2005 Dodge Magnum ...ABS light, BAS light and traction light on....my turn signals do not disengage after turning plus horn not working....I replaced all four abs speed sensors first... haven't went further than that yet....heard clock spring could be the culprit and SAS sensor too....seems to me both probably need to be replaced....and suggestions or help if u know what the problem is. Thanks
Part 2 of 2 In addition he noticed and showed me that there is a noise when you turn the steering wheel and it happens when it passes the 11:30am ish position. I am aware how ill advised hanging a rope on my turn signal is and moving forward I will not but I really hope that you have some thoughts and suggestions on this mess I've created. Thank you in advance. Your videos are incredibly detailed and it's priceless that you break it down and explain it so clearly and even mention the sizes of the bolts and screws etc. I'm a fan! I'm sure it can't be easy answering questions with life's demands but you are greatly appreciated!
Theres a good chance that you damaged the clockspring. There are no connectors that could have been unplugged by the string. Pretty much the only item it would have had access to is the clockspring. It will require tear down to check and see what is damaged. Im thinking you will see something obvious based on the noise and the the whole string thing. The steering angle sensor reads off the clockspring so each could have had some damage possibly. Thanks for the question and for the understanding how hard it is to catch up on messages and emails.
+MotorCity Mechanic 1 of 2 Your video is incredible! I used it today! I had a tough time getting that 10mm recessed allen off the steering wheel but used a breaker bar - apparently there was some blue lock tight on it. Ok as you know I had a string caught up in there and the traction and bas/esp lights came on when I pulled it out and the code read "Steering angle sensor" There was no visible physical damage to anything. 2 Questions 1. Would that code only go off if there was an issue with the Steering angle sensor? And
+MotorCity Mechanic 2 of 2 2. I had a tmps light go on yesterday and I'm aware I have a slow leak in the front pass anger tire and need to add air every 2-3 months or so - last year this tire also had a cracked valve stem and I had to replace the stem which includes the sensor - so I added air today and the tire light goes off and then for 20 seconds the traction control and bas/esp go off but then came back on. I assume it's not related as those lights went on after I yanked that string out but I wanted to give as much data as possible for you to help diagnosis. Am I on the right path in replacing the sensor first thing tomorrow morning? That is my plan but I'd love your feedback beforehand. Thank you again! I'd have never attempted fixing this without your guidance and amazing step by step. You sir, are appreciated.
The steering angle sensor code can be caused bu the sensor or the clockspring. Starting with the sensor is good start based on what equipment you have to test with so I see no issues with that repair attempt. I so appreciate you watching the video and for the comment. Confidence is what these videos are designed to give so that you learn more about your vehicle
I did exactly what you said to do Chrysler 302,009 and my ABS lights and traction lights and horn still do not work I put an original part in any suggestions please answer
I have I cuestión I did that same to my doge magnum but that tracción light come on went I drive that doge went I go over 40 mph how can o fix mi problem that only thing I did not change is that clock springs and is a little bit damage because went you put you signal stay on I have to return that signal back ?
Not too sure. I dont get to play around with many aftermarket scanners.....luckily I have access to the factory Chrysler scanners. Thanks for watching Mark and make sure to subscribe.
Hi david great video, just a question , what if you have reinstall the old clock spring, how do you the position , do you have to have the red thing to lock it in place or how you do it, thank you and cheers from Ontario ca, take care yourself and you familia.
Great BOSS your very detailed in your illustration. I feel I can do it myself but I still will have to go to the dealership for aligning of the part which is fine. But it's just extra money DIY are trying to avoid but it is what it is if the DIY don't have the tools. RIGHT! THANKS BOSS MAN.....
I say replace then see if you have any lights on the dash....you may not have to have anything else done...but if you do as you stated, you will have saved money installing the part yourself. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe!
+elvato31 Morning, some vehicles don't have to have it reset. If it does require it than you will need a high dollar scanner that is capable of performing this procedure. Which means you may be paying a visit to your local dealer to have it performed
Great video thanks a lot I'm replacing my clock spring. Question does the sensor have to be replaced? Also has Chrysler ever figured out why the Dodge Charger goes into limp mode. Seems to happen when it's cold. once I shut it off and restart it it's good for the rest of the day does the module have to be reset thanks for any help.
I took my 2007 charger in for a recall on the airbag a while ago, not long after that my ESP BAS light came on. I tried the reset procedures several times and it always comes right on. is it possible that they did something wrong at the dealership that's causing that?
Evening Andy. There isn't anything that they could have done. When the airbag is removed....there isn't anything related to those two lights in that location. The first step is to have the system checked for codes. That will tell us a lot. Conan issues are ABS sensors but we need the code first.
+Andy Cesar Okay.....c121a is steering angle not initialized. c2205 steering angle sensor internal, and c2200 abs internal. The two codes c2205 and c2200 basically state to replace that module if the code is active or if it returns. Odd that both codes are present. I highly recommend clearing all codes and seeing which comes back first. C121a isn't the big concern, if you end up having to replace the steering angle sensor than you will need to initialize the steering angle sensor.
Thats hard to say.....there are hundreds on the market and each has its pros and cons. Some will do the calibration while others wont. Being that I am a dealer tech....I have exactly what is needed to work on your vehicle....but on the flip side....I dont have access to a generic scanner so that I can form an opinion on whats the best without spending a fortune. I have been sent a few to check and review but to be honest....disappoint on what they are capable of. Its sooooo hit and miss with them.
Part 1 of 2 Hello there! Ok. I have a crazy story you aren't going to believe. lol I had a piece of string/thin rope hanging on my turn signal (it was actually the yellow rope from a ripped Crown Royal bag that I intended on repurposing) I was parallel parking and the rope got caught up inside the wheel and I had to yank it to pull it out and muscle a wheel a bit and immediately after I noticed the traction control light & ESP/BAS light came on together. I had the code read & "Steering angle sensor" was the code that came up on the snap on code reader. Mechanic thinks it may just be an unplugged or misplaced wire that was unplugged by yanking the rope or the clock spring.
You need a T10
appreciate the info

I have an Autel MaxiDAS DS708. I read it can be used to program a key FOB. Not for my 2011 Charger RT though. I wonder if it will work for this?
