a line on the skin. how can i fix this problem. please help me.
I can’t wait to give this a try. The hiccup I’ve had with my OLM3 is getting it to connect via USB. I have to power on the laser and let it get through initialization, then plug the USB cable into my laptop, then into the LM3. Otherwise, I have trouble with the setup. Thanks very much for this tutorial. Lightburn is an excellent program. Cheers!
Ortur is the brand name. GRBL is the firmware used, so you would choose that. If it can’t find your laser, there is a good chance that the driver hasn’t been installed.
Do the lights on your machine show that it is in upgrade mode? I would try a different usb cable and port. If you have another computer that may be worth trying as well at least for the initial update.
I went through this, worked great. Powered off my LM3, now it wont connect at all in lightburn. Same wifi is used, lightburn reads 'disconnected'. How do I force it to reconnect? Thanks.
It wont connect over USB or wireless? For USB to work again you will want to change the connection back from ethernet to usb. To reset the connection you can right click on the devices button or restart LightBurn
Is it possible that this wireless connection capability would work for other machines like the SnapMaker 2.0? It has an assigned IP address that I already know.
Be aware. The latest version of OSX Ventura has a bug that will result in a 100093 error upon drag and drop. I had to go to terminal to cp -X the file to the Otur update volume.
The best thing you can do is email support@lightburnsoftware.com. We/you can’t attach files or images here in UA-cam comments, so it’s extremely hard to do support from here.
can i connect my olm3 wirelessly but without connecting to a network? connecting directly to the wifi of the machine to use lightburn?
Thamk you Ortur the firmware and Wifi setup worked good for me.
I cannot update. My laser does not show on my Apple. I cannot find it in the finder. Is this a lightburn issue?

The wireless connection has been very reliable. Be sure to use the latest machine firmware and version of LightBurn.
how do i turn on my laser light while framing the area i'm going to cut
Nicely Done, Thanks!
Thanks for this video. How do I go back to usb connection in case of an internet outage?
Thanks
To go back to USB settings you would just go under the Device Wizard again and select Serial/USB instead of Ethernet/TCP.
Will the Wi-Fi set up work on a mcpowder X3 pro as well?
We have not tested on that unit specifically. Recommendation is to contact the laser manufacture for confirmation.
@lightburnsoftware7189 ok
Can I connect wirelessly if I have DSL internet
Internet provider will not matter. As long as you have wifi setup on your home network.
what if i still can't find my laser? and when i click on create manually i dont have the option of ortur master laser 3... i'm going crazyyyy

When entering upgrade mode, my computer doesn't sense the LM3, as in it won't show up in windows file explorer. Does anyone have a solution for this?

The Ortur LM3 uses a form of serial connection over TCP/IP while most others are using an upload interface which is not currently supported.

It this the voice of the guy from the Modbot 3D printing channel?
I cannot get light burn to find my machine.
